The studio that developed it sure as hell learned a LOT from it, their new project Dirty Bomb was AWESOME in the gameplay department BUT they had a very bad project lead for waay too long and when finally a good lead came in, put the game back on track it was way too late and people already wrote off the game. Since then they ported Halo:reach for the masterchief collection and it did not recieve any bad press as far as I know so hopefully with that money they can finally make the game they always wanted and be succesful with it for once

The 2 gangs try to win by eliminating the other team's backup lives. The heroes, while they can respawn as much as they want, need to take down enough thugs of each side while also trying to prevent any other win conditions. It was really fun to play. Also, what's Brink?

Such an underrated gem this game was a part of my childhood and it’s a complete shame that it didn’t meet the criteria we were expecting and to see it die off so quickly has left me speechless. This game definitely deserves a sequel or a remake! ✊

I remember Brink was VERY hyped in my highschool. Everyone said that they were going to get it and play together, then it was delayed and everyone forgot about it. Skyim and another few games were announced/ anticipated for 2011 and thats all people cared about.

A great write-up, but missing one thing. The artstyle! Brink got me excited because it looked SO good. The character customization was mind blowing for a game in 2011.

4:15 YES. 👍🏻 PSA: If you’re gonna have midroll ads... make a specific cut for them in your video! It’s always annoying when a video is stopped mid-sentence because of an ad.

The advertising breaks go a long way. I get so irritated when mid sentence 5 more ads need to pop up in the middle of the video, not interrupting the flow of the video with a little card that has thought where its placed, you get a gold star from me...what ever that's worth

My personal experience. Before Brink came out, I knew exactly what I was getting into. I knew about Splash Damage and Enemy Territory, and knew it would be a multiplayer focused game. When it came out, the game was a lot of fun......when it worked. There was serious lag issues and game crashes. Story existed, but you had to play each map with each faction to get the full scope of the story, as each map had it's own timeline in the story. I personally think people didn't pick up on this, because in an age of Call of Duty and other shooters with multiple game modes and maps, Brink only had one game mode with 6 maps. Each map had objectives that pushed you forward, when most shooter fans just want to play TDM, point, click, and check their K/D ratios.

As of writing, I only have one tattoo. It's a Brink tattoo. It's visuals and creative direction inspired me to pursue game art, so I have it to thank for my current career as a UI artist. This game may have been deeply flawed, but I don't think I've ever had so much fun and fulfilment playing a game before.

Honestly the movement in that game and level design based on movement for different the characters made it refreshing and fun like if you were a lightweight character you could really go places unlike the medium or even heavy where you had to stay on the ground.

I pre-ordered brink and played (offline) for years, I recently decided to play on ps now and was reminded of how good the narrative of the story was. I feel that they should make a second brink and A) make the story and characters a little more in depth and expand on the factions and possibly even include the third faction (also make it to where not all characters models are almost exactly the same) and B) actually make a fluid, well rounded game with better missions and not combining the multiplayer with the story mode. It would be an instant cop for me because I honestly had a lot of fun playing and listening to the story.

It’s below mediocrity
@michaelwolf86904 жыл бұрын
I gotta disagree with you. There was really nothing in Brink that was typical of games in it's genre at the time. Even it's failures were fairly outstanding at the time. The games that aren't exceptional in any way, the games that become forgettable almost as soon as you move onto the next are the undying mega-titles of the industry like Call of Duty 2 or Fortnight. When you compare them to the dozens of Genre style games that tried harder or evolved beyond them trying to steal their player-base they really do nothing of note other than provide tons of players to shoot at any time of day.
@Harril82654 жыл бұрын
@@Xport9 Calling that disaster mediocre is being extraordinarily charitable.
@Harril82654 жыл бұрын
@@michaelwolf8690 Mediocrity isn't dependent on whether a game tries fresh, new, or different things; it's dependent on quality of execution, not innovation or originality. Most people would take a well-polished game taking a tried-and-true path over an original game with lousy execution any day of the week.
@TheLowBrassDude4 жыл бұрын
I gotta agree with you there. When I think about Brink I cannot thing of anything memorable or that stands out.
