❤️ Here is a commercial I did for our local PMT company. This aired in February of 2020 • PMT Business Spotlight...
❤️ In fact if you want to see any of our old commercials, just look at the older videos on this channel. I was able to recover my old channel instead of making a new one. (I was not aware that I would be able to do that at the filming of this video.) This allowed me to keep some of those very old commercials. LOL
❤️ Here is a link to the playlist that has 7 videos from my other channel, including 2 tours of my sewing studio and a how to video for bridal sleeves. • Sewing, Fashion & Bridal
❤️ Here is a time I was surprised by the community. I was upstairs sewing when one of my bridal consultants called me down. I came down to my entire shoppe filled with people. They gifted me the Extra Mile Award for my work in the disaster of the big name bridal supplier, Alfred Angelo shut down. I, along with all the bridal shops across the country, had to scramble to make sure brides had gowns for their upcoming weddings. It was a near disaster but the hard work of my staff and the community of shop owners made it possible for not a single bride to be disappointed. It was an emotional day after a long hard summer when the city of Twin falls entered into my bridal boutique

I’m so excited to have found this channel! I am a bridal stylist at a shop which does not offer an in house tailoring service - so answering brides questions is based on my limited knowledge and my own vision for what can or can’t be done. I have been thinking about getting into bridal alterations on my own for some time now, since I’m very familiar with the industry and atmosphere. However, it’s the technical skills where I’m lacking at the moment! I am looking forward to watching your other videos and learning along the way :)

I just found you. I’ve been altering for plus or minus thirty years. All my altering career was me blundering and working my way through a dark tunnel with one mentor who thrust the business on me because she wanted to sew wedding dresses full time. I had one sign hanging in the only fabric shop of our tiny town located in the middle of the west desert of Utah. My mentor then decided to go to work full time in the local high school, and ultimately moved away. So I was on my own. I considered my business more of a service than income producing. I started out charging $10 per hour and I altered everything from prom dresses to men’s suits and lots of things in between. But the prom dresses were the garments I did most, and when a girl wanted shoulders or the back covered, I gave her a modesty discount. I never charged for travel to Salt Lake to get the perfect color fabric to make a back piece behind the lacing, because I went up once a week to sing in a choir. I’ve watched a few of your videos, and you do wonderful work. I love how you film and carefully explain. I would have loved having your channel as a reference back then. All I’ve learned has been through opening those seams and seeing how it is done. Funny story, my first job, sent to me by my friend, involved altering the bust. Her older sister was more endowed. I stood there in my living room with the mother and girl carefully pinning and taking down contact information, trying to act all professional. As soon as they left, I called my friend and exclaimed “Are you kidding me?” But I blundered into this job with much trepidation, and when she came back for the fitting it turned out. I felt like sending up fireworks, and thus began a long career of altering. We’ve moved twice since those days when my husband retired, but those jobs still find me, and here lately I’ve mostly been altering for grandchildren. But recently I mentioned that I had altered my granddaughter’s dress, and a lady gasped asking if I did that for others. She said the local seamstress had moved away… but it’s okay. I have a nice sewing room and a great machine, so I’ll probably keep going.

I’m so glad you found me!!! I too wish KZbin was a thing back when I started. I “faked” my way through learning as I went. I love your story so much!! ❤️ often we don’t have enough confidence in our own abilities and these “situations” force us to learn and grow. 🤗 I don’t live too far from you. I’m in Idaho. I too do a lot of “temple builds” with sleeves etc. 😊 Thank you so much for watching and commenting! And I’m glad to have you on the journey with me. I’m sure you will have lots of amazing advice and encouragement to help those just starting out. Have a great weekend!

Hello 👋 My sewing studio is an old single car garage that my hubby helped me transform. You can easily post videos to your channel by clicking on the plus sign ➕ at the bottom of the app home page. Now days I don’t have to advertise because I had a bridal shop for 16 years and it created a word of mouth snowball. lol But the best way is to talk to your local bridal shops, give them your cards. Put your cards at the local fabric store, sewing center etc. Also crest social media pages for your business and watch for people asking on different platforms for sewing projects. Etc. soon you will have way more business than you want. 😃
