So what do you guys think about the compact mowers and the ability to expand your fleet as you go with larger deck sizes and units. I have to say, these 2 mowers were insanely beefy. Doubt you could go wrong with either one.

I bought my 36" Scag VRideII during the middle of the season last year. It has been a gamechanger for me. I bought it used with 1.8 hrs on it! It was the pull start, but it was such a deal I couldn't pass it up. You get used to it after a while. I have several small yards where it's all I use. But there's also 1 or 2 I have that have severe uneven terrain, and it's Bermuda. This narrower cut made the yard look so much better despite the fact i could first my larger Turf Tigers on it. It delivers a very good cut and doesn't clog. Absolutely love it! Also, the cc's are rated the same on the 15hp pull start and the 19hp electric start. The main difference between the 2 engines is the electric start obviously and the air filtration system. Aside from that, they're virtually identical Sorry If I've commented multiple times the same thing, Comments would not show no matter what I did

When it comes to cutting performance from what I saw there, you went over the grass three times and plenty of the taller grass stems never came down. My neighbor just bought a 6’ bush hog for his 4045 JD tractor. I was truly impressed at the near perfect cut. We have had a spell of rain here in Florida and its is growing fast. I mow 3 out of 5 acres. I have two 46” yard machines. JD and CC. They just do not hold up. Today, on the John Deere site, I noticed a happy guy mentioning his great impression with Bradley. They have a nice offering. Dealers are all two hours away. John Deere is usually 30 minutes with good inventory of parts. Thanks for your reviews! Am I expecting too much when it comes to really cutting long grass on the first pass?

Granted I think you'd be starting out with some $400 Honda mowers and working up to a 36" stand on, but otherwise it sounds right on! I would love to see the 36" stand on vs a sit down mower in the same price bracket to see how they compare

prime example of whats wrong with the lawn care industry today...you go out and buy a 36" to fit in the gates for 6-7k$ and then have a 48 or 52" for your larger mows at 8-9k$ then the trailer 3K$ and you run around mowing 30$ lawns !! The lawn price per cut today is the same as it was 25 years ago but the prices of equipment is sky rocketing !!

I've talked about that before, I couldn't agree more. That's why I've dropped my gated lawns, I couldn't justify having a $1,500 Exmark Metro sit around 95% of the week on the trailer, rusting out. Every market is different, I get it but for me, I pruned those clients to keep my bigger units moving. But again, not everyone has wide open properties and subdivisions/acreage.

All our workers would really slow down at the end of a hot day using push mowers like timeMasters. They also get feet issues walking all day long. We switched to this exact mower. Stander intensity and we doubled our productivity. I also run it with a ramp rack for small properties. The workers don’t get worn out or twisted ankles. Well worth the money

When I landscaped, we used Wright Standers. We had 2 60" for high weed mowing, a few 54" that were our main mowers on the trucks, then I eventually got a 36" since I had a lot of gated back lawns. The thing was solid, mowed well, was a little faster then the 54" due to being lighter so it almost made up for the size difference. The only place I really feel it lacked was holding a hill. It would lose traction way easier then the larger decked heavier standers.

I have a scag 36 vride 2. It has an electric start 19 hp Kawasaki. I have put just over a 100 hours on it. In Florida I cut St. Augustine at 4 to 4 1/2 inches, zoysia at whatever the owner wants and junk that grows A LOT in the middle of summer. The Scag has great lift and seal on the turf. It mows wet or dry grass, It rains everyday on us in the summer time. The cut quality is impressive, no need to double cut. No complaints. I would love to try a Wright, I like the build quality but there are no dealers with a demo near me. I will not buy a mower again without a solid demo, made that mistake once. I do like the Video's Ed Wright puts out for information and his objectivity and respect for other brands. I hope that helps someone in

I have viewed and re-viewed these and many other videos about mowers. Very few times do you see side by side comparisons of the "Cut Quality". Not super high grass in a field; well manicured lawns that our businesses are built around. I LOVED everything about the Wright machines except the quality of cut with the St. Augustine grass I cut here in the Tampa Bay area. I've checked out multiple models personally and observed the cut quality by others with the Wright mowers. I keep my customers by providing the very best cut possible; period. I can't wait for Wright to fix that issue!

