The brides on the show don't actually get to choose who comes with them. Before they appear on the show they have to fill out a long application that asks personal questions about the wedding and who's involved in it, and what the bride's relationship with the people in her party are like. Basically the producers or whoever behind the scenes purposely picks people to accompany the bride who will bring the most drama with them. I read it in an article about the show. It kind of took a little bit of the magic out of it for me, but I still like watching it sometimes.

There is a very simple solution to finding the bride's maids dresses that the bride wants. Leave the mother and mother in law at home. It's wonderful to have mom there to help pick the bride's dress but It isn't really necessary to have mom's and in laws there for the bridesmaids.
