Thanks for sharing. Tried the Emulsified body scrub formular you shared in your previous video, I loved it. The second time I made it ,I tweak the recipe a bit. Added beeswax(yellow) with emulsifying wax Nf and it turned out great

I just made the turmeric body butter today, I came back to let you know I love it. I used the oil I infused after watching your video on how to do that. I really love the consistency. I had to sub a few things out as I didnt have the extract, I used papaya extract and a light scent with Frankincense oil. Thankyou very much for your videos, sharing formulas, all the extra info... Honestly, I love that waxy, kinda oily after feel, that scrubs leave my skin after a bath... Leaves my skin feeling smooth and conditioned! Best of all I don't have to apply any body lotion after a bath, as I normally do on days I don't scrub.

Thank you Tara for this well explained formulas .... you are right, in India turmeric is being cultivated and used as in plain powder form mixed with milk or rosewater, sandalwood, rice powder or any herbs as a scrub before a bath and washed off ..... it brightens skin. Emulsified products are also always a good option, because you can double-dip and not have to worry about the body products turning rancid if you use the product in the shower.

Study up a little more on what your preservation system can do in an emulsified product, you absolutely cannot double dip and not worry about mold growing in it, your preservative is not formulated for any amount of additional water that will drip off you hands or the steam that lands in there from your shower. Even adding more preservative you won’t be able to account for how much water will enter from just steam alone.

FYI, glycerin, in the south. Bc of humidity, gives your face a feeling it's leaking. Lol. I've had to cut back on the glycerin . So yes it pulls moisture outta air.. to your skin

Hi, Tara! For the body butter formula, it says 0.5% turmeric extract, but in the video, while you're making it, the screen says 2%, so I'm wanting to clarify which is correct. Thank you!

The 2% is correct because when you add the percentages in the formula they don’t add to 100% however if the extract is 2% then it makes a full 100%

Yup you could use any oil instead, it just obviously wouldn’t be a turmeric themed products anymore. & yup, rice powder should work. I’ve never used it myself. But I’d imagine so.

I know Tara knows this but for anyone else that is trying to formulate another leave on companion product and is worried about lemon essential oil being photo toxic. Lemon essential oil is photo toxic at about dilution rate of 2.5% per ounce of carrier oil or product. No one uses more than this for body care products. Of course you need to test it on your skin. But don’t assume a photo toxic oil is at all usage rates some will be lower and some will be higher. Do no use essential oils without proper research.

Hi Tara hope you are well. I make this scrub today but instead of sunflower wax, i used bees wax as thats what i had. My turmeric is infused in sunflower oil. I also forgot to cool down my oils and just added my sugar after the melt and hand blend mixed it. My scrub is extremely oily! Was that because of the bees wax? Also, whats the purpose of the cool down phase please?

The BTMS 50 already adds a really soft luxurious feel, but you can add it if you would like. It will increase the viscosity so I would lower the cetyl alcohol or btms 50 percentage a bit.

Hi Tara ! I heard that turmeric doesn’t really brighten skin Instead it colors it hence why one would h’think hyperpigmentation is fading. What is your opinion on that ? I also heard that licorice is way more effective to treat hyperpigmentation.

Licorice is a wonderfully brightening ingredient too, but I’ve never heard that about turmeric. So not sure. I knows it’s been used in India for many many years for it skincare and medicinal benefits.

Actually it’s been said to not LIGHTEN dark spots but it does brighten them, making them less dark. But like Tara said licorice root is definitely Greta for hyperpigmentation

can you use the turmeric body butter recipe and just change out the turmeric products for a base for adding your own oil and fragrance of choice instead turmeric based? so instead of turmeric oil using apricot or sunflower and skip the turmeric extract. then just add your own fragrance and adjust the oil percent for whatever percent you add for fragrance? does this make sense lol
