The reason they skipped the naming is because it was from Rimuru's perspective. Ogres are superior level monsters so naming 6 ogres consumed so much magicules that his mind was fuzzy and he couldn't remember naming them. I was initially confused when I read this in the novel as well, but they adapted it exactly the same nothing left out. I'm assuming they did it like this to emphasize the difference in naming ogres compared to goblins.

Well Lizardmen is the lowest of their evolution in SlimeSeries so basically they won't design a Lizardmen that is like Overlord already because they will evolve so it basically it useless. Unlike in Overlord's Lizardmen are gonna be that way throughout the story so designing a baddest characters make sense. When these Lizardmen become Dragonewts that's when I can think which one is better.

Whenever I think of Orcs my immediate thoughts go to Dragon Quest orcs and I imagine them as "pig men", so I like the design for these Orcs, I also prefer these lizardmen, mostly because of their eyes, but also because to me, Overlord lizardmen mainly look like either buff crocodiles or lanky geckos, so I like that all of Slime lizardmen have a "generalized lizard" look

When I first saw the orcs in this anime, I thought of Legend of Zelda, don't remember if they are actually called orcs though, now that I think about it... Hmm, Moblins, nothing ties them to orcs I guess, except their appearance is similar to these Orcs, Ganon also is pig like, and kind of resembles the Orc Lord. I won't say anything else, but based on what the story of these orcs are in slime, their history, the Orc Lords powers, it makes sense that they would be pig-like Orcs.

information: Kijin (鬼人族キジン Kijin, lit. "Oni People Tribe"?) are powerful beings from the Ogre tribe who have evolved after many long years. I would say that the slime lizardmen looks more like house lizards whereas overlords lizardmen are definitely more like Gatormen and when I think of a lizard I definitely don't think of gators I think of a like normal bland lizard in that regard I would say that slime has the more accurate interpretation whereas overlords lizardmen just went for wow factor

Kijin are a specific type of Oni in Japanese myth that are slightly more human like and civilised then regular Oni so my guess would be the manga was sightly mistranslated.

I agree with the CGI in overlord, the ogres, trolls, and probably the worst was the goblins(not the named ones), it just looked so bad, honestly it would have been better to have one 2D goblin drawn and animated, then cloned using CGI techniques(to get perspective scaling), since they all looked the same of the same type anyway. I mean, having 1 character drawn and cloned can't be that much more expensive then having an artist make a 3d model and animate it, right? And it would look a LOT better.

I know I am late, but yeah I agree, the Overlord lizardmen do look cooler, and probably more unique, also their behaviour seemed more lizardmen like compared to other stories. I know that is weird to state about a fictional species, but the way when they were first introduced that the brother was behaving, unable to contain his excitement over the tasty fish, and when the main lizardman met the albino(sorry I literately cannot remember their names right now, but hopefully it is clear who I am talking about). Where as lizardmen in other stories tend to just act like humans, either that, or mindless monsters. Gabiru though, I love him as a character, even though he is an idiot.

The whole style of Slime and overlord is different. Slime looks more cartoony, so of course the Lizardmen look more cartoony too. The overlord Lizardmen look more detailed, but as character I far far prefer Gabil and his merry band. I know what's coming though because I read the novels. Gabil is really funny.

Personally I prefer the Lizardmen of overlord to the Lizardmen of Slime, though 5'th edition warhammer Lizardmen skinks are my favorite Lizardmen. THe ones following the named one look alright in their armor, the named fella look alright but he doesn't make me think of a Lizardman.

@@matheussavelar After he gets humbled he's not to bad but yeah at the start he's kind of a prick. Also Why do people compare characters strengths across different series? If the rules of their respective worlds are different then there's no point as they might not translate to a common baseline. I prefer to sick to power scaling people from within the same series since you can put them under the same set of rules.