I’ve been talking about this for awhile, asking around and what not. I run a local professional lawn care company down in Corpus Christi Texas called A&B Services. We have a ton of residential accounts along with commercial accounts as well. We have found that the majority of our residential gates are around 32.5 inches to 34 inches. Prior to purchasing our stander mowers (stand on) we were using our 30 inch toro turfmaster commercial walk behind mower which I must say is a great mower, mow great, very fast, and leaves a very clean cut, all in all I can not say enough good things about the turfmaster, (not the timemaster). Only bad thing about the turfmaster is you end up walking every back yard, and at the end of the day mowing 20+ yards a day you end up working 12+ hours a day. Many of nights it’s after dark by the time we are parking the trailer for the night. I was in the market for a 32 inch stand on mower however there are not many mowers out there. I was considering the Wright as Wright makes great Equiptment. We in Corpus Christi do not have a Wright dealer so I drove up to spring texas just outside of Houston to look at the Wright 32 and when I saw the Wright 32 there was 1 major issue on the mower that was a major problem for me. The wright 32 is a fixed height cutting deck, if making small height adjustments you can pull a pin and remove spacing washers otherwise to adjust decent size increments you have to un bolt and adjust wheels. This was a huge problem, because mowing 20+ yards a day, not every yard is the same, some yards are healthier than others, the healthier yards don’t get cut as short as the less healthy yards. Often times we find the home owners have an amazing front yard but back yard not so much possibly due to dogs running back and forth preventing the grass from growing so the front is mowed higher than the back yards. As a business owner I can not afford to have to bust out the tool kit every time we get to a new yard. Had the Wright 32 been an adjustable deck I would have purchased it in a heartbeat. This particular wright dealer also sold encore mowers, and just from what they had sitting on their sales floor they had 1 Wright 32 inch mower and about 11 or 12 encore 32 inch mowers. They explained to me that the encore is a commercial and professional grade mower but not quite the quality as a Wright, however this mower also not at the price point of a Wright either. What really caught my attention of the encore was the fact that it had an adjustable cutting deck. The dealer told me they sell way more of the encore 32 inch mowers opposed to the weight 32 inch mowers. What really speaks to the professional guys is the fact that the encore was a few thousand dollars cheaper than the Wright but also adjustable cutting deck. If a big believer in you get what you pay for, especially when you are making a living with your equipment, and had the Wright 32 had an adjustable cutting deck I wouldn’t have thought twice about purchasing it. They Wright is a great machine but the 32 does not cater to the professional lawn guys with its fixed deck height, speed is everything. Now I can speak from personal experience of owning and running this encore for several months now, and this encore is a great machine, I’m telling you it is a money making machine while also preforming great. I’ve got larger mowers, one of them being a scag 48 which I can’t say anything bad about, also a great machine but what good is it if it won’t fit though these tight gates. This encore 32 Inch stander stand on mower is a great machine, I can’t necessarily speak for it long term as I have owned it for just under a year now. I don’t know if it will last 8 to 10 years being used professionally and accumulating many of hours each week, but it also wasn’t at the price point of a Wright or a scag. Used to at the end of the day using the toro turfmaster I was beat and sore come the end of the day, especially during the summer when the days are longer 12+ hours behind a push mower and I was exhausted. Now with the encore stander stand on mower we can get the same amount of work accomplished in far less time and come the end of the day I’m not wore out and beat. I can not speak long term for the encore 32 but I’m beyond satisfied with this machine, if I get 2 to 3 years of commercial use out of it is happy. I’m not joking when I say this is a money making machine, it’s great, and much less expensive than a scag or a Wright. I have contacted wright several times just to provide customer feed back about their products, I have talked to many of people at Wright and have suggested to them of adding an adjustable cutting deck, their response to me was that they just don’t sell many of the Wright 32 inch mowers to justify the research and development and engineering for a mower and doesn’t sell much. I personally believe the reason it doesn’t sell is because of the fixed deck height, I won’t buy a fixed deck. I wouldn’t hesitate again purchasing another encore 32 inch stand on mower just because of all of these tight squeezing gates on all of these residential back yards. Some of these back yards are quite large too. To find a residential gate 36 inches wide or larger in my area is rare.

aaron grant I’m new to the industry and have one season under my belt I bought a 32” stand on by World lawn which I believe are the same thing. I purchased it for one reason and one reason only productivity! I am in the same boat as you I have customers that like there turf shorter than others and i have customers that don’t have a preference, but the deck has to be floating so my employees or I can adjust quick and move on with the next clients property. I looked at Wright 32 but it was a fixed and I didn’t want to push mow a single yard so that is what I decided was a 32” venom from Worldlawn can’t be happier with it!
@aarongrant7402
@aarongrant7402 6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Garcia you are exactly correct, to my understanding encore and world lawn are the exact same company and make the exact same 32 mower, other than the stickers and decals it’s the same piece of equipment. The dealer I purchase from explained to me that used to world lawn was a pretty good company but moved their company to China to mass produce these mowers and cut their quality, this was years ago from the way they explained it to me, he went on to explain to me that world lawn has since fixed there problems and issues that they had and fixed the corners that they had cut but had a difficult time recovering because anytime after the professional lawn care guys would associate world lawn as bad despite them fixing their problems. From what I was told they created encore to pick back up their sales encore and world lawn to my understanding are exactly the same, they even look exactly the same but nowhere on an encore does it say world lawn. Supposedly this was a strategy to help them recover from their mistakes. Like I said I can not speak long term for this piece of equipment just because I haven’t had it long term yet. If I have to invest into some minor repairs along the road then so be it no problem, I paid under 5k for this mower and wouldn’t have a problem doing it all over again. It would be nice if it last 8-10 years of hard commercial use but if I can get 2 to 4 years I’ll be very pleased. The machine has already paid for itself and it did not cost 8K like a Wright. I’m not bad mouthing Wright in anyway, they make great products, and very reliable products, as does scag, I have a scag 48. But I feel Wright really dropped the ball and let many of the professionals down with their 32 stander, a fixed deck height is a joke, I’m sure it cuts great but going from one job to the next I need to be as efficient as possible, and having to manually adjust the deck at each and every job would just be a joke and a waste. I met with a weight person that demo’ed the Wright 32 for me and claimed adjusting the wheels can be done in 10 minutes or so, he went on to show me all you do is run one wheel up onto the curb which will take the other wheel free floating in the air and easily adjustable. I asked what happens if I don’t have a curb at my disposal? I have one neighborhood where I have several clients in this particular area, they do not have sidewalks, or curbs. Quite an old neighborhood but no curbs, they have ditches at the streets in place of curbs for drainage. This particular wright person said without a curb it will be much more challenging to adjust the height. Long story short I have no problem spending good money for good equipment but I just can’t understand why Wright would produce a mower with a fixed deck height.

