Not sure if it was mentioned.. but he aggravated his back in the previous game against the Pistons with a scary fall. He was actually taken off to get it treated, but then re-entered after a quarter or so. I wonder if that fall may have contributed to this injury. Especially considering that he was likely cleared to play this game because he was able to re-enter the previous one. (This fall could have been the initial excess pressure that you speak on during this video) I love your videos, keep it up!

When I saw it happened, I remembered suffering a lower back injury just by standing up... yeah that's right, I was sitting down, then I stood up (not quick motion, just a regular standing up motion). I heard a somewhat of a pop in my lower back. Physician ruled it as a herniated disc injury and I can still feel pangs of pain for months now. I hope he recovers.
@Mortiz212 күн бұрын
Seems like he pulled it. I did the same thing a month ago at the gym. I thought I hurt my lower spine cause I couldn't bend without extreme pain. Went to the hospital, and they said I had a bad sprain, but my spine was perfect.
@itsjammbi2 күн бұрын
how long did it take to heal?
@Mortiz212 күн бұрын
@itsjammbi I was fine in a few days. It was still sore as heck, though. I still get some soreness in that area. I'm guessing he'll sit for about a week. Then do light cardio for a week. Then, they'll test him with drills and see how he reacts. If he's sore and feels tense, they make him wait. If he feels good, they'll probably play him on a strict mins regulation. That's just how teams treat things now.

Back spasms suck. Been dealing with ‘em for years. It’s usually erector spinae (which comprise all the smaller muscles Brian mentioned) which can press on the nerve roots when inflamed and over contracting. I also have trouble with the quadratus lumborum he mentioned. Basically -no stretching, do anti-inflammatories and heat, and after a few days direct pressure (massage).

I had 3 slipped disks, and torn annular fibrosis’ at the L4/L5/S1 levels in my back and had nerve damage in my legs. My surgeon suggested that I either have a spine transfusion surgery or do intensive Physiotherapy and rehab. I did the Physiotherapy and rehab instead of surgery, but it was probably the worst pain I’ve ever experienced, took me 2.5 years to finally be able to live without constant pain. Hope it’s just a sprain for Suggs
@deemariedubois49162 күн бұрын
As a person who has back spasms, I’m here to tell ya that they freaken hurt. Your back can spasm with a weird locked up feeling where the contraction is so bad you fear any movement. You are paralyzed by the pain. Of course you have to move with help if only to get to your bed. Ice, heat, massages, and muscle relaxers are a God send. Then later back exercises, starting with stretches, done cautiously in case you set off more spasms of pain. A trip to my orthopedic doctor if the spasm immediately returns with an easy stretch or if the pain runs down my leg. Thanks Dr Brian. Your body had some impressive gluteus maximus going on.
