Geld's punches were also slowly eroding Shogo's soul. That's why Razen killed him way earlier. Only evolution can heal soul, so Shogo was useless. What Rimuru did was the same thing as using magnifying glass, but on way higher scale. He concentrated sunlight using these water drops. Their deaths were way more brutal in the novel and the manga btw.

The manga and light novel both made an effort to call out how rotten these three Otherworlder kids were. Each got a comment about his or her character flaw, and how ironic it was that their conceit was turned back on them. Kyoya, the swordsman, in particular -- Hakurou mentioned how he remembered seeing Kyoya target his victims' vitals but seemed to be enjoying keeping them alive a little longer, savoring their pain.

Oh yeah when Rimuru used Megiddo in the manga it was much more brutal! It was pretty quick and painless for the guys who got headshot right away but it was very painful for the guys who didn’t get headshot. In the Manga the beams of light were strong enough to cut off the soldiers arms and legs. You see soldiers holding their severed limbs just wailing out in pain and confusion. The soldiers who got hit in the guts are just laying on the ground in agony. Plus there was the added sheer terror that they felt because they had no idea what was going on! We might get to see some of this in the next episode of the anime but who knows, probably not.

What we all need to remember is that Rimuru did NOT want any of this to happen. I will give an explanation based on the Light Novel and this will not be spoiler because this is just a further explanation that happened in this episode --The Shield Geld used was made from Scales that they gathered from Charybdis and its listed as a Unique Piece of Equipment. --What Gobta used was a New Invention that Rimuru talked over with Kurobee and Kaijin when he taught them Stuff from Earth, so they created a Scrabbard that could fire a Bullet. They named it The Coil Cannon Ice Lightning Sword, which is an enchanted short sword (Kodachi) with two magic gems in the hilt that was created for Gobta by Kurobe for his victory against Gabiru as promised by Rimuru. The sword had an enchantment in each gem: Icicle Lance and Black Lightning. The sheath of the sword also had a coiled wire and Magic Steel lining the inside, and a replaceable projectile in the bottom. When energized with Black Lightning, it forces the projectile out like a rail gun. It is stated that Rimuru decreed that this is the only gun allowed to be created, as he trusted only Gobta with such a powerful and revolutionary weapon. --Rimuru uses the Extra Skill Control Gravity to stay in Place in the Sky. The Wings are only there for Intimidation and that he always used them before learning Control Gravity to Fly around, so its like a habit. --Rimuru aimed in the NOvels and Manga sometimes slightly off the Trajectory for hitting there Heads or Heart, severing an Arm, an Leg or hitting them somewhere else on there Body to give them a Critical Hit ( like hitting a Lung, Liver or so) which added to the Horryfing Scene even more ( due to Soldiers who dont know what happen to there Comrades and then there are Soldiers who scream from Pain) --When Hakuro opened the 3rd Eye, he activated his own Extra Skill " Heavengaze" which is a slightly superior Version of Kyoyas All Seeing Eye and allows the user to predict an opponent's move in-battle. --After Kyoyas Head was chopped of, in Theory a Human still lives for 10 Seconds afterwards. Since he accelerated his THought Process to 300 times, that would prolong his death to roughly 80Seconds (1min and 20 seconds) until he truly dies. Truly a fitting Death for someone who had Fun watching others Suffer ( Plus it was stated that he toyed with the Victims he slashed, he intentially didnt gave Final Blows and let them Suffer and Die from Critital Wounds) Megiddo (lit. "God's Wrath") is Physics Magic used by Rimuru Tempest to gather ten thousand Souls for his awakening. Great Sage works as some Sort of Target Computer, who calculate the Angles for the Water Droplets that they reflect the SUnbeams and varius other Stuff. --Effects This magic uses Spirit Magic to create small water droplets shaped by Water Elementals to create lenses that focus light into laser beams that are deadly to humans even at Rank A. Smaller water droplets are then used as mirrors to redirect the lasers toward the targets. This process is very energy efficient, the attack itself uses no Magicules, Natural Energy, or Spirit Particles, so any anti-magic