A Klondike bar is a bar of ice cream with a chocolate coating. The old commercials for them would have the tagline "What would you do for a Klondike bar?" Family Guy humor has always been very reliant on references, and these old episodes rely on even older media that most of its viewers these days aren't going to be old enough to get, especially if they're not American.

First 3 seasons of the family are the best, after it got canceled the first time and came back it got edgier idk if it got better or funnier. But a kot of people didnt watch the OG episodes on tv

I am a little more biased since I grew up watching Family Guy more than American Dad, but you really have to be a big film fanatic to get most of the references and jokes.

I think, weirdly, Family Guy is just a lot more rooted in American reference humour so as someone who's not Anerican, a lot of these references are kinda misses for me and ao the humour doesn't land. I dunno, reference humour is all based on whether you get the reference so its got a barrier to entry anyway. American Dad doesnt have that barrier for the most part.

Well also the references are super outdated now. Even Americans aren't going to get ALL the references if they're under a certain age. And many older Americans who weren't super plugged in to pop culture will probably miss some things too. I don't think it's necessarily weird though, I mean the show was made for a particular audience in a particular time period.

This era is so preferable to the disasters to come it's not even funny. The contrast, that is; this is actually funny. Also: the Wonder Years reference with "Meg's" voiceover lines up weirdly well with one particular future path...
