Brilliant Idea Making a Bamboo Bow With a Wood Hanger | DIY Bow and Arrow

I made a bamboo bow with a wood hanger. The bow is an asiatic style bow and ends with 33 (almost 34) pounds at 28 inch of draw.

I used some skills of wood working, bowyery and some electrical tools, but this bow can be done with hand tools with no problems.

I prefer not use the bamboo in his natural color in this bow, so I use some bitumen to turn it in a dark color.

I make wood and primitive bows since my childhood. Course they was not so good. But I start making laminated bow because I can't afford one too. 😅 You shoud try make one board bow. That's not so dificult, and you will realize a lot with making It for yourself.

More or less. When I was kid I live in the fields, and remember to start make wood bows at age of 9 years old. Never stopped . So, almost 30 years making bows. This one was just for fun. 😄

I could have taken a cured stave chopped with an adz , shaved the wood and tillered to get equal flex and poundage pull, and also made the bow string cordage in 1/4 the time. I would also have used stronger wood. Bamboo has a great failure rate in bow making.

Hey! Halfway through you almost made me forget my fresh pot of tea! Don't mess with me when I'm making coffee in the morning or tea in the afternoon. Aside from that...This video is amazing! and a great choice of music. One of the best and will go along side The Art of Craftmanship's Making an American Flatbow: Hickory. Most bowers seem to only talk about how to make a good bow, and end up NOT really showing you how to make one. Secretive bunch these bowers be. A koan of sorts that I'm appropriating as mine. (mine mine mine): Be that which sends a message - a bow Be that which is the massage - an arrow Be that which receives the message - a destination By the way, no worries on my pot of tea, it turned out quite fine. Wow . A great deal of detail to keep it a safe item, however you’re very good at making one of these pieces and this was an excellent instructional guide for anyone. I’m pretty good but I’m not sure I would say that you make it look easy. There are many pitfalls to laminating . I think most people would understand that too and make sure they stuck to your specific steps if they were to venture into your field. But a warning folks. A fair amount of skill was involved in making this bow !!! Thanks for the video. Really high skills for all to see. Bravo. !!!
