This is true! My boyfriend was raised in a house by the railroad tracks and when he was a baby, he finally got used to the sound of trains outside and slept through it. Eventually his mom could vacuum right beside him and it didn’t wake him up 😂

My son was jaundice in the hospital & I was told to put him by the window so he could get some sunlight. He was born in the winter, so it was to cold to go outside and that’s what cured it.. She’s such a beautiful lil angel! 🙏 ❤️

She’s a darling! Sweet Sophia, please be kind and take it easy on yourself. You’re a first-time mama and your body is going to go through sooo many changes in a short amount of time. Postpartum depression is real and it’s scary but it’s nothing to be ashamed of, IF it happens. Baby blues are real too and it can be confusing to decipher between the two at times. Never hesitate to speak to your healthcare providers if you have ANY concerns. Even if they seem small or minute. And to the wonderful support system around you: please don’t feel bad if you see signs of postpartum depression and have the natural urge to “overlook” them… as the people who love and know Sophia intimately, you’re her team! Speak up, offer to help her and while you’re doting over this new beautiful life, don’t forget that mama’s need extra love and doting now too. God bless you all and that precious blessing ❤

What a beautiful name! Also infants produce red blood cells VERY quickly but because their liver is not that developed yet, they can’t process the bilirubin at the same rate so it builds up and causes jaundice - this is normal! In fact it’s called physiologic jaundice of newborn and is expected to show up around days 2/3 of life. Phototherapy is a treatment option that allows light in the blue-green spectrum (wavelengths 430-490nm…so NOT UV light) to be absorbed and change the bilirubin into what the baby CAN process! Also, her poops will likely start to stink once she eats something not milk (eg, purée foods) as the bacteria in her gut will be getting established now and will be put to work with new foods and the result will be smellier poops. But for now they should be okay! Part princess but also part diet related too! What a blessed baby! Y’all are fantastic parents already. 💜

With not being able to nurse strongly, and then going easily to a bottle, and high billi levels, I would definitely check for a tongue tie. All 6 of my kids have them. Some needed it released as babies some later in childhood. But it's super sneaky with nursing. Do not have a ped check for it. An IBCLC can usually check it. Or a pediatric dentist who does laser revision. Peds almost always say there isn't one present or that they don't cause problems. But they do.

This is Katie under my husband's account. Yall are beautiful family congrats on your sweet baby girl. I had a very similar situation with my 5th baby. He was born big baby but lost too much weight within first week. The pediatricians office did same thing gave me formula. Gave one bottle and my baby did not tolerate it. Also when I did nurse my baby he acted like he was working so hard to nurse but never getting enough. But I knew my milk was in. My baby was also jaundice too. I did my own research & went to a lactation consultant. I found out my baby was lip tied & had a posterior tongue tie. This is why he wasn't getting enough milk gain weight. Also why he was spitty & had lots of air gas pains. See when they are tongue tie they can't create a seal around the nipple & get a lot of air. The pediatrician & nurses in hospital as well as our own pediatrician missed our baby had posterior tongue tie. Your doing amazing with pumping & giving it to her but their is nothing like the bond of breast feeding. It's never too late & if you want to try get her back to breast I highly recommend a lactation consultant you will learn so much & they can help you & your sweet baby girl a lot. They can also help tips for pumping too. I waited till my 5th baby to see a lactation consultant. I wish I had with my first baby. But no one told me. So no judgment but just passing a long information that might really help yall. Welcome to parent hood.

Had you thought about hyphenating the two names as her first name, that's what we did with our son's name, he has no middle name. So legally his first name is two names with a hyphen in between, when you use the second name that is her middle name, the two name thing is just what you call your child not her legal first name. So at school, college etc. They will call her Mary because that's all that shows up on the paperwork, then of course she can tell them what she likes to be called. 😊

If you are still having nursing challenges, you should consider seeing a lactation consultant, because they are often more knowledgeable. You can also see multiple different consultants until you get the help you need. Baby chiropractors and physical therapist can help improve latch and spit up in babies by releasing tension!

Also if you are concerned about milk production you should drink mothers milk tea. I also drink moringa and nettle leaf. Also eating food like sweet potatoes and things high in protein and fiber will help! Also make sure to take your vitamins as well as fenugreek ( if your body can tolerate it, for some can cause decrease in supply) and milk thistle! I am a young mom who solely nurses and these things really help me and my little guy who is almost 7 months.
