Ive had one for 3-4 yrs now, actually my very first rc plane. Ive wrecked it a few times now for various reasons and now with experience this is a good jet to experiment with, definitely worth the money an enjoyable , and as a trainer it can be your first. THESE ARE VERY ROBUST AND DURABLE!

It's so awesome, that you were also berated for buying multiple props at the local hobby shop. A few months ago, when I 1st began flying RC, I was dire need of replacement props after a couple rough landings of my UMX TimberX. While waiting for the props I ordered through your links (😉) to ship, I desperately needed to fly every day. So, I thought my local hobby shop would glad for the sales. Boy, was I wrong! The RC flying expert of the shop looked at his entire inventory of UMX props I placed on the counter to purchase and said, "Jeez, what's with all the props. I only need one." I congratulated him and went flying. Then, proceeded to buy everything else RC that I needed through the BPRC links. I haven't needed to replace a prop in several weeks. Knock on wood! Awesome video, as always! 👍

Awesome! Thanks, and gotta say, still wish they would have treated you better!!! This is a REAL problem for many, just getting their feet wet, and gotta say, it was insulting, and frustrating when they said that (even if they were right...). Thanks for being here, and hope that as I get better as a pilot, I remember how HARD it really was to get started. This is NOT an easy, or natural skill to have. Some people take to it faster, but even still, tons of time and effort for them as well...but totally worth it! This is one of the harder things to "GET" but once you "GET" it, it's also so dang rewarding!!!

Yeah, this Rx is one of the goofiest ones you can use, so if one gets an NX8 or NX10, then I suggest skipping RIGHT to the Habu SS 70mm, or the Habu 50mm - either way, great, and simpler Rx to play with.

My main concern about switching to electrics was that when the battery went dead that I would lose control of the flying surfaces. I was relieved to find out that didn't happen. You can lose power to your motor and still glide your plane . Whew!

Carbon Z Cub is HUGE! Have you considered any of our "Beginner List" planes? Carbon Z Cub is AMAZING, but you will be getting into a LOT of plane for a beginner!!! This is what you'll need if you go with that plane, and this would be if you aren't trying to cut corners. They will all be used for other planes, but BOY-O-BOY, that is more than most are willing to, or capable of spending on an ENTRY level plane choice...and it's HUGE...don't want to start on the wrong foot, but if there were a plane you MIGHT be able to fly as a beginner, that's really NOT a great choice (since I want for your success), this might be okay! @@BrianPhillipsRC Brain is correct I have he UMX cub it is easy to fly and great to learn on. The batteries for it are super easy to plug in and charge. Is there any electronic differences you can share between the white/yellow 4-6s version compared to the one in the video? Both seem to be 4s.
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC 9 ай бұрын
Yes, the Habu 70mm SS (yellow and white) is a 4-6S power system, and a better, more "normal" Rx, with less "Beginner Stuff" built in like the Habu 70mm STS (red and white) which, if you ask me, just complicates the plane to a level that doesn't really help most beginners anyway. Also the STS is a 3-4S power system, which is plenty powerful enough for most beginners, but the Rx is super complex and not very useful in another application, like if you crashed the plane and wanted to use it elsewhere, or when you decide to upgrade from the RTF transmitter to the NX8 or NX10. The STS also supports the LAS, Landing Aid Sensor, which NOT needed, but if you want help landing, it might be helpful - I don't suggest using it. This is one of the "weird" things in the Beginner Rx, that I DON'T like, since it make the Rx not useful in another plane if you would want to reuse it after a crash. Other than that, both have Telemetry to help with flight pack voltage and thrust reverse, which is really nice. I usually tell people just get the 50mm Habu, then move onto a better EDF when you're ready for 6S, like the Viper 70mm, or even the F-16 (many say the F-16 is a good "beginner" edf - I DO NOT...it's harder to land than the habu by 10 miles)

Nice review, but after owning several I would like to put in my 2 cents. For just a little more money the FMS Viper 2 has retracts and is very solidly built (excellent quality bird). The STS doesn't have a very robust nose gear so you may strip a servo on a hard landing...and after a few of these the nose gear assembly will need replacing.

