Josh Allen certainly looked to be unconscious on the field at the end of the Bills Texans game after hitting his head hard on the turf. Yet he returned to the game just minutes later.

What's even crazier is them trying to cover it up. 3 mins after this they said it was a chest injury, and then after the game Josh Allen said he just rolled his ankle on that play.

Josh Allen is very physical player and displays a lot of toughness on the field. He runs into contact and e pops right back up when he gets tackled. He didn’t pop right back up after this hit. Dude hit his head hard and was unconscious. Definitely a concussion. Somehow he weaseled his way back in the. NFL touts how it is so much safer and takes steps to prevent players from continuing to play in situations like these but then stuff like this happens and they get away with it. Dude was clearly concussed, lost consciousness and somehow still allowed to play. Not to mention think want to sell us that it was an issue with the ankle which it’s clearly not.

You are right and I think the documented CTE progression in football players is more severe than in MMA fighters. I'm not certain on the exact numbers but one study that studied 111 former NFLer brains found CTE in 110 of them. People talk about how brutal MMA is but once you are unconscious, it's over, the fight is finished in seconds. Obviously the super necessary finishing blows are horrible looking but it's not provably as dangerous as this or combat sports that allow someone to continue fighting after a clear concussion

I do wanna highlight something I've noticed with other players' obvious concussions and give my laymen's theory here on why players react differently to them. I know a lot of people question why some concussions are "different" or worse than others, but the reality is specifically WHERE on the brain was insulted. Why were Tua's concussions different from Josh Allen's here? Well if you look at Tua's first concussion, he hits the back of his head, and becomes ataxic. His brainstem and occipital lobe was most likely insulted which controls motor functions. He hit the back of his head AGAIN during the Bengals game concussion. Ataxic and posturing. Josh Allen here hit the ground with the side of his head which most likely insulted the cerebrum, which explains the unconsciousness. Remember Tua never really went unconscious like Allen (a good example of fencing and complete unconsciousness was Mason Rudolph's injury against the Ravens). Obviously all insults to the brain are severe, but where they occur matters and explains the reactions of said insults. The protocol is SUPPOSED to address all areas of insults like monitoring O2 and a simple Blood Pressure exam. Honestly I'm surprised that Basilar (base of the skull) injuries are pretty much non-existent and I hope it stays that way. Allen should have been treated EXACTLY like Tua here. Insults to the Cerebrum can put you in a pretty bad daze and possibly cause amnesia. QB's need razor sharp memory and hitting the part of the brain that stores said memory? Not good. Again, I'm not a medical professional and this is just my observations, read books about neurology, and I speak with neurologists about this stuff. They can talk about nerves for hours. Feel free to correct anything that I got wrong or was slightly off.

@@Five_by_Five9340 I mean almost everyone has apparently forgot about Mason Rudolph's concussion several years back during the Ravens game. He was completely out for 4 whole minutes with a very obvious fencing motion. His hit was on the chin. The jaw is a weak spot for the frontal lobe, which like the cerebrum, involves memory and cognition. Rudolph never remembered getting hit, and his performance dropped, even after taking several weeks off. Initially, the human body ALWAYS instinctively tries to protect the head. After a severe concussion like that, the instinct is amplified. Rudolph's performance in the pocket collapsed cause he was afraid of taking another hit.. Tua though is special. The brainstem and occipital lobe are pretty damn resilient, and Tua doesn't exhibit any symptoms of Chorea or Ataxia after his concussions (that were two years ago). Guys getting knocked out like Allen and Rudolph, and even Lawrence, end up performing much poorly. Tua, even after ALL of his concussions, never saw a significant dip in performance. Why? His memory and cognition never took a significant hit. However don't take this as me saying Tua's concussions weren't serious. They definitely were, but again, location matters. The hospital released him the night of his 2nd (and most severe) concussion during the Bengals game. They definitely wouldn't have recommended release if there was significant trauma. (We don't know if they did, but the NFL probably would have forced Tua to stay considering it was a terrible visual on prime time). And thank you. Visits to see people in ICU Trauma centers, neurologist visits, and studying the effects of Basilar Skull Fractures after Dale Earnhardt died made me pretty informed about neural injury.

