I love Art, he's got a presence which is gorgeous. A bit high pitched though in his voice. That doesn't matter. Anyway, the appeal of this song is all in the melody, the writing, the composition in general, not the performance. No matter how much we love Art.

TL:DR - black mirror plus art Garfunkel equals watership down memories that leave me in tears, hip hop hooray. I can’t hear this song without seeing scenes from watership down in my brain (a mandatory in-class movie viewing in grade 3, which we then had to write a report on). Most of the kids were 8-9, I had just turned 7 because I’d skipped first grade. When I tell you, almost every parent was called to pick up their kids early because all of us were in tears by the end of the day lol. Especially my 7 year old self, who was an animal lover and a very sensitive kid. Didn’t matter though, we were all still expected to write a report on it the next day. lol. Ah the 70s-80s. Inducing childhood trauma via cartoons. So glad this song came up own black mirror episode…didn’t even realize what song was playing in the background of the episode until my partner asked me why I was crying…I didn’t realize I had teared up. And he goes “ugh I hate this song, always reminds me of watership down”…and bam, that’s when it hit me and I realized my face was leaking because I heard that song in the background lol. And, in fact, I LOVE this haunting and beautiful song!! But damn it sure brings back sad bunny images. lol So. Thanks black mirror and art Garfunkel for reminding me of childhood cartoon trauma. It’s been a pleasure.

This song was etched into my memory as a child after Watership down was watched many times daily. So when Black Mirror added it to the Demon 79 episode I was literally stopped in my tracks of what I was doing. My mind associates this song with dying and suffering animals. I can’t listen to it without being reduced to a sniveling wreck. So I’m trying to keep listening to it so I can stop that. Still working on it. Beautiful song.

Is it a kind of a dream Floating out on the tide Following the river of death downstream Oh, is it a dream? There's a fog along the horizon A strange glow in the sky And nobody seems to know where it goes And what does it mean? Oh, is it a dream? Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale? Bright eyes Is it a kind of a shadow Reaching into the night Wandering over the hills unseen Or is it a dream? There's a high wind in the trees A cold sound in the air And nobody ever knows when you go And where do you start? Oh, into the dark Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale? Bright eyes Bright eyes, burning like fire Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? How can the light that burned so brightly Suddenly burn so pale? Bright eyes

the saddest song I ever heard... when my bunny Princess Hoppy (on Bunspace) died, this song always expresses my tears and sorrow...like none other. But I will see her again; she is with the Lord and on her grave on Good Friday grew white Geraniums that weren't planted there.....

Haunting song. I saw this as a child in the cinema in 1978 film Watership Down. As the film finished, grown men were crying.

I first heard this when I was in about 12 ,water ship down was being watched during class at Christmas, Now am 47 sat in lockdown, remembering what happened to my child hood. Don't give up on your dreams if you have a chance to seek them. Sooner or later the world will trap you with mortgages and loans and you become a slave to the system

Being a music nut, I have watched and listened to many many songs from all genres and different countries. I have to say this is one of my top 3 favourites. This is rarest of the rarest. A live performance sounding better than the studio version. Watching his gorgeous wife doing the backup vocals is just so heart warming. You can pickup her voice in the middle part and slightly towards the end. Art is so lucky to have such a beautiful gorgeous wife doing a gig with him every where. Art’s unique voice and The instrumental arrangements, integrations and harmonisations are to perfection!! You can hear Art singing techniques varied throughout this song. With intense breathing at the beginning…

What a truly amazing performance, maybe the greatest achievement of our lifetime. What he achieved was nothing short of genius, the money he raised breathtaking and all because he cared,we should all be ashamed of ourselves that we didn't did more to help. Thank you Bob you were and still are a legend we all owe you and always will.

When you truly love animals.. You can see God's beautiful spirit glowing in their eyes. And because you love them so much, when they die.. Part of you dies with them. The void they leave can never be filled again. 💔
