My friend had a wedding in December in New England. And she normally gets very cold in all types of weather. She wanted a fur cape. So I made her a white with red trimmed for a cape. She had photos outside and she was toasty. To this day she uses it like a blanket. She loves it. I'm so glad I was able to do that for her.

Someone I used to work with lied about his DAUGHTER dying. First she was sick then she "died". He had missed 2 weeks of work and was asked for funeral info to send flowers and such. He failed to provide anything. Then, when he came back to work, they asked for info to process bereavement pay. He said the employer was harrasing him, and they "would pay." This is a normal, legal thing to ask for. Unsurprisingly, the next day, he stopped showing up for work 🙄 . She is 100% alive. I saw her with my own eyes.

I had to carry around and send copies of my marriage license for over a year. Drivers license Social security card Insurance Bank Paychecks My state licensure (govt job) Literally everything...youre taking on a new alias. Plus, after we divorced, its been 6 years and I still run into red tape and they ask for my husband's info and permission. It's wild. I can only imagine it's 10x worse with social media as an echo chamber for having to have ridiculous expectations of your bridal party. People need to wake up.

Slight tangent, but I don't understand Bachelor(ette) parties the day before the wedding. I have a friend who was asked to be in her fiancé’s sister’s wedding back in the late ‘90s. The bride wanted her bridesmaids to pay for two dresses. One for $2000 for the ceremony and pictures and the second at $600 for the reception. Ultimately, she told the bride she had to drop out of the wedding at that point. My friend did end up marrying her fiancé, but if it wasn’t for the fact that they had a wonderful child together I wish she would have just walked away from the whole family at that point as they were so toxic and hateful.

New rule for wedding vendors: Contract includes a clause that a death certificate needs to be produced for a refund. And it has to be of one or both fiancés (include parents or siblings, maybe?)
@elithasim
@elithasim 3 ай бұрын
Majority of them only do a partial refund until a specific point leading up to the wedding. Venues get booked quickly. Anything after the point if no refund, is lost money for the wedding party because the venue would have made that money with another couple. Same with catering and everything. As long as it’s a legitimate business they can and will keep that money and can and will sue if they need to.

I had a winter wedding in December with a single digit temperature outside. I love snow and the snowfall from the day before was still there. I do not recall how it happened but my whole wedding party actually agreed to do an outside photo in the snow with the sunset. The photographer set up two positions while we were inside and then we went out. I had a very nice shoulder cover, my husband and groomsmen had suits, but my maid of honor, bridesmaids, and the groomswoman were wearing uncovered shoulder dresses. It was a beautiful photo and I am glad the girls were willing to freeze for it.

When I got married I kept it simple. Bridesmaid dresses were under $100, I let my bridesmaids chose whatever shoes they were comfortable in as long as they were black (no need to purchase something you already have broken in and in your wardrobe), I bought them all their jewelry to wear for the special day, they could do their makeup & hair however they wanted and could either do it themselves or have my sister in law do it in her salon for free (as a wedding gift to me). As for a bachelorette party I wanted to keep it simple, we went to a nail salon for predicures as we sat in massage chairs and then a nice dinner with a few glasses of wine, just a little laid back rest & relaxation. All my bridesmaids paid for was their dresses, they all split the costs 6 ways for food, invitations and decorations for a surprise bridal shower and split the cost of my pedicure & dinner for my bachelorette party. I did not expect any gifts or money from them, I was just happy for all they did and participating in my special day.

My husband and I will be celebrating our 20th in a couple years (I feel so old saying it, but it goes by so fast!) and we just had a courthouse wedding with a handful of our closest friends and family. I’m not saying that’s what everyone should do, but it suited us (I don’t like being the center of attention and we didn’t want the stress of a big white wedding). I wore a purple dress, my wedding ring is a silver and garnet ring, we went out for seafood afterwards as a family. It suited _us_ . We did what _we_ wanted and didn’t let our very pushy mothers convince us otherwise. I wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was perfect. And I don’t know what we’re going to do for our 20th anniversary, but it’ll be perfectly us too.

And people still talk about the wedding to this day. And I'm 26 years old. I've never really understood why acting like how little you spent on your money is some sort of humble brag it just never made any sense to me. You can spend or not spend however much money you want on your wedding. That's your right. As long as you don't act entitled and insufferable.

Honestly, for that first story, as awful as that is I'm glad the bride showed her true colors in such a dramatic fashion and _before_ they were actually married. No need for the groom to deal with processing an annulment, and all the family and friends were there to see and hear what happened so there's no "he said, she said" or taking sides. That poor man dodged an orbital missile strike.

As an adult with an inborn immune deficiency, I can safely say: the idea of bringing a chicken pox-sick three year old to a wedding is just diabolical. I've had chicken pox 6 times in my life, each one being worse than the one before, and the last time I had it was in my final year of university when the head of our group was pregnant. Knowing the terrible effect it would have on an unborn child, I made arrangements with the dean's office and studied from home for a few weeks just to avoid endangering the head of our group and her baby. Who in their right mind would even ask to carry a source of dangerous contagious disease into a crowded place? If this bride was sued back, she wouldn't even realize what she had done wrong!

