So true! I thought I would only use the big bustles for evening gowns - but I found I love my big bustle even with my day dresse! I will add that sometimes, when I know I'm going somewhere crowded, I will go for my smaller bustle then - just so I don't accidentally whack people. :)

I really love the fact that you tell where you got items like the lace, the corset, the shoes, etc. I love making the outer garb, but the inner pieces, not so much, particularly the shoes and corsetry!

I would love to see someone do something Art Deco from the period between the wars. Asia had a uniquely beautiful twist on the designs of this period. It just meshed so well with the Art Deco esthetic.

You mentioned tarlatan !! For anyone curious it's also used for wiping copper plates for traditional intaglio printmaking !! It's stiff, but it doesn't pull too much of the etching ink away from the plate so it works perfectly !! Then it's printed on a press !! Reeves BFK is the paper that I prefer. :)

It's a lovely gown! And it's really interesting to see how the bustle looks almost too big with just that on, but with all the layers on top it really works. It's actually really funny! Because I'm so INSULATED, my legs were fairly cool, and when I stay still, it wasn't much worse than sitting in shorts - because my skin was covered!

Makes sense. I remember one exceptionally hot summer when people at my high school figured the best way to stay cool during classes was actually sitting in a sleeping bag, preferably with a frozen water bottle at the feet, but even without ice, it was still preferable :D Got me thinking, with those big bustles one could probably hide a ton of ice there without anyone knowing and be the coolest (figuratively AND literally) lady in town

Hands down dream dress goals And I’d love it I every colour Think pink! Or cerulean Or black and emerald Or the original checkerboard red stripe fabric shown inthe plate! So amazing. I have a bolt of the weirdest fabric blend with cream base and velveteen stripes in kiwi, strawberry and I think one other colour... it reminded me of ice-cream shops.
