Morning Andy. That radius bay was nice work. Hats off to who ever built that. The Beige Lord gave you a good mention on his coloured pointing video. Now it makes sense to me. I have often seen pointing just as you showed with the black under the window sills but nowhere else. I just thought it was traffic grime.

Hi Andy couple of decent jobs especially the one on the ground no hassle with scaffold ! Nothing much doing for you in the reclamation yard plenty of York stone give that a miss lol atleast you treated yourself to new battery grinder and horse hair brush hope you had a good bank holiday weekend 🍻

Andy, I sympathise regarding your back. I have an Osteopath on speed dial - and the cold and wet weather plays havoc with it - so roll on Summer. I like the squint bay job . (Job No 1) Need your calm and patient head on for that, good access though. I have been retired seven years now - and I still cannot walk past a building site without having a good look, and chatting to the builders if possible. Same goes for those re-claim yards. Drives my wife mad when we are out - I just have to visit those yards.....dreaming of past glories. Then after a while its bollocks to that and find the nearest Boozer. P-U-B........? Good luck with pricing those jobs - that one with the radius brickwork could turn out to be a pain in the proverbial. All the best Andy. 😁👍👍

Two things Andy, l use to get new bricks from out cranleigh way and Rudgwick and would match the jobs your doing. Take photos of the pot holes and get quotes/bills for the repairs and your inconvenience then submit it to the local council. I’m told they have an inbuilt budget for such claims which is now getting up to somewhere on what they use to spend fixing the roads (when they use to of course). Hope this helps.

I dont have any experience with stone, what mix are you using? I know lads who do it prefer hot limes there are a couple of FB Lime groups who may be able to help.
@Ste-ux1rm6 ай бұрын
2 grit 2 soft 1 lime Yeah we’ve been told to use hot lime before but only on a church This is just some 3.5 hydrochloric I think, thanks Andy, really enjoy watching your stuff

@@Ste-ux1rm try swapping the soft sand for plastering sand maybe, to be honest i find the whole lime thing can a bit of a pain to work with and make money from,90% of my work is in London ,Herts and Essex with local bricks that over 25 years i can now pretty much now suss out the mixes and how they will work but i have no idea with stone or even Bwk in other parts of the country👍
@jonb123216 ай бұрын
Seems like a very sandy mix, if you look on bags of NHL it recommends something like 2:1 or 2.5:1 sand/lime. I use loads of lime mixes with sandstone, no problem, but I can imagine problems with less porous stone like flint or limestone. I mostly use NHL but sometimes lime putty (ready-slaked lime in tubs), mostly something like 1 grit, 1.5 soft, 1 lime.
@Ste-ux1rm6 ай бұрын
@@jonb12321 sorry I got it wrong yes we are using 1 grit 1 soft 1 lime so it is 2-1 we go told by an expert as they say, to keep wetting the wall, which we do, I just think the stone sucks out the water so quickly

I get that a lot in Norfolk, soft red bricks repointed in sand and cement instead of lime! I don’t think people get the importance to be honest! Hope you took a pic of that pothole mate, roads are a disgrace!
