Inspired by this video and others on KZbin, I took my '19 XV to Bribie. It handled it very well. I only got bogged once on the access track at the beginning of this video owing to a car getting bogged in front of me and needing to come to a complete stop. It got out super easy though with a max tracks. Otherwise, it kept up with the Jeep Compass I was with no worries. A couple bits of advice: 1. Turn traction control off every time you start the car or you will get bogged and obviously deflate tyres (I was travelling on my stock tyres and they went fine) 2. My plastic bash/skid plate under the front got dislodged (the plastic pop rivets came out), so get some from supercheap before you go so you can do some running repairs. Ideally, I plan to buy a metal skid plate for future trips.

nice job. Good vid with interesting editing and drone footage. Inspired me. Going to hit Bribie Is. this Xmas break. Just need to fit my new underbody protection to my XV and then good to go.

Good idea about some underbody protection, mine did hit hard a couple of times.

Two Questions - a. Did you have to adjust tyre pressures before & after going on the beach? b. Any general "does & don't for driving an XV in sand?

Yes, most important thing is to drop tyre pressure before going on the sand and increase pressure back to normal ASAP when back off the sand, we had 3 adults on board with tyre pressure down to 20psi, the XV had no problem at all even in dry deep sand, momentum always helps, pick your spots to stop, ease on power, don’t spin wheels to dig in.
