DuJan seemed a very happy person, comfortable in her own skin and whom she is. She knows wearing a dress for a few hours is not going to change her. Her partner was projecting her own feelings on her. I know I wore some horrors of bridesmaid's dresses and lol! I am 100% straight and a girly girl all the way but I will be honest, I would have preferred a tux to some of those horrors. However, I wore them for the bride. Not me. Of course, I am old, and this goes to back when every gal in the wedding party wore the same outfit. Today I love the bride picks a color and lets her bridesmaids pick their own individual style. That said, I would have seen nothing wrong if DuJan had a tux custom made in the same material as bridesmaids dresses and they could have done it. They have tuxes for gay brides there. simply make it in the color and material of the bridesmaid dresses instead. Of course, the price would have been through the roof, but a twin may would be willing to pay that for her sister.

You could tell LaJuan was upset when she said that a conversation happened while she was gone. That’s not how a girlfriend behaves. She’s there to support LaJuan (again, no idea why), not cause trouble between the sisters. I hope she’s a short term girlfriend. 😊

Dejuan's attitude is absolutely perfect. Would she be more comfortable in a pantsuit? Yes. Is she willing to wear a dress for just one day out of her life to make her sister's wedding special? Anyone else think Lori's comments and facial expressions of disgust when talking about pantsuits was not a good look? Dejuan politely expressed what she would feel comfortable wearing; she didn't complain or insist. Why was the idea of perhaps wearing a pantsuit such a shocker? There are many photos of bridal parties on the internet with creative and lovely variations in what the attendants wear. Neither this bridal shop nor Dianna seemed interested in accomodating Dejuan's preferences, and of course that is for the sisters to work out between them. I would imagine that another shop might have been able to suggest a solution that everybody would have liked, or at the very least, apologized that they didn't have anything suitable in their collection, rather than implying that the idea of wearing a pantsuit as a bridesmaid was unthinkable. Over the last few years, options for wedding parties have gotten more creative and inclusive, and I think that's progress. Even if I wasn't a customer who preferred to wear a pantsuit, I'd prefer to shop at a business with more options and a less heteronormative philosophy.

I had to change MOH last minute. My attendants were told to wear a black formal gown they could wear again. The replacement asked if they could wear pants. I said, of course you can! I’d much rather you be comfortable and be able to use it again.

I really understand that Dejuan wants to make her sister happy by wearing a dress for her. Yet I personally think that its crazy what kind of demands brides make nowadays because "IT'S MY DAY!". This one is a mild case, but you hear everything from asking bridesmaids to loose weight, covering tattoos, dying their hair and even worse stuff. I told all my friends and family to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Because for me it wasn't about the perfect looks, but about having the people I love around for this day and everyone enjoying themselves.

My sister had me as bridesmaid, and asked the MOH and other maid to wear whatever fit her color scheme. BUT she had me make a dress out of 4 different patterns , and different materials. It cost close to $800 and she didn't pay. My friend that made it cut me a break on her services. I looked like Victorian lady of the nite, everyone thought I'd done it to outshine her but it was all her idea, and she didn't dispel anyone's thoughts. When I had tried to tone her down, she had a fit. Wedding was outside, and it started to rain for 3 days, so it was moved and postponed for 45 min, with husband to be waiting it out in the bar, and other Male members of family waiting at original venue to direct folks to new one. The groom was well greased by the time everyone assembled, as was bride, and the CD rest of the bridal party ( I didn't drink back then), so it was interesting. Overheard at reception that a few people thought bride and groom looked disheveled but wasnt that one bridesmaid looking more like a bride should.

Honestly the comments are good and well, but its not enough about how the bride addressed the issued. She asked her sister if she's okay with wearing a dress because she doesn't want her sister to be uncomfortable at her wedding, even if it's just one day. She even indicated that she's not trying to change her or anything. Like that shows that even if the wedding is about the bride and groom, the bride wants to make sure that EVERYONE is good and comfortable. This is one of the rare cases where the maid of honor is okay with wearing whatever the bride wants AND her well being is being looked after, whereas other times, the bridesmaid would be a*holes about it even if the bride has their comfort zone and well being in mind.

If she's not used to wearing dresses and as busty as she is, I think she probably would have felt quite uncomfortable on the wedding day, worrying about wardrobe failure. The one shoulder ensures that everything will stay in place AND it balanced out her shoulders, like you said.

I have no idea why that dress couldn't be altered to be more of a "jumper" for Dejuan - with pants, as opposed to a skirt, but with the same top. She would look chic AF. Bridal and bridesmaid pantsuits are becoming more common, and rightfully so, because not every woman (gay, straight or bi) is comfortable in a dress. So why should they be forced to wear one? If there is a way to accommodate your sister, I don't see why you wouldn't do it. Just because it's your wedding doesn't mean you get to sh!t all over peoples' boundaries and comfort zones.

It wouldn’t hurt to look into pantsuits. Times have changed, and the whole elaborate expensive costume scheme needs to evolve.
