@@CodyFazio I've got some other questions, maybe you know. I plan to transplant a 616 into a model A, I bought an engine and transmission without a car so some of the stuff isn't clear just looking at it. - If I don't run a heater can I block off the water pipe on the side of the head? Same for the little pipe coming off the side of the water pump? Looks like you ran yours over and connected them for the test run. - Previous owner capped the oil cooler lines off the filter housing so I assume I can just leave it like that? - You left the line off from the vacuum pump to the manifold, does that need to be there? Can I get rid of the fitting on the manifold and just run a line from the vacuum pump to my brake booster if I run power brakes? What if I don't need vacuum at all, suppose I should just leave the line to the manifold? - What is the lever on the driver's side of the injection pump for? It's not hooked to anything, shut off?
@CodyFazio3 жыл бұрын
@@MotherlodeMotors You can plug the heater core lines. I usually loop together rather than dead-end them. You can run no oil cooler but I recommend putting one on there. These engines dissipate alot of heat thru those coolers. If you're just doing some light driving around town or reside in cooler climate you'll prolly be fine with it capped. Hot weather and pulling hills or highway driving, definitely add one. Off the top of my head I believe that line going to the intake from the vac pump is so the vac pump is sucking clean filtered air. The linkage on side of pump is the shutoff linkage. It moves the fuel rack to the off position.

Could you explain how to bleed the pump and the diesel system?
@CodyFazio3 ай бұрын
@@bryancontreraspenaloza7952 cycle the hand primer on the lift pump which is located on the side of the injection pump. Remove the return line to the tank to verify flow, sometimes the old primers go to crap and won't move fuel. You'll feel an increase in resistance when cycling the primer once it catches prime. Then loosen each steel hardline at the connection atop each injector, half turn is all you need. Crank the engine until fuel bubbles out of each. Tighten connections back up, cylce glow plugs and attempt to start. If it's getting fuel you'll have white smoke coming from exhaust while cranking
@CodyFazio3 ай бұрын
@@bryancontreraspenaloza7952 If hand primer doesn't work, take a rag and blow gun attachment with compressor and pressurize the tank from fuel fill. Remove return line to tank and watch for fuel. Once you have fuel returning to tank, move on to the hardline bleeding step

@@skalice1950 The kerosene that can be aquired at fuel stations that is used in salamander heaters. Sometimes I'll use diesel, gas works good too. I heard spray on oven cleaner works well. Hi! I have the same your Om 615.912 powered a Steinbock forklift! They move transmission in flywheel side, and oleodynamic pump in nose pulley side. Have a problem: he makes gray smoke (not black) at all RPM! What is the problem in your opinion? Valve seals? Piston rings? Thank you!
@CodyFazio4 жыл бұрын
Blue smoke/haze usually indicates a ring/valve seal issue...gray could be an injection pump timing issue or an injector issue. Does it do it cold as well as hot? And did the problem come on over time or all at once?

No ridge, beautiful cross hatch. Seats and guides were fine, no pitting. I lapped them off camera. Cylinder head was off because of mice debris in one cylinder causing a lock up. Nice Video Cody! I have the same engine i think OM615.. It was running great once! Then It was still for 3 years with little fuel in the tank. I started it, it was running good, then i ran out of fuel. Restarted it with fuel, ran for 10 minutes good on idle, then it just died. I topped a bit more fuel and tried to start but it did not want to, then it started a little but then died again. And last start attempt (yesterday) it was kind of running for 3s but with little power on full gas then it died again. Do i have water in the system or air ? or both? Can something get damaged if i just continue try to start it? Any tips? BR Nau
@CodyFazio4 жыл бұрын
I would start by placing a jug of fuel next to the engine, disconnect feed and return lines coming from the tank and run some lines right into the jug of fuel. Brake clean the injection pump and the hand primer. Watch for leaks, especially at the base of hand primer. Let me know how you make out.

I wanna instal turbo on my w123 2.0D and is it possible? And is it ok for engine ?
@CodyFazio3 жыл бұрын
It's possible and been done. The problem is the injection pump can only provide so much fuel as it sits. May see slight benefits with low boost...5-8 pounds. The non turbo engines don't have oil squirters under the pistons to cool them like the factory turbo ones do. All in all, a small turbo running low boost with the stock injection pump won't yield that much more power for the money spent.
