Opening a Locked Door with a Credit Card

In this #shorts video, I show you how to unlock a door using a credit card. This is a great life hack to know if you are locked out of your house and need to get inside and do not have a spare key.

You don't need this on most locking interior doors. That's why the hall side knob typically has a hole in it. Depending on the latch design you either need a strong enough pin or a small enough flathead screwdriver. You may also have the emergency key laying around somewhere. It looks like a funny piece of metal with one end bent. Many people hide them on top of the door frames. Also, the fact that the card technique worked says that either the latch has no dead latch mechanism or your door hardware is set improperly not engaging the dead latch.

10 mins later but I finally made, I realized some dumbass in our house locked the bathroom door and I wanted to take a shit so bad that I tried 3 different methods and this one worked well, the screws are a little loose because I bended over the door to make it easier to stick the card in, I'm writing this comment as I'm taking a dump 😂

@@pastelpancake7113 I would recommend to have a screwdriver, we changed the lock on our door to be easily opened with a flat head screw driver, if you can, do the same if not, tell your mom the problem.

First off, not sure if you realized, but you basically flashed all your info on your chase card. The indents can still be read from the backside. Also, there are places that sell "shims" that basically work in the same way, and are made out of plastic, or even metal. Therefore, no damage to your cards when it doesn't work right away and you struggle with it for a minute.

Well the lock in the video is a privacy lock and you can use a flat head screw driver or even a paper clip to turn the little button in the front .

This only works if you’re on the slanted side of the door handle though. As everyone knows there’s a slanted side, and a flat side. If ur on the flat side, you’ll just break ur card. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Wow! My granddaughter locked her mom’s bathroom door. I tried to get the locket taken apart so I could avoid drilling it out. I had finally given up and went over to drill out the lock to get the door open for her. I had reviewed some videos on drilling out a lock to help ensure I didn’t make things worse and watched this video. I thought why not give it a try, and didn’t expect a good result. Been trying this since the early 80s every time I lose my keys, which is quite a lot as I have ADHD. Just doesn't work here in Australia. Even interior locks have a long enough tongue that the bevel just isn't exposed. Apparently Britain is the same.

Omg this actually worked, thank you! My son locked the bathroom from inside and didn’t know how to open it try many ways Got so frustrated and took the knob out and you help out👏🏾🙌🏾
