I think it spoke volumes on the kind of man he is, when all his groomsman chose to stay with her. I believe the only guests who left were his parents and they spoke to her privately and left out of respect bc they wanted her to have fun and not feel weird in front of them bc they also seemed to love her and were letdown by their sons choice. He literally had no one on his “side” and she was able to have the entire wedding celebrate her perseverance. She just sounds like such an optimistic person. It’s refreshing in this day and age to see someone not so burnt out.

I think it might have been his father who made the decision to call her. 'Son...I think its best she doesn't hear this from you.'. I think hearing the news that way, kind of 'softens' the blow for the bride. Instead of being told:"I'm not marrying you today" by her fiance, she was informed by well willing people who sympathize with. That way it doesn't come across as something being done to her. But something terribly unfortunate happened and it was unforseen, totally out of her control and not by her doing. 'I don't want to get married' has a different ring to it when you are standing at the altar.

@roddo1955
@roddo1955 Жыл бұрын
She didn't dodge a bullet. She planned this for two years and was blindsided. When you dodge a bullet, it is because you take action to avoid a situation you don't want and you make a quick decision that safes you. Like the guy,: He was the one who decided to not get married. She only got to decide over what to do once she was told she was dumped. I understand the sentiment but people should take more heed to the meaning of words and common phrases. Technically, the groom was the bullet but he decided not to shoot. Instead; he walked away.
@breezeh1127
@breezeh1127 Жыл бұрын
@@roddo1955 Dodged a bullet is an idiom that means to avoid something harmful or stressful, to avoid disaster. You can still see the groom as the bullet and in this case, inadvertently, she still did dodged it, by not marrying him. It can be seen both ways. You can purposefully move to dodge or you can accidently move and still dodge that same bullet. It also means to have a narrow escape from an undesirable situation. That narrow escape can be by your own doing or by someone else's doing(if it still helped you escape). Get over yourself.

He's gonna realize he's made a big mistake. Not many woman/men are like her or would react this way. Her character, will power, outlook is extremely rare and priceless. Edit* there are some comments assuming I think it's a bad thing to grieve or react in a downtrodden way its not its human. And it's healthy but not for a long time. Grief can keep you stuck very quickly and can easily lead to serious consequences like depression addictions bad habits isolation hurting others cause you're hurt etc. Here's an example we can all relate to I'm sure many of you can recall the whole country grieved in times of tragedy when 9/11 happened or even this pandemic. Sadness and fear lasted a very long time in our country it took most of our collective energy down like quick sand and for many they stayed stuck in that grief fear and sadness. However if you think back there were times you ran across people or looked up to people who were inspiring that made you happy that kept the human spirit alive and sparked motivation in you to keep on truckin'. Those people didn't let the terrorists win those people didn't stop living cause of some virus. Energy is contagious both negative and positive. Look at it this way would you follow a leader in times of tragedy that made you feel happy motivated and inspired you to live life to the fullest and to be the best you could be or would you follow someone who kept you in a rut of grief turmoil and paralyzed with fear? I think the answer is simple.

Good friends are there with you through thick and thin but also to be the one to tell you straight up if you being an ass And tbh groom walking out on her is a blessing in disguised even if people are saying why he waited last minute. Do we say the same thing for people who get divorced eventually even after years of a collapsing and toxic marriage? Why they waited last minute if they werent gonna be together till death does them apart? Well its called life and humans being complicated. Could’ve been worse, they could’ve gotten married even had kids but deep down he regrets marrying but keeps up for the appearance but eventually get divorce or even worse-cheating or loveless marriage. I’m all for people canceling their wedding at any moment. So many marriages end in divorce and/or significant trauma. If you have doubts, even the day of the ceremony, TALK TO your partner and consider calling it off or postponing. A friend called off her Saturday morning wedding late on Friday night. She had some serious and legitimate concerns that needed to be addressed. They took six months, worked through their issues, and then eloped! Super romantic and they’ve been happily married for five years now. 😊 And this should go without saying… but DO NOT send someone else to have that conversation with your partner. This person was not a grown up. How could someone do that?????

I would not marry the person who backs out a day before or a week before. A MONTH before would be excused thought. I would always wonder what else he/she will back out from...
@lexi219

Waiting until an hour before the ceremony is straight up cruel. If he was having doubts, they didn't just occur out of thin air that day. He should have spoken to her about his feelings before then. While it's not ideal, even a few days before the wedding is drastically less psychotic than bailing on someone already in their wedding dress.
@essennagerry

While I agree it's best to talk to your partner in person, if you feel like you can't do it and you're going along with the wedding because you can't bring yourself to do it - do delegate. It's shitty, it really is, but it's better to delegate it to someone to rely it to your partner than to actually marry them when you don't want to. As shitty as this fiancé's actions were, I say thank you for canceling after all and thank you for doing it an hour and a half before and not even later. You can do much better than this, believe that you can change. I wish you all the best which must include healing and betterment and I hope for you you get all the healing and betterment that's good for you.

@@mrsTraveller64 I hear you. But there can be a lot of factors that contribute to someone (even a conscientious and reliable person) waiting or not realizing until the last minute. Just one example: If your relationship has been long-distance and you have only been physically and geographically proximate for the days or weeks leading up to the ceremony. This could be the result of military deployment, moving away for work after college, falling in love internationally and having to work within the confines of the fiancé visa that is only for 90 days, etc.

It happens when women force guys to propose when they r not ready. Guys propose to jist get it over with and end the nagging. But they don't think how far it can go and always end up hurting someone. That's why women should talk to their partners clearly and then plan a wedding.

I experienced a similar situation when I worked for the wedding club. The bride was left quite literally 30 minutes before the ceremony, she took it like a champ though, and instead had a summer solstice celebration since her wedding was on the summer solstice. It was honestly such a fun party to serve, and all the guests were so much fun!

Well she clearly dodged a bullet. Congratulations on enjoying your day! I do hope you find time to grieve though, it's a process that we have to go through to move on healthily. Edit, that's great of the sponsor to give her her $1K!! That's gotta be the best gift as the financial investment on the non-wedding was I'm sure significant. That was quite lovely of them, they didn't have to at all.

I would've been an emotional wreck, taking a year or more to recover from that...but She is a very strong, positive minded woman... literally turning her sorrow into joy and nobody has ever done that. We ought to learn something from her, making the most of every situation. Good he paved the way for someone she deserves than to have lived in an unhappy marriage....but didn't have to waste all that time and resources planning for a wedding he knew wasn't gonna attend. Wishing you all the goodness and joy in life. 🥂

The reception already paid, guests made time to show and so much expenses with dresses makeup florals it would be such a waste but it must of been so hard for her to be happy for others to enjoy when she just had a horrible breakup. The groom is such a coward didn’t even have the guts to tell her himself and to leave her knowing how embarrassing that could of been.
