Absolutely love your channel. I can't get enough of the parrots. I used to have two African Greys, they were brothers. Stanley and Kapy. They were like my kids! I taught them to sing nursery rhymes and talk and they were everything to me. I spent all my spare time with them. Kapy liked sitting on my head and Stanley was always on my shoulder or arm. They preened my hair, and sometimes cut it on the top so I had all these short little hairs sticking up at one point. I got them as babies. I was trying to decide between the two and ended up taking Kapy. But the shop owner called and told me that Stanley was missing us, he was depressed, so I took him home too. I couldn't help myself. About two years later I started getting sick. To the point where the doctor started talking about having not very much time left. I never told him about my birds, my husband did and turns out I was very allergic to my babies. I was forced to find new homes for them. I'm still heart broken, I still cry over them. And I still long to have a parrot. It's just not fair. I'm wondering if you know of a parrot that doesn't have the dander that causes that deadly allergy that African Greys have? Is there such a thing as a hypoallergenic parrot? Thing is, I can be around any other type of animal and it doesn't bother me. Why, when I love birds so much, is it just this? Please tell me if you know if there's a chance of me ever having a parrot again. Otherwise I will have to settle for just watching your channel and have that longing for the rest of my life. Can you do a section on this? I'll be watching.

My budgie Ziggy only uses his swing as his "bed" at night. It's so cute how particular parrots can be! I've recently taken on 3 more budgies my cousin couldn't move with. I got them a flat laying triangle rope swing with three equal sides, one space for each. Sometimes the trio takes naps on it together. It's adorable, they face the center sleeping in a circle lol.

I watch Mikey Bastos videos now for a while too. You have no idea how I never considered birds as a pet because I’d look at them and know that they are thinking something ...usually I think it’s how t hurt me. 😀😆. I’ve been watching all of the videos slowly. Like I said before you are helping me heal thru a surgery I just got. Thank you Marlene. Your family is really cool both humans and birds. And I will now consider a bird for a pet. I joined Parrot Station too. You are wearing me down. 😄😀😆. Hope these 2 birds find what the need or get what they need from you guys. Hello George and Genna..
@punkyfeathers16395 жыл бұрын
I hope you are healed from your surgery. May I make a suggestion. Get a cockatiel. They are the smallest birds in the cockatoo family. They are smart, friendly, the males often learn to talk, and you can gauge what they are thinking by their crest. It’s almost like a little mohawk. It sticks straight up when they are very interested in something. When they hunch down and the crest is straight back they’re about to bite. They are beautiful, and come in many different color combinations. Plus, they are smaller so when they bite you it’s not as bad as a bite from a cockatoo or macaw.

Good move on the extra food bowl! We did that when we introduced our rescue cockatiel (Zippy) to the one we already had (Taki) and it has helped TONS. Zippy is very spunky and will still bully Taki off his food bowl just to see if what’s he’s eating is different (spoiler alert: it isn’t) but Taki knows there’s another food dish with exactly the same stuff in it so he doesn’t make a fuss and just switches bowls. Having two food bowls is a must for them! We also do simultaneous training sessions with them where they have to successfully work together to get their reward :) It’s great team building for them. They have a lot of fun and it teaches them that it’s rewarding to behave nicely with each other. I think it works because when we first go Zippy we had to add an identical sleeping perch at the same height on the mirror opposite side of the cage because they were fighting over Taki’s sleeping spot. Now they sleep right next to each other on the same perch even though there’s an equally good sleeping spot on the other side of the cage. Zippy (who is usually the one that gives Taki problems/causes problems) also now cries for Taki if he’s out of her sight and vice versa, so having separate food dishes and doing the co-training exercises is really helping!

It's so crazy, watching this video brings me back to when I got to bring Allie home, about a year ago. She wasn't as cooperative as these two but gosh she has the very same body language, I guess it's a poicephalus thing :p I am so excited about this new story and these two, looking forward for the rest of the series ❤️

Love them. Senegal's are pretty quiet. Give them almonds in the shell. You need to get a poster size of Picasso missing for the bird mart.

Such a good idea of being poster of Picasso for bird mart I really like that ️ ❤️

Hey Marlene, I don't know exactly what the update is with Picasso, but shortly after he went missing, my Jenday Conure, Kelly, ended up flying away. There are lots of trees in this area, and he was sighted a good week ago (we couldn't find him since we waited too long to go out) I'm stuck at home without a car most of the time, and everything is too widespread for me to just walk over and look around without losing all of my energy. I just wanna say, seeing your birds keeps me going with this search. Kelly is my little baby boy, and I can't give up on him. Gonna pray for Picasso as much as I'm praying for Kelly.
