Once there was a 'woman with a baby' walking down my street. I saw that there was no baby and that the women wasn't a women. So I took a picture of her fromy window. I saw her come back around twice a day, and a couple weeks later 'she' had broken in at my neighbor's. The police came and I showed them the picture, and they arrested the man that dressed up like a women, and a group of helpers. I was pretty proud of myself

2 years ago I just got done putting my son to bed. BOOM someone was trying to literally boot in my front door. Thank goodness my front door is a solid heavy wood door that was locked. My English mastiff was standing in front of the door barking and growling. Boom another kick. I yelled the police were on the way ( I was on the phone with the 911 operator) none of this discouraged the person. Another Boom. I grabbed a weapon, put the phone on speaker and began to shut off the lights, why turned off the lights I know the inside of my house even with the lights off but this person doesn't. Luckily no one was able to get in. 15 minutes later the police were finally at my house and they caught him. When he seen the police lights he ran into my back yard, my house is surrounded by woods they followed his snow prints and he was caught. It was a man with a mild mental illness and was under the influence of alcohol. He thought my house was his parents house, he thought they locked him out again was his explanation for trying to kick in the door. Thank goodness all windows and doors were locked. I'm so grateful he didn't try breaking out any of the Windows to get in. The storm door had to be replaced but the moral is, if someone one really wants to break in your home they will .

ok....STORY TIME! One time my father was alone at home. He was just watching 📺 and all of a sudden he heard someone knocked on the door. "Hello. This is the police." My father was curious of why the police is at the door. And he did the right thing to do, instead of opening the door he look through the hole on the door(if you know what I mean)and he saw someone not in a police uniform like a random person showed up at the door. He kept quiet and not lowering the volume of the 📺 cuz later the person outside of the door would know someone's in the house. He told me, my sister and my mother about it when we got home for school and work. And it happen 2 TIMES! (Okay enough of talking. TOO LONG ;-; it took me a while to do this ;-;)

Chances are if a burglar was casing your area, they'd ignore any symbols not put their by themselves or their assistants. Seems to me the best way to reduce the odds of burglary is to be distrustful of people seeking entry to your home if its not a service you specifically solicited and are expecting, make unauthorized entry a pain in the tail, and keep things that they'd see as worth stealing out of easy line of sight from doors and windows. If they don't know whether its worth their while or not and getting in isn't fast, chances are they'll bypass your place just because the risk isn't worth the reward.

My grandmother had one situation like this. I wasn't even born yet then, whatevaaa, let's just get into the story. So, my grandma was home all alone, and heard someone knock on her door. It was a lady with a bag. In the bag there were perfumes. She asked my granny, if she'd like to buy some. Grandma said no, but the woman said "Aw, come on. Atleast see how they smell.". It was OBVIOUS that there was something suspicious. Probably if my grandmother would agree to see how they smell, she would wake up to an empty house. How did she get rid of the lady? She simply called out her son's (my dad's) name. He obviously wasn't there, but the woman got scared and walked away.

Once my mum was out at the shops and my sister and I were at home and she had told us not to answer the door to anyone while she was gone. Then someone started knocking and I got freaked out lol😂 I thought that if I didn’t answer whoever it was would think that we weren’t home and tried to break in. So I went out of my room and the knocking continued, my sister was in her room with headphones on and didn’t hear anything. So I grabbed a butter knife to,d my sister to come with me (she was freggin confused lol) and we snuck around the side of the house to see who it was... it was my frickin mum who had accidentally locked herself out...😂😂😂 for some people wondering, i live in Australia and in a town where no robberys or crimes ever happen so i was completely unprepared for anything like this happening. (i was also like 9 or 8 at the time so maybe not the best at dealing with things like that😂)

A simple attractive way to bar windows is to plant Thorne plants around them. I used older roses climbing near the handicap ramp and large growing bushes under all windows. I use 2 deadbolts on all doors. I have alarms and good solar security lights and sidewalk lights. It looks nice and prevents easy access to the house

Break ins happen mostly during the day when people are out. So lock your bedroom when you are sick and sleeping during the day. That gives you time to call 112 or another emergency number when you hear people breaking in.

One time, I was playing at school when I saw a man walking down the street. I ignored it, because I thought it was normal. A minute later, he was climbing the fence. He pointed at my friend, and told him to get a teacher. He pointed at me, and told me to stay still, or else he'd choke me out. Once the teacher arrived I ran, and we had a lockdown. The next day, this man was in jail. I saw the news. But apparently he was working with other people, because that day MORE people came to my school, taking pictures. Number 8... Basement window wells brought back a funny memory. 1980s, Anchorage, Alaska. A friend, who lived in a basement apartment was woken to the sound of screaming and "Oh momma, its got me, Oh momma momma". Pulled his 44 and went into the other room. A little thief was rolling around the floor with his 12 foot burmese python. The kid pried open the window, climbed into a dark room, and stepped on the snake which promptly bit into his leg and wrapped him up. (It was the snakes room) He told the kid to freeze or she will eat you, turned off the light and called the cops. It was over an hour before the cops showed. Bet that little kid looks before he breaks into a dark room again.

The emergency situation is very common where I live and one night a car pulled up in front of our house and they threw a guy out of the car, who they have "beaten" up and stole from. Luckily we have a lot of dogs that don't take nonsense so when the guy saw he wasn't gonna get in he walked around the corner of the house and we heard the car drive off. There is also a hospital close to our house he could have walked there and seeked help

i have a better idea to stop these live in australia (no basements and flyscreen mesh in every window) have proper windows, that are hard to break actually think a second before just deciding "i'll let this random person into my house so they can check on it" because who really does that? keep your door locked, and valuables nearby you whenever sleeping, or away from home leave a light on when you go on a holiday live next to a busy road dont reveal where you live, who you are, or anything else like that on social media

(Or your power company needs to check your meter, this happened to me once, I live in the US) the technicians don't really take no for an answer, and if they do and then never come back (their fault) they'll blame the home resident.
