I’ve watched a lot of other videos on this air vane & thermostat, yours is the best. Showing the correct position of the thermostat was very well done. The grease to allow free movement was a great tip. Very good video. Thank you, very much appreciated!

Well explained. very little extraneous chit chat, parts' numbers, Joe Friday delivery. Mr. Snake was a great touch of drama. 5 star video, subscribed.

Thank you for the detailed info on this subject. My mower runs fine when first started but if I let it die, it wont start again. I think it's related to this auto choke assembly which is identical to yours.

@@tommy-time5240 well, turned out the problem was indeed the carb. Just disassembled, cleaned and all is good now. Thank you!

EXCELLENT! Just the info on the details of the choke I was looking for. My engine looks identical to what you are working on here, and my mower docs have it a Briggs and Stratton "Quatum Series", model number 120000, might help somebody...

Not many people show the detail of how to align that bi -metal peace on the exhaust with the air vain details are the key

Changed thermostat and lined up between notches and also changed carb out. Mower starts but chokes out and will only run if I disconnect choke spring. The air vane will not move to open choke with spring on but will not choke with spring off. Runs great if I manually open choke. Can't figure out what's wrong. Any ideas?

i have found that its important to use an original Briggs-Stratton spring on the air vane. i used an aftermarket spring before and it drove me crazy trying to figure out what the issue was. Spring tension is imperative at that application.

@@tommy-time5240 It did not work to solve my problem, however it was out of place and I made the adjustment. Turns out it was a Compression/piston gear with a crack and was not operating correctly. The part runs about 70.00 but availability at the time was difficult. I sol the mower with the problem identified to a small engine shop and purchased a new lawnmower. I have a rider and was just using this one for a edger.. Thanks for your help.

So is that the only way you can tell that the thermostat is shot by not bouncing or retracting back?
@tommy-time5240 Жыл бұрын
it should have spring action. i guess you could try heating it with a torch and monitor movement.

@@tommy-time5240 thanks I ended up ordering a new one today but need to check both settings I did the one on the center but not on the side angle. Mine didn’t really have a bounce so I’m pretty sure that’s it because I have done just about everything. Have spark, fresh gas, new filter, fresh oil, new spark plug and carb cleaned but not dissembled. I’ll report back. Thanks again Btw …had no idea you could heat it learn something new every day.👍
