Love the corset. Really love the striped dress. Also, every time I see a bustle dress I always wonder is anyone has ironically yelled "baby got back."

What pattern did you use for the half back lobster tail bustle cage? I only can seem to find a full long one (or I am looking under the wrong name?).

In December actually a month and a day ago, I did a Christmas Murder Mystery Dinner Party set in 1910. And for a PowerPoint presentation I imagined what the costumes for the characters would be if we were to do a film. Theres five female characters, one being 75 and a dowager and very rich; one being a Armenian detective of 40; a 40 year old closeted gay woman who is a fortjne teller in pain years after her lover died; a 25 young lady married to the dinner party host who is 60 something; and then a 26 year old who love love poems and is in live with the hosts ward who is secretly gay. I decided that perhaps the detective, dowager and fortune teller would wear gowns in previous decade as opposed to 1900s fashion. I thought the dowager would have leg of mutton sleeves and have a 1870s-1880s inspired evening dress instead. And I thought the detective would have a 1890s dress. But for the fortune teller I am not sure if she would also wear a evening gown of that of Victorian era, as old as a 75 year old. I was thinking she would have be wearing a older dress to show how she is dwelling on the past due to her sad past romance, but wiuld it be old for a 40 year odl to wear something of a 75 year old too? Was curious about what you thought about these choices?

It's really interesting! Was the dowager wearing an evening dress with a low neckline?
@annarose9323 жыл бұрын
@@Ninonella Sorry for not replying sooner. No, I had her in a more 1980s inspired look (with I suppose a style similar to 1820s with the leg of mutton sleeves). The fortune teller Helene was in a 1890s dress, very much similar to the Madame X painting. I thought for the Dowager, as a older woman who was quite humble, to have her in a dress of the later periods. So it was a high collar covering her neck, and leg of mutton sleeves. I did look at older periods before then but it didn't seem to work? I know this is probably inaccurate as every woman dressed in the fashion of the time. What are your thoughts as someone who is knowledgeable about Victorian- Edwardian fashion?
@Ninonella3 жыл бұрын
@@annarose932 I think it's perfectly fine to give an older lady a gown that's not so up to the fashion trends. I know that some older women balked at 1920s fashions, and went on making their own clothes on more or less Victorian lines.