barriers are entirely useless against the beams. --Weaknesses It can only be used at daytime. Scattering fine particles like dust or sand can impede or negate the attack. Being Physics Magic, it cannot be blocked with an Anti-Magic barrier, but yes, if you use a Physics barrier or a wall/shield of the first category. Trivia -Rimuru gained the inspiration for this magic from Hinata's Disintegration Magic. -The name of the Magic, "Megiddo," is the Hebrew word for Armageddon, as well as the name of a place in Israel called Tel Megiddo, which is the prophesized location of the final battle between good and evil. Some more Pieces of Information. First off, Gelds Rot Attack plus his Consistent Attack on Shogo after he gained the Unique Skill Survivor, not only attacked all the Pain he felt his Soul, but also Rot started to attack his Soul too, so his Soul was almost Dead when Razen helped him ( and used his Spell to kill his Soul entirely) Shogos Unique Skills Berserker and Survivor: Berserker was the Unique Skill of Shogo Taguchi that he obtained upon being summoned. Thanks to Shogo's previous lessons in martial arts combined with this skill, he was capable of killing 30 Sorcerors of Farmas after his Summon. Admittedly, he may have killed more without the aid of Razen. Abilities Physical Attack Increase: The user's strength, speed, and other physical-based statistics are increased in power. Death Benefit: The user gains more strength as more individuals die around them. Skills 「Indestructible Body」: Seemingly increases the physical durability of the user. It does not seem to be Physical Attack Nullification, but it may come with: Physical Attack Resistance and Pain Nullification. Unfortunately, it is weak to Natural Effects such as Corrosion and Rot. Survivor was a Unique Skill granted to Shogo Taguchi, likely through Berserker. It was granted to him based on his desire to live, during his fight with Geld. Abilities Ultraspeed Regeneration: Even when being repeatedly injured, the user would regenerate near endlessly. This does not apply to spiritual attacks, however. 2 other Abiiliets are Elemental Resistance and Cancel Pain Kiraras Unique Skill Bewilderer and her Background: The Unique Skill of Kirara Mizutani. She is forbidden from using it when within Farmas due to its widespread area-of-effect. When she was first summoned she "accidentally" killed a vast amount of the mages involved in her summoning by commanding them to die. Due to the danger this skill possessed and Kirara's own dislike for Falmuth, this skill was sealed away by Razen using a powerful Curse and only released when Kirara is given orders for a mission. --Abilities Thought Domination: Thought Manipulation: Command: Targets that are within a vast radius (roughly an entire town-square) are able to be forced under her command. This is strong enough to downright command individuals to commit mass suicide. Kirara was still young, aged eighteen when she had been summoned into Falmuth-controlled land three years prior to attacking Tempest. Her skill-which involved influencing people's thoughts during negotiation-wasn't directly related to battle, which led to rough treatment and assumptions that she was just another failed summons at first. Not sure if someone has covered this. But the spell "Megiddo" isn't as clear in the anime as it is in the manga. So to clarify. Rinuru tempest using his water manipulation skill which is not magic. Allowing him to cast it in an anti magic area. Has created dozens of convex shaped lenses in the sky. That are absorbing sunlight. And shooting it down to small drop of water that change its direction under his will to manually target the soldiers. The death itself is fairly quick. But rimuru is not simply one shotting everything. He is letting some survive to watch the others die before killing them. He is taking his time with this despite how fast it seems to be going. He is actually going quite slow. This is to breed panic and mass hysteria. To mentally torment the soldiers who know their dying but not why. How. Or how to escape. So although they might be dying quickly... it is still a torment in and of itself.

The soldiers at the crystals were responsible for the attack on the town. They deserved no mercy. The ones Rimuru killed just marched from the kingdom, and includes people that may be ruthless killers but also just soldiers serving their country or cause. So as to be as efficient as possible, and not to terrorize someone just at the wrong place at the wrong time, a quick death seems best.