There's a pond just over the hill from where we film, and across the street from our new property too, but they're not ours, and the land owners wouldn't probably care for us flying over their cattle. If we spook them, they could get hurt, or killed...then I'll be in trouble. We used to have three ponds on our old neighborhood, and a huge pond by the community college where we frequented, which was a blast to fly from...but it's now a waze away from our launching point. Part of the reason we make this Aerodrome here, is that our schedule is kinda insane, so if we added half an hour to each video, we'd get maybe 1/10th the videos we're filming today. This is a huge reason why we've invested so much to be where we are...it's not just a convenience thing, it's a POSSIBILITY thing. The same is true for PPG, and flying from our property, and building a full scale runway. There's only so many hours in the day, and we use them up totally! Hope this makes sense, but if not, you'll get a better idea of the plans, as we share the process in the near future. ...and, thank you for your support!

I've watched your videos for a while now. You. Are. The . Best. I juet picked up the new RTF version of this without the battery and charger. The CG it balances at is not what is suggested in the new manual. New manual says 80mm back from leading edge root. With the pack all the way forward it balances at about 100mm-ish. New manual says nothing about all the way forward. Only 70mm - 105mm range, with best at 80mm. What do you suggest for 3s 4000?

Get it to be almost TAIL heavy to make the elevator work...I know, seems a bit counter-intuitive, but the elevator throw on this plane is SMALL and can make it hard to climb, if you don't MOD it like I did...and this plane will fly pretty good still...then just shift it forward until you're 100% comfortable.

I've been flying for 6 months. And I can fly in a circle or fly around. Pretty good, but I haven't got out of safe yet. So wondering what steps, and what is the easiest way to graduate from safe?
@BrianPhillipsRC
@BrianPhillipsRC Жыл бұрын
Don't push yourself too hard. If you take longer than the kid just learning, don't worry about that! Your speed of progression is totally up to your taste, and risk tolerance. If you like flying in SAFE, then do it! If you'd rather fly without even a stabilizer (AS3X) then ,so be it! It's your call how long you stay in SAFE, or how quick you get out of it. My suggestion, however, is that you graduate from SAFE by flying to a "few mistakes high" and then turning off SAFE, then just fly the plane. If you get nervous, put SAFE back on, and get your bearings, then repeat. When you're comfortable, you won't be THINKING about what direction you're flying. This might take you longer than me, or you might be faster than me...it's just how long it takes your brain to connect the dots...once it's done, if you THINK ABOUT IT, you'll be crashing - NO JOKE...you will eventually not even "THINK" about the directions, you just do it as a second nature muscle memory. It's kinda weird, but also very cool! If you want to speed up the learning, get on the simulator 2-3 times a day, no matter how busy you are. Just get on the sticks often, and when it's windy, rainy, crappy weather, get on the simulator and practice doing what you're trying to get better at. It will help...and you will be out of SAFE in no time, IF that's what you want. Good luck! Remember, practice makes perseverance...NOT perfection.

EDF’s rudder authority is relegated a function of airspeed only… which means a true hammerhead is impossible because airspeed approaches zero before throwing the rudder - and propwash provides the authority. EDF and propwash are mutually exclusive. 😉

As an alternative to Horizon's Sky Plug In RID, I'm using Holy Stone's rechargeable HSRID01 RID Module with my planes and drones, which can be easily attached and moved from model to model and I buy it only once. It's priced about the same as Horizon's solution, but Holy Stone's solution can be used on anything that flies. One module works with everything in my hanger and I'm FAA compliant without worry.

Any of the planes with AS3X are going to generally offer SAFE, any more, but to be clear, AS3X is stabilizer, and SAFE is ONE STEP FURTHER, and automatically levels the plane when you let go of the sticks. I bought a FMS 1200mm RANGER RTF and the EFlight Habu STS 70mm EDF RTF. DO NOT purchase one from Amain Hobby because they say it's RTF but they don't include a battery or charger and the software certificate and Dongle for Real Flight.

3s is meant for beginners… I flew this with 0 prior flight experience… I eventually moved to 4s it’s a huge difference… now I’m on 6s Habu SS! Couldn’t of done it without the edf being slow enough to learn.
