Have you looked into briefing Jeppesen Approach Charts? If you want an airline job, you'll need to make the transition to Jeppesen plates. The airlines prefer Jeppesen because their charts streamline information for briefing purposes in a busy cockpit environment. In an airline interview, you'll be asked to brief a Jeppesen chart.
Jeppesen's trademarked briefing strip is designed to give busy pilots one source of easy to read through information for an entire approach brief. There are also a number of other changes from the FAA approach plates we're all used to. Let's have a look at what to expect from Jeppesen charts.

Spilled my coffee at 2:52 when you went "turns out there are other countries other than us and they have instrument approaches too." Keep em coming especially for us aliens.

Like that little bit of humor in a very informative video (Jeppesen's research into other countries, haha). Don't stop making these please.

This is an EXCELLENT comparison between the charts. I'm super grateful for this. I like how you highlight the same item on each chart (never seen that done before) so we can see where they are on the FAA versus Jepp!

Thanks so much, Jepp plates are like hieroglyphics at first but aren't too much different.

Can you do similar compare on STAR/SID Jeppesen vs FAA? These are hugely helpful. Thanks.

Your visual aids and graphic depictions stand head and shoulders above the pack. Simply outstanding. You nailed the pace and got through everything without me having to press the “jump back” (or worse, “jump forward”!) control even once. Thank you!

KEYQ! We’re I got my private in the early 2000’s. Carls Bar B Q was the best! Airport is gone now, believe they built houses there. None the less, holds a special place in my heart.

Great video! I would like to see more videos like this about other jep charts such as the Jeppesen Enroute Charts, ODP's, Arrivals, and Airport Info. There really aren't any on KZbin.

Having used both, I honestly didn't really have a preference. I guess I had initially trained on the FAA plates, so hopping around to brief felt comfortable, and I did the same on a Jepp plate - that was my flow. Thanks for the video really laying out how the T->B, L->R Briefing Strip works, I'm going to get some reps doing that to stop my jumping around. FYI, Humble is pronounced "Umble" (no H).

I just love your videos. I found your channel looking for specifics on the G1000 but now I've watched just about every one! Small point - I'm sure you're aware of - the FAA charts also depict the highest obstacle (and sometimes the highest point of land) too. The FAA chart has a bold and slightly larger font for the symbol and altitude for obstructions and when needed, a bold dot and number for terrain.

Great video and Great teaching a quick overview / breakdown of the two plate formats. Jepps for the win. I couldn’t think of going back to the FAA instrument charts. Subscribed to get your channel more views. 🤙🏻

Brazilian oficial charts from DECEA (Airspace Control Department from Air Force) is somewhere between FAA and Jappsen. It has more information and better organized than FAA but less than Jeppsen. Excellent video, by the way.

It’s like Windows versus Mac, but at the end I do agree that Jeppesen has a more professional layout.

Haha yeah. Most of us prefer Jeppesen but at the end of the day what you use is probably dependent on what your boss will pay for!
@raccoonair
@raccoonair 2 жыл бұрын
@@flightinsight9111 Yep, it starts with FAA (for free), and when going pro, your boss knows that Jeppesen will pay off at the end.

Would you honestly consider producing such great materials for EASA ATPL students?, you dont have to do the regs vfr but I think the rest of the subjects overlap, I am studying for both FAA and EASA exams and I plan to only use Jep during my IFR training

The FAA plate CLEARLY shows an exact expiration date. How do I find the equivalent EXACT EXPIRATION DATE on the Jepp plate please?

The FAA TERPS Cell does this all day, every day. They design the approaches, airways and everything to do with both VFR and IFR aviation. Wonder why you are shooting an approach at 3.2 degrees instead of 3.0? That was done for your safety to meet various minimums. Wonder why they stopped building the 5 story hotel on the old golf course> Because HoJo didn't ask TERPS first so they wasted a few million. The antenna on top counts as height of obstruction. Flying around and shooting various approaches to make sure the airfield equipment is working properly, that the trees around your hospitals helipad aren't impeding the safety of flight. This is done day in and day out to insure the safety of flight for everyone in the air over the U.S. If someone finds for profit plates and mapping prettier or easier to read, I truly hope you enjoy them. As for the author, you need to realize that Jeppesen is taking the expertise of the FAA TERPS and putting it into a slick package to make money. I like a lot of things about Jeppesen. As far as the FAA, change is difficult in a bureaucracy and if they did it would compete with a company that would have a hard time fighting back. If it came out of Oklahoma City it would still be free. Who doesn't like free?