Judging by the way it looks, Megiddo seems to take the light source around the little bubbles/plates next to Rimuru in the sky, amplifies them, then sends them down, using the water drops to bounce the laser around. Depending on how the water drops are placed, they could be completely harmless (bouncing around threateningly but not actually killing anyone) or they could be extremely deadly as shown in this example.

Although in the nl, Rimuru severed limbs first to spread panic and fear before actually killing them. Although it's admiteddly more merciful this way, it's also a less honourable death. They're not even worth Rimuru's time. They are nothing more than food and fuel and maybe, just maybe, they can feel a little honoured that they were his fuel to become a demon lord.

In the novel and the Manga its a bit more brutal as Rimmuru deliberately leave some alive with like amputated arms, legs, or just non immediately fatal holes in their body. But honestly I like the Anime version more. As this really feels more like the Wrath of God, no real anger no rage, no unnecessary cruelty, just an unstoppable, un forgiving and final reaping of lives. With the name being Megido which is a Biblical reference it does have the feel of the Angel of Death going through Egypt and killing all the First Born

It doesn't say so, but that knight was from earth and his skill was called Spearhead, but I guess they didn't go into detail because, well, you'll see next week.

To answer your question. Megiddo was censored. Those white circles are actually gaping holes. Most are struck in the heart or the head. Those struck in the head die near instantly but those struck in the heart live for just a little bit. More than the pain being inflicted what Rimaru did was instill absolute terror, many of his victims believe that they are suffering the wrath of an angry god.

I think most people reacting on this episode couldn't clearly tell what was happening with Megiddo. From what I could tell, Rimuru first covered the area with a barrier that prevents magic from being usable. Then, using water droplets floating in the air as makeshift reflective magnifying glasses, he gathered and shot laser beams of compressed sunlight towards the enemy, which bounce around via said water droplets having the power to piercing through all matter and leaving no place to hide. It's like trapping the enemy inside a mirror box with laser beams inside bouncing infinitely. Since sunlight is not magic it can just go around freely while the enemy can't counteract it, especially since they lack the scientific knowledge about lasers and such.

