For a first tank, I'd say that is spot on. Isn't it mad the fact that the more you get into goldfish the more the tiny little imperfections stand out and you constantly want higher and higher quality fish. Eventually you end up looking for goldfish that get into the Asian Arowana price ranges. It's crazy. I love the black sand look and those pebbles, whilst they collect fish poop, if you whip them out while doing maintenance, they're not a massive issue. But, the more you get into goldfish, the more you aim for higher quality living conditions for the fish.

Can you only enter ranchu or oranda just as a ryukin lover and some nice young ryukin be nice to enter them no problem if has to be ranchu or oranda

So I have really soft water coming out the tap, should I be buffering them to keep my Ph stable? Both Gh&Kh coming out around 1-3 from my tap

Yes I would definitely consider buffering your water to prevent a pH crash. Bi carbonate of soda works well or crushed coral as a filter media.

The buffering agents will help stabilise it. I think NT labs do a product called buffer up as well
