Drew, a quick note: the BRICS aren't a real alliance. It's just an acronym that investors came up with to talk about some emerging economies. They have summits occasionally but many of them actively work against each other (ex. India and China) or have no real reason to cooperate (Ex. South Africa wouldn't align themselves with Russia when its more profitable and safer to align with America and their gigantic navy)