(Spoiler Free) --The Shield Geld used was made from Scales that they gathered from Charybdis and its listed as a Unique Piece of Equipment. --What Gobta used was a New Invention that Rimuru talked over with Kurobee and Kaijin when he taught them Stuff from Earth, so they created a Scabbard that could fire a Bullet. They named it The Coil Cannon Ice Lightning Sword, which is an enchanted short sword (Kodachi) with two magic gems in the hilt that was created for Gobta by Kurobe for his victory against Gabiru as promised by Rimuru. The sword had an enchantment in each gem: Icicle Lance and Black Lightning. The sheath of the sword also had a coiled wire and Magic Steel lining the inside, and a replaceable projectile in the bottom. When energized with Black Lightning, it forces the projectile out like a rail gun. It is stated that Rimuru decreed that this is the only gun allowed to be created, as he trusted only Gobta with such a powerful and revolutionary weapon. --Rimuru uses the Extra Skill Control Gravity to stay in Place in the Sky. The Wings are only there for Intimidation and that he always used them before learning Control Gravity to Fly around, so its like a habit. --Rimuru aimed in the Novels and Manga sometimes slightly off the Trajectory for hitting there Heads or Heart, severing an Arm, an Leg or hitting them somewhere else on there Body to give them a Critical Hit ( like hitting a Lung, Liver or so) which added to the Horrifying Scene even more ( due to Soldiers who don't know what happen to there Comrades and then there are Soldiers who scream from Pain) --When Hakuro opened the 3rd Eye, he activated his own Extra Skill " Heaven gaze" which is a slightly superior Version of Kyoyas All Seeing Eye and allows the user to predict an opponent's move in-battle. --After Kyoyas Head was chopped of, in Theory a Human still lives for 10 Seconds afterwards. Since he accelerated his THought Process to 300 times, that would prolong his death to roughly 80Seconds (1min and 20 seconds) until he truly dies. Truly a fitting Death for someone who had Fun watching others Suffer ( Plus it was stated that he toyed with the Victims he slashed, he initially didn't gave Final Blows and let them Suffer and Die from Critical Wounds) ***Megiddo ("God's Wrath") is Physics Magic used by Rimuru Tempest to gather ten thousand Souls for his awakening. Great Sage works as some Sort of Target Computer, who calculate the Angles for the Water Droplets that they reflect the Sunbeams and various other Stuff. --Effects This magic uses Spirit Magic to create small water droplets shaped by Water Elementals to create lenses that focus light into laser beams that are deadly to humans even at Rank A. Smaller water droplets are then used as mirrors to redirect the lasers toward the targets. This process is very energy efficient, the attack itself uses no Magicules, Natural Energy, or Spirit Particles, so any anti-magic barriers are entirely useless against the beams. --Weaknesses It can only be used at daytime. Scattering fine particles like dust or sand can impede or negate the attack. Being Physics Magic, it cannot be blocked with an Anti-Magic barrier, but yes, if you use a Physics barrier or a wall/shield of the first category. Trivia -Rimuru gained the inspiration for this magic from Hinata's Disintegration Magic. -The name of the Magic, "Megiddo," is the Hebrew word for Armageddon, as well as the name of a place in Israel called Tel Megiddo, which is the prophesized location of the final battle between good and evil. First off, Gelds Rot Attack plus his Consistent Attack on Shogo after he gained the Unique Skill Survivor, not only attacked all the Pain he felt his Soul, but also Rot started to attack his Soul too, so his Soul was almost Dead when Razen helped him ( and used his Spell to kill his Soul entirely) ******Shogos Unique Skills Berserker and Survivor: Berserker was the Unique Skill of Shogo Taguchi that he obtained upon being summoned. Thanks to Shogo's previous lessons in martial arts combined with this skill, he was capable of killing 30 Sorcerers of Farmas after his Summon. Admittedly, he may have killed more without the aid of Razen. -Abilities Physical Attack Increase: The user's strength, speed, and other physical-based statistics are increased in power. Death Benefit: The user gains more strength as more individuals die around them. -Skills 「Indestructible Body」: Seemingly increases the physical durability of the user. It does not seem to be Physical Attack Nullification, but it may come with: Physical Attack Resistance and Pain Nullification. Unfortunately, it is weak to Natural Effects such as Corrosion and Rot. Survivor was a Unique Skill granted to Shogo Taguchi, likely through Berserker. It was granted to him based on his desire to live, during his fight with Geld. -Abilities Ultra speed Regeneration: Even when being repeatedly injured, the user would regenerate near endlessly. This is strong enough to downright command individuals to commit mass suicide. Kirara was still young, aged eighteen when she had been summoned into Falmuth-controlled land three years prior to attacking Tempest. Her skill-which involved influencing people's thoughts during negotiation-wasn't directly related to battle, which led to rough treatment and assumptions that she was just another failed summons at first. Kirara then massacred all of her summoner's until she was finally put down under a locking curse. Ever since, Kirara's skill had been sealed away, restricted from activating without permission.

Btw Meggido isn't a skill but original magic of Rimuru's and Great Sage's design. It uses water spirits to manipulate moisture and create lenses that gather sunlight and reflect them off of millions of water droplets plaxed strategically in the atmosphere. It also goes through the their barriers because the light isn't magical but physical. This move can be easily countered if you knew about it. Its actually a VERY complex spell. Rimuru's pretty much the only one who could do it due to the supercomputer levels of calculations required to execute this effectively. Great Sage takes care of the calculations and Rimuru does the rest with GS supporting him. TDLR: He's firing superheated and compressed light not thicker than a pencil through thousands of soldiers armor and magic barriers.