Your assumption MIGHT be true -- BUT it also very well MIGHT NOT be true. I think we need more evidence and information following an investigation. Further, I think it's irresponsible to "jump to the conclusion" that the Bills medical staff "definitely" did "something wrong" and ought to be "fined heavily" simply because of what you "THINK" you "know." NO MATTER how bad it might "look," we have to give the medical staff the "benefit of the doubt" and the "presumption of innocent until proven guilty" that they didn't do anything wrong vis-a-vis Allen for at least three key reasons: 1. The widespread NFL community (including fans and sports media) -- and the Bills in particular -- are EXTREMELY SENSITIVE to concussion issues nowadays. Don't forget that the Bills are in the same division as Miami and face Tua 2x every year in the regular season. Moreover, the Bills were the team involved in two of Tua's worst recent concussion games (in Miami 2 seasons ago, and in Miami this season) ... so NOBODY on the Bills staff takes concussions lightly. 2. Don't forget also that this is the SAME Bills medical straff that was nationally awarded and celebrated for SAVING Bills safety Damar Hamlin's life after he was "dead" on Cincinnati's field ... again, such dedicated medical profesionals who truly love their players like family are not likely predisposed to ignore a genuine concussion of their FRANCHISE QB (nor is HC and extreme "people person" Sean McDermott the sort of guy who would ever demand or improperly allow Josh Allen's return to the game or otherwise jeopardize a Bills player that way. 3. While the Bills no doubt "wanted" to win this AFC game against a team it may be battling for a wild card berth and/or playoff seeding once the season ends, NO SINGULAR game is "THAT" important to take such a huge risk on the brain health of their franchise QB. That's ESPECIALLY true THIS early in the season AND given the fact the Jets lost their game today before the Bills ever took the field against the Texans ... i.e., even if the Bills lost to the Texans, they would STILL REMAIN in first place in the AFC East, so no need to jeopardize Josh Allen by having him return to the game if he had suffered a concussion. All that said, I'm certainly hopeful and willing for the NFL to do an investigation and interview process ... but given the above, I'm NOT yet willing to "PRESUME" the Bills medical staff acted wrongly/improperly.

It must have "killed you" (metaphorically speaking, of course) to have been unable to find any actual error to criticize. I suspect you're the sort of person who lives for the moment to identify and "jump on" folks' spelling, punctuation, and/or typographical errors. I, on the other hand, generally accept folks' personal style of expression and focus instead on the substance of their comments rather than worrying about individual style or typos ... as that approach tends to bear the most discussion fruit. For example, I accept that your personal written expression "style" may be to refrain from capitalizing the first word of your sentences, and to avoid any punctuation mark that would indicate that your sentences have ended -- and I couldn't care less to comment upon that. However, my primary response comment centers on the fact that, in advancing NOTHING substantive, you executed keystrokes without truly "saying" anything to the readership that might in any way spark helpful, relevant discussion -- which is a terrible shame and lost opportunity.

If it wasn't for the spotters, he would not have gone into the tent. He told them 'No' initially. Your observation of his left hand was spot on also the fact that he was 'laid out' not moving and the staff went right to his upper-body/head (never any focus on the knee/limping by Allen). He should not have gone back on the field. My last concussion I was out for a few seconds like Allen was. I looked normal but I my brain was messed up for about 4-5 days. And since I have a lot of experience (I lectured on brain injuries and had several from sports) I know that it takes a few months to 'recover' from a concussion (you never fully recover). This happens in life. Some get a pass and others not. Just depends on who’s more “important” or favored.

Even last week Josh Allen took a gnarly head blow and wasn't even taken out.

Isn't smelling salt for people who are unconscious?! Smh. This is unacceptable. They are playing with people's lives. There was only a few minutes left, take the L and get him help and do a thorough protocol. No one believes he hurt his ankle or chest. He didnt limp off. He didnt even get hit in the chest, dude tackled his ankles. Everything happening to Tua should have eveyone on alert and these medical "professionals" should be held accountable.

Did the doctors clear him because the NFL office ordered them to do so? Because too much betting money was on the line? I never underestimate how slimy the NFL actually is.

Hey Dr. Brian Sutterer I enjoy watching your videos. I know you primarily do American sport injuries but can you also do injury breakdown videos that happen in European futbol (soccer).