I'm interested in getting back in mowing maybe but didn't like doubling back when going along mulch beds to get chute to blow away. Had a gs30 with 36" deck, interested in stander 42 for back yards, if customers gate is smaller than that guess I'm not the guy. Without helper I need to get done faster than a 36". So how's mulch kits/guard do with these small standers?

We are in louisville and the most popular is the exmark 30. Looks like a push mower but very versatile self propelled mulching machine with bagging or full discharge option. On the heavier side the 32 inch metro exmark has been our go to. The 36 inch will not fit in all gates the 32 will so the decision was simple. The accounts are not popular for this need in terms of residential, however commercial islands and the smaller spots needed on your bigger grounds (if that makes sence).

I've been thinking about 53 inch Hustler I think it's a 53 or 52 not sure offhand X1 and I'm not sure the model but it's also a hustler 36-inch stand-up not a big fan of stand-up mowers but I think they're great for backyards and small yards other than that I'd rather have a sit-down but anyways what do you think of the Hustler brand overall would love your input

People pulling the trigger and debating on the size of their first mower to purchase, you have to think about what type of customers do you want to target or what type of yards the majority of your targeted area have for you to make a good fit to that market. Me, I am a solo, side business, so I can pick & choose my clients a little bit more. That is why I went with a 50" for my first yard, if they don't have a big enough gate, so sorry, as I move on to customers that do. If you are going on in fulltime, then like Stan said, you may want to start with a 36" to gain all the potential customers and then bump up to a bigger unit on your next additional mower purchase. This way you aren't turning away too many customers. Your bigger mowers are going to handle a yard quicker thus making you more $s per hour in general (the 48"-52" range will be more profitable than a 36"), if you can establish enough clientele of this sort on your start-up year?---I hope this added some prospective for someone getting ready to pull the trigger.***Other add-ons that are worth the purchase to get or plan to get on that first mower: 1) bagging system for those Fall leaf cleanups 2) chute-blocker for those thinner strips of property between the neighbors yard and your client's flowerbed along side their house/garage 3)headlights for the Fall season when it starts getting dark early 4) PTO assist for your bagger tube to avoid the tube getting clogged. You may not be able to get all of these add-ons right away, but if you purchase a mower that has these options available, you can get these items over time as the money rolls in.

I've got a two man crew fixing to fire up here in Texas, we are co-owners, and for our area the 36" is a must for all the back gates. We are pairing it with a 52" and it looks like SCAG is the best way to go with us. We figure two guys, one in the back with the 36" and in the front with the 52", and come time for leaf clean up, we mulch first, then use the 36" to bag it. I know that's a small bagger, but it seems to work for a couple different guys I know.

36" isn't too bad at all. It can still cut a 1/4 - 1/2 acre residential property very fast. Plus it can fit in most of those tight spaces. Im going with a 36" stander vs. A bigger size deck. I agree with Brian and DM that these size mowers are excellent to start out with, but newbies also need to understand that they have a bigger learning curve to these smaller mowers in regards to 2 very important things; 1:The safety aspect that they are not nearly as stable as a wider mower and; 2: They weigh almost just as much as their larger counterparts, and with smaller tires, they get hung up easier.

I do all my fertilization and lawn chemicals with this machine without spending $10,000.00 - $12,000.00 for a dedicated Z-Spray machine and I can STILL CUT GRASS with the same machine. Win, Win for me. I think I spent an extra $1,500.00 outside of the mower.

They’ll mess your lines up from looking great sure. but I couldn’t get into these after years of riding z turns & standard walk behinds. (No belt driven but hydro walk behinds ). But these seem to be much more popular. Especially for small suburban areas front yards and back you’re better off taking two stand ups off the trailer.
