I am a fully time served bricklayer in Scotland my wife is Australian. We are thinking of moving to oz. However I haven't built brick since my training days at college some 16/17 years ago its all timberframe with block work then rough cast here. Just out of curiosity what advice would you give to a guy in my position? What is the demand for brick/blocklayers around the sunshine coast and the ball park going rate? Any advice greatly appreciated.

We only ever use one bracket, we set it up, put pressure down on the pole and tap the bracket up with a hammer. If it’s the whole side of a house and have to pull the line ridiculously tight then will put to brackets up

Hi mate, Never start a another job with the same company until paid from the first house. Certainly don’t buy any material’s. I have been in this game for nearly 40 years. Tell them you want payment before you start from the outstanding invoices. Then walk away.

No good mate, hope it all works out for you and the lads. Are you hearing anything about timber for framing and trusses being in short supply? Starting to impact the industry here in South Australia. Keep up the content 🧱

We are seeing some delays across the board now mate a lot of timber companies struggle to keep up. Same with sand and soils. And the hardest hit might be the brick factories as far as scheduling goes. Cheers

Instead of pushing the bracket up with the level Marc it at 150 ×150 clamp it an hit it the bracket up after clamping an it will push down no need for double clamps unless you are running a massive section then definitely double bracket

Hope you get what they're due you by the end of the week at latest mate. Sods law you didn't find out a few hours earlier so you could decide on starting. Wouldn't leave any your gear onsite until weighed in for work already completed now though. All businesses in the construction game have cash flow issues from time to time so try not to stress too much about it. No doubt they're doing all they can to get everybody paid and the ball rolling again.

Yes but the motor I put in it was apparently not of good quality as I had the choice on what motor to put in. We might be able to claim it on insurance 🤞
@aaronstately3 жыл бұрын
@@hendosbricklaying2003 That sounds odd... you get to choose which motor but you chose the wrong motor? I have a 15hp LIFAN Chinese honda copy and its a beast at a 3rd of the price. I have a couple and keep brand new motor as a spare, Try pressurewasherpartsonline they are heaps better than spitwater etc.. you dont really get Australian like they say.. its Honda motor, itialian pumps. Both chinese is good and cheaper. .. buy 2. 2 is 1, 1 is none as the Navy seals say.
@hendosbricklaying20033 жыл бұрын
@@aaronstately so I didn’t know a lot about the set ups and all of that nature. My mate got it made Up for me. We didn’t think we would use it as much as we have. Getting up to 20 hours a week use) so we opted for a cheaper motor similar to the one your explaining it was China made and about 1/3 of the price and it ran good for the first 3 months . I took it back to the pressure washing company that assembled it and they said it’s a cheap shit motor that will never last the test of time no durability and say I need to Get a Honda in it to be able to handle that workload
@aaronstately3 жыл бұрын
@@hendosbricklaying2003 The Lifan motors are great, ive had them running non stop hours upon hours, lots of exposed agg. One thing to do, is to change the oil though... use small engine oil, or 4 stroke motor bike oil. (same for the pump... change the oil in the pump housing) Also consider for your next machine... not having a direct drive pump... but gear box driven or belt driven.. it relies less on engine RPM for pressure...
