The wall plate never sticks to the sand / cement you say….i got into the habit of tacking wire mesh to my wall plates on the side even leading around to the wall internally to take any plastering on the inside and also for the compo to grip onto the wall plate …bit fiddly to do but well worth it to keep your wall plate in position…just a way I’ve got into doing it then there’s the argument who’s job is it carpenter or bricklayer - I’d say because it involves bedding on it’s the bricklayers job…

Bang on mate, like that little tip
@user-DANWALKER106610 ай бұрын
@@IzzytheBricky Lots of people don’t seem to mesh the internal wall plate they just plaster over it - then they wonder why it all cracks later on the wood expanding and contracting but with mesh already on it the plaster adheres better to it and it shouldn’t crack at the top of the wall… cheers Izzy love your work bring on some videos I’ve ran out of videos to watch now I think!

Tidy job Izzy, wish some of our local brickies were abit more like you. The height of the wallplate will not always be level with the existing, in this case as you are using trusses it will be. If a traditional cut roof was going on the size of new rafter being used and any difference in cavity size between new and old walls would affect the height, always best to check with carpenter if you can.

Hiya mate! This is very common practice in England! In Fact, it's considered a must 💪 Hope your well glad your enjoying the videos
@edskapin7171 Жыл бұрын
@@IzzytheBricky I am also a Bricky with 44 years experience. Your practice of not putting on a vapor barrier on the block surface inside the cavity allows moisture access into the house. It is not allowed in North America or most countries around the world. Neither is casting untreated wood in mortar or concrete. It will rot out over time. You will find this in most building codes around the world for good reason.
