I work for Bridgeport machines in 1996 and myself and other engineers always talked about putting the knee raise and lower drive inside the knee casting.. I'm so glad to see that a clever engineer like you actually did it. I also love the ending lol

I have been watching many of your videos and those of many other KZbinrs, and I hereby pronounce you to be as good at doing this as anybody on KZbin, and better than most. The combination of video production quality, the impressive breadth and depth of the projects you undertake, the usefulness (to me) of what I learn from your projects, and the level of inspiration I receive to go out into my own shop and work is unsurpassed by anybody on KZbin or anywhere else. Patrion, here I come!. :-)

It's going to be a bugger to fix if it breaks.
@grntitan13 жыл бұрын
@@jemijona Not sure why you would think that. He built the thing, I am sure he could repair it. Machinists address problems as they arise.
@jemijona3 жыл бұрын
@@grntitan1 An external power feed only needs simple disassembly so is easy to access and fix when it breaks. If Ca's drive breaks, there is a motor, chain and sprockets, you can see from this video how much work is involved to get to them to fix them. That is all I am saying. Of course it is his choice but personally I wouldn't go to this extent to drive the Z axis.

Hello from Russia. The modernization is interesting and made with high quality, if I saw it, I thought that it should be so from the factory. In Russia, most of the old machines (from the USSR) come from the factory with automatic feeds on all axes.

Cä Lem, I just discovered your channel and I'm impressed with your work, and even more so, your attitude. I want it; I make it. If I don't know?; I'll find out and get it done too. You're an example and and a confirmation how to get through live in a good way. No: "I can't do that, because.." but; "I'm not sure how I can do that but's find out". You're the salt of this earth and an example for all the young folks complaining about the, e.g., "lost wifi connection for their games or social BS" as an example how things are becoming ugly and weird these days. Hats off! I hope I can enjoy your progress for a long time to come and will contribute to your patreon channel. " as an addition to your comfort for doing the things you're doing so good already. Thank You!

Gday CaLem, fantastic modification mate, you have done a awesome job, tight fit in there but you made it work, I’d be lost without the power feed on my Cincinnati, winding the knee up and down by hand gets very old very quickly, the scraping on the ways look beautiful and slides effortlessly, great job mate, throughly enjoyed watching, cheers Matty

So many others would have hung a big brackety thing on the outside right where you would walk into it every time they were in that side of the workshop then followed up with a video about extending their workshop. Not Ca Lem... that's attention to detail. Nice glide on the ways! And skip the hole saw... use the lathe. 😁

When I'm not using the knee crank I reverse it on the protruding shaft so it's handle points inwards. Walking into it just once was enough to teach me that habit. So with it in that position it can't turn with this power feed being used as the shaft would just rotate within the bore in the crank end.