Having chicken pox as an adult is no joke. My husband had a very mild case as a child but still caught them at age 30. He was extremely ill. Along with the tell-tale rash, he had a fever, headache, stomachache and he was lethargic. He couldn't eat due to the stomachache. My husband doesn't give in easily but chicken pox wiped him out. Was at a wedding reception in 1986. Guests and all were gathering around the bride and groom for the cutting of their beautiful wedding cake at a lovely California beachfront venue . Bride"s maids and Groom"s men surrounding bride and groom. The scenic moment was picture perfect wedding material. Great photo opportunities and memories to last to be had. Low and behold the bride's brother (also part of the bridal party) and a known serious problematic alcoholic. PROJECTILE VOMITED!!! Perfect timing and very accurate. The maid of honor got the most direct hit. Full on vomit splashed everywhere. The cake table, the cake, bride and groom, wedding party, a few guests etc... It was an immediate shock and awe chaos of course. The poor beautiful cake never had a chance. It smelled really bad. Barf was demon splattered. The barf brother though... Soon as he did his easy 6 foot plus vomit launch, he immediately turned away and acted like nothing happened. Complete incomprehensible denial. The groom party ended up walking him out. I don't know what happened after that. I left. Fast.

When I unveiled the portrait they both broke down crying. The husband had died a week before AND NOBODY TOLD ME! They had paid a deposit and owed a hefty amount for the piece. I hung it for her and told her not to worry about the balance and left. I was so angry to be put in that situation the owner of the company didn't say a word about me giving the piece away.

In our country the custom for weddings is all expenses for the wedding (including the bridesmaid dresses and accomodations if any) are all paid for by the couple getting married. The only time it would be acceptable to have your bridesmaids pay for anything is IF you don't necessarily need them to be uniform and would just need them to wear a specific color. Basically, it's "you pay for what you want" situation, if you want the perfect wedding with everything being according to your liking, pay for it.

Oh god I am so glad that my colleague's wedding I was invited in went so smooth. These are stories from hell. 😅 I helped with some preparations such as decorations - tons of handmade origami birds (nightmare, but it looked very good on the wedding), I did bride's makeup for free and also helped the bride to put the dress on and off and change outfits during the party, also helped her hold the dress when she needed to use the toilet etc. etc. Yes we became even closer friends during that event. 😂 And when I told her I cannot afford to give any money as a gift to her and her husband she was so nice she told me I already did so much for her that there is no need for giving them money. Wedding was big and so beautiful, very good food, nice people. I would go again. She only needed some care and calming sessions the day before the event and before the ceremony because she was nervous. So no bridezzilla story at all. What melted my heart was few days after she messaged me thanking me that I was there for her and she could not do it without me. I love her. I hope there will be more wedding stories like this for all of you just with love and appreciation. ❤️

I told him the one place that was a must for photos but he could choose all other locations (there’s 3 hours remaining on our timeline) and that he could use ALL of our photos for his portfolio. It’s going to be so much fun, zero stress and I get to wear my gown again! I’ll never understand bridezillas. I had three bridesmaids and a maid of honor (we were all in college and I paid for everything out of my own pocket, my husband was in boot camp the start of wedding planning) and budgeted $30 for each bridesmaids dress, they all had nude shoes in their closet already, and I did their hair and makeup! I totally took into account that not everyone has $$$ to spend on a wedding, I barely had enough to do a small one for about $3,000 (MIL ruined that, but that’s a story for another day) and all my bridesmaids had different hair colors, tattoos (I specifically chose dresses they each were the most comfortable in as long as they were the same color I didn’t care if they were all uniform). We had so much fun without all the FANCY extra things. You can have a great time at a wedding without having a huge budget. Was it my dream wedding? No, but I did marry my best friend and we’ve been together 7 years so I’ll never regret saying I do. ❤ Maybe in the future for renewal we can just have close friends and family dinner to celebrate but priorities will never be wedding stuff. 🤷🏼‍♀️ That’s okay too ladies! As long as you and your partner and bridal party are having fun then it’s a success in my book. ❤ As always you are gorgeous Charlotte! Thank you for the amazing content. ❤

I just, I just don't understand why weddings have to go so freaking extravagantly expensive, when you can make memories on a budget. Also apparently all the weddings I went to the men were the epitome of the perfect husband, because every person has ever met them again after their wedding it's like he's still in love with this woman, and she is still in love with him it's it's like their Union was a perfect match. I have never been to a wedding that had this much drama in my life.

Charlotte: You ask what "indig" meant in the one story. It's short for "Indigenous Person". So the bridezilla only complained about the two photographers who were *not white*...

i sort of thought Charlotte would know that, she's Canadian right?? Then again, idk how first nations folks are referred to in the media up north. The last article I read was about one of the more recent incidents with those residential schools & the human remains that had been desecrated there.......😒

@bbo7002 Maybe it just didn't click when they said indig, and she would have known it if they hadn't used a slang term, but had spelled it out fully? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Same. I would have dropped out right then and there. I have had to as the bride had told me to not look “so bi” like uhhhh what? I was wearing a soft yellow sundress at the time that SHE bought me.

I would stay there to film the entire outburst😂 My cousin is getting married on September 19th, and thank God we have none of this in my culture. The wedding shower is at my cousin's aunt house. The bachelor and Bachelorette parties were also in back yards of two family members' homes. We agree on $100 to $500 per person wedding gifts. 120 people, and it is all about fun. The only rule is to wear black, white, and yellow to resemble bees for the wedding shower😂 A bee is the color theme for some reason. I asked my aunt if I could wear a black and gold skirt instead of yellow she said it's absolutely fine. No fuss over the venue. The wedding is all about family and fun.
