I lost my girlfriend to mental illness in October 1973 when this was first released. My girlfriend could sing this song beautifully. After her break, the song was still on the radio and it just about killed me to hear it. I recently learned she had been pregnant at the time of her break and our baby was lost. The lyrics "all my plans depend on you" and "endings come to fast, but they pass too slow" sounded like they had been written for us. Every now and then, I listen to it and remember her. Though the song is very sad, it is about all I have left of her, so I have come to love the song. Thanks Art for recording it.

This is likely the #1 love song on my list. I was a Freshman in college when this song hit the charts in 1973. My girlfriend had dumped me earlier that year and taken up with someone else, so when ever I hear this song, I flashback 48 years and to everything during that year. Have long since 'moved on' after the breakup but the song is pure emotion. Now in my 60s, I still can smile and remember the emotions I felt and I thank God for leading me elsewhere in my life.
