I so love this song. It is so beautiful, timeless and magical. I can't get it out of my head and use to listen to it when I feel sadness and bitterness. It helps

Saw him live in '97 - he was amazing. Most modern artists today struggle with their material just a few years later, Art did this one, All I Know, Bridge Over Troubled Water and others 25+ years after he had recorded them, and hit them all out of the park. One of the greatest voices of the 20th century, in my opinion.

Every time I lost a cat I think of this song, because it was for Watership Downs. The light fades in my cats eyes telling me it's time, and I cry. This song always makes me cry for their loss.

We must not forget that Art Garfunkel suffered a serious injury to one of his vocal cords, and from which it took him a long time to recover. Therefore, the effort he made here to sing this beautiful song was very great. Unfortunately, he smoked a lot during his youth, which affected his beautiful voice.
@whicked_stone75662 ай бұрын
that injury happend one and a half decade later. He quit smoking after that but he never regained the powerfull high range ascpect of his voice. He was somewhere about 70 years old at that time, here he was 55 isch and top of his game.

I remember this song back in 1978 when I was in junior high, you know, the first real kiss with that beautifull girl, everything around you was so perfect, back then I was 16 now 61 and for some reason a have tears falling from my eyes...

As a child, I could not watch Watership Down (I still haven't seen it), and I could not even listen to the song, despite loving it. It immediately sent me into a depressive state. It is as if I intuitively understood what the song was about. This is a song of enormous beauty, touching on an enormous subject. A song that will be sung as long as there are people to sing it. (Compare this to much of the hit list crap of today. Many of those songs (if they merit that description) is written by conglomerates of people. This is written by one person.)
