@@thomasjoseph5876 Did you actually listen to the whole thing? His needing to have sex _immediately_ when he gets the urge, to the point that he doesn't care that he's physically hurting his wife because he couldn't be bothered to get her aroused/lubricated enough? (Or do you just not understand how sex works for women?) OP even made it clear that she needs an emotional _affectionate_ relationship to be aroused (incredibly common in women), which her husband said was _'not worth the effort',_ & told her to _'go find affection somewhere else'._ Then he has the GALL to be shocked when she did just that, & found an attractive partner that was interested in more than her vagina. Then he _tells his wife that she shouldn't be able to get attractive partners._ So he always intended for the relationship to be uneven, without a thought to OP's happiness.. You mention her not comprising, in what way do you think she should've done that? You think she should still want to have sex with this guy? The guy who doesn't care if she gets anything out of sex, physically hurts her without a second thought, & pushes her to do rough things she doesn't enjoy? (like being kinky & pulling her hair/grabbing her throat. If you aren't into that, you aren't into it.) The man is a selfish dickwad, but do continue to alter the story to suit what you'd prefer.

Honestly, there's plenty more successful open relationship/poly relationship stories on Reddit, but for some reason people only want to hear the bad ones. This is just my opinion, but many people still want to believe that monogamy is the only valid relationship lifestyle and are super biased against anyone in a successful open/poly relationship because it proves them wrong about their prejudices. Which is funny to me because there are so many unsuccessful monogamous relationships throughout history all the way up to now, yet no one writes monogamy as a whole off. However, if there's even one bad open/poly relationship everyone gathers together to demean the lifestyles and anyone who particpates in them.

I doubt she was incredibly nice before all of this. Becoming a bride just brought her bad side to the surface. throwing tantrums is a common bridezilla thing, I get that. But going behind one bridesmaids back because she wouldn't drink to say she was was pregnant to her religious parents on purpose...and then cheating on her fiance with a family member no less...yeah, she's rotten. Story 2 OP's husband is salty because he was likely telling himself that OP was the lucky one to be married to him. That she was being overly needy and no man would tolerate her or satisfy her sexually or emotionally. But the fact that OP found exactly what she wanted and very easily shows that he was the problem all along and OP was the prize. So now instead of doing some soul searching he's desperate to find the perfect woman to prove that he wasn't asking for too much.

This is what I said, she may very well not even have a true 'LL', it may be that she just isn't attracted to her husband because he mistreats her (especially in their sex life) & regularly beats down her self esteem. Who would want to sleep with someone who doesn't care that they hurt you, leaves you not getting anything out of it, & outright refuses to meet your needs?

@@meirin5316 I think it's incredibly mature & empathetic to realize abusive relationships can really make it hard for the victim to leave. I too would think 'I'd totally get the F out of there' but... it's a realistic & unfortunate truth that it can be _hard_ to do that, especially if you've been together awhile, & truly love them (or love the 'idea' of them). Being alone (esp if you don't have a good support system) can feel scarier than tolerating it.

The problem in the second story (and really all the stories shared involving polyamory) is that one partner does not respect their partner(s).even if communication is on point, if there is no respect for each other's safety, well-being, and bonding, of course the relationship is going to fail. As many people pointed it out, husband expected only he would have the fun, and not worry about his partner(s) experiences. That isn't fun at all.

story 2: I think this woman is in danger, his kinks, his jealously and him starting to see her as an obstacle... (woman of 'quality' walking away when they hear he is married) he is already disregarding her boundaries (painful sx) so I fear he might snap and truly strangle her. he already tried to choke her while he knew she isn't into that so he either doesn't think straight when having sx or he just doesn't care. in my opinion this combination is dangerous.

Story 2: I'm pretty sure open relationships work out a lot more when they start open. Very low odds of two people starting a monogamous relationship only to both later decide "actually I prefer polyamory." Although most of these stories are from "things go wrong" subreddits, so probably not going to get a lot of stories of things going right anyway.
@jennynoelle6782
@jennynoelle6782 8 ай бұрын
Story 2: 1. Sex isn't a need in the way food or shelter are. It's a need in in the way that alcohol and nicotine are. Going without sex, or doing less of it, will not kill you ("died by blue balls" isn't a thing). He thinks he needs it because he likes it, is almost certainly addicted to it, and has probably been told that it is normal for men. In this situation, it would have been far better, for all involved, if they had gone to counseling. He took the "easy way out" because he believed it would cater to his own desires. 2. Open relationships rarely, if ever, work out well. In most cases, such as here, one party is basically looking to benefit more than the other, and it isn't a mutual desire. Typically, the one who wants to open the relationship is an older man, like OP's husband, who believes that they can have "the best of both worlds" by virtue of being male (the whole "boys will be boys" thing). 3. There's a misconception that college-age girls want silver foxes. We don't find guys old enough to be our fathers/grandfathers hot. The reason it appears in old movies is because those were usually made with a distinct male fantasy in mind ("of course the middle-aged film star gets the dewy-eyed, ingenue as a reward for saving the town"). We generally want guys our own age, who we have a lot in common with, and we want the same fairytale affection that OP does. If a young girl actually goes for the silver fox, she's the exception. She probably either has a fetish ("older men are more gentlemanly") or he's offering something that she can actually benefit from (usually money). Thus, OP's husband's plan was always going to backfire on him. He isn't going to attract most younger women, and the ones he does are exclusively wannabe sugar babies (hence "immature and money-hungry").

On story 2, regarding your question on whether opening a relationship ever ends well, I do think it's fair to point out that the reason we always hear the same old story where the relationship opens and the one partner is bitter and unhappy, is more because people who open their relationship and both partners are happy and satisfied with the arrangement, don't usually have as much of a reason to make posts talking about their happy open relationship. At least not outside of poly or ENM communities. But you won't see as many AITA or Relationship Advice posts regarding a healthy open relationship for the same reason you don't see very many about a healthy mono relationship.
