How do you keep the bottom of the blocks flush with the block down below any tips to stop them from kicking out at the bottom
@IzzytheBricky3 жыл бұрын
Always good to check the first course quickly with a level. Not too much bed..smashing blocks down to the line makes everything belly out. Just depends how the blocks are really...if they are dry it ain't too bad..but when they are wet, they can belly out really easily

Mate everyone has an opinion on the vertical damp and starter ties but if its on the plans then you follow the drawing. Yea we used to open the cavities out in the late 80s and 90s but ive not seen that asked for here in wales since then. Your doing a good job there Isaac love your pride in the job mate you can see you want to do it right. One bit of advice from an old git mate and just to help no criticism mate .Think about a labourer because all the reduced movements in laying a block is useless if your loading and mixing and topping up spots especially as u get up on first lift and second is even harder gables harder again. You will kill yourself at 40 you be finshed its to much trust me ive done it .listen no criticism like i said just trying to share some advice and knowledge as an old head mate .love the videos and your passion in the job along with your pride will see you good in bricklaying. Good luck isaac mate . Justin 👍

So correct on being the only bricklayer on job a prefer it that way also. Nobody to fall out with 😝😝👍🏻 Yeap always one movement required joint straight onto the block that’s been laid on the wall always done many can’t do it with falling over the shop lol the strain on the hand jointing when in hand is nonsense unless the feather light blocks. Not happening with the 7n concretes proper blocks lol
@IzzytheBricky3 жыл бұрын
Haha yes mate! I think I saw someone on Instagram doing it like that.. I've need loads of lads do it, and with these jobs being hefty thought I'd try it💪 like u just said, no need to have block in hand when perping..unless it's a ultra light 👌👌 Have a good weekend mate! Cheers🍻🍻🍻😊

Always a debate about the vertical damp, I've built hundreds of extensions over 47 years and never done it once. My local authority BC don't like it as it weakens the building as wall ties aren't every 225 and them starters don't hold anything. To be honest if it was done properly the cavity should be cut in to make it continues which is something we used to do before wall starters came out when we used to tooth out. Trowel on top of the block Mmm 😁
