...I... did actually play Gast. I’m Swedish and I played it as a kid. In fact it was even somewhat scary as a kid. An evil clown had stopped a magical carnival ride and turned everything scary. You went around this haunted carnival/mansion and everything was dark some really eerie music and atmosphere. Throughout the journey you will meet several creepy and unnerving characters like a Raven, a giant Venus Flytrap, an anthropomorphic Cat with some major Freddy Krueger claws etc. The most messed up part was you could either help them with issues they had... or you can literally feed them to the others. I used to always bring the Raven with me to the cat, just so the cat could kill him Now this was a children’s game... but it was one hell of a dark one.

For anyone who wasn't alive when this masterpiece came out, let me tall you: Drake was HUGE back in the day. When this game was unleashed upon our pathetic world it changed the rntire trajectory of video games. Max payne was considered lame and cheesy compared to Drake's effortless coolness. Halo was a game for virgins, chads played Drake. There were so many sequels and spin offs, Drake T-shirts and cereals and action figures and comics, live action shows, Drake was THE icon of 2000's. I still have my Undying Dragon T-shirt and that trenchcoat I wore every Halloween. And that kickass cartoon I watched on Jetix every Saturday morning that lasted 10 seasons, 26 episodes each.If you didn't have at least a few Drake related things kids at school wouldn't even want to talk to you. Drake's catchphrase "Out of this world" became the most quoted line of all time.Ninja turtles wasn't even a pimple of how huge Drake became. I remember that date: July 31, 2009 when the movie based on the game came out. It was fantastic. I watched it 5 Drakillion times that summer. The Matrix was so lame and stupid compared to the awesomeness of that movie. Still the parents complained it was too dark for kids. And that stupid sequel Drake 2: Secret of the Soul was so childish compared to that. A few more sequels and a couple of failed reboots by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes followed, but none had the same greatness as the first one. I love Drake. Still my favourite franchise and the greatest franchise of all time . "I am Drake. The assassin. To me, life is all about Death". So badass!!! Matt, I don't know if it's been said but I really appreciate the Advertising breaks. I hate when the ads cut people off mid sentence so to see you do this makes me happy. It means you care and I just wanted to say I care that you care. No homo

I’ve been going through giant rabbit holes of devs and stuff and the people who made this game are the same people who made star stable (Marcus Thorell), Just Cause, Mad Max, the finals, the Cities: skylines series (Every other developer except Marcus). Marcus Thorell (Star stable guy) consistently is getting the short end of the stick on all games he makes, either leaving the project before it gets popular, the project sucking, or it failing miserably. I think he has like a curse on him or something. All his previous co-workers and co-founders work on AAA games high up while now he doesn’t even work at anything anymore.

Every time I see this Bruce Timm- infused fever dream, I can't help but think of ways to make this work. 2 or 3 more passes in the drafting process and you would've had the bones of a servicable game. A fun exercise for wannabe game devs: Strip apart the game and make well-considered decisions of how you'd make it work as a game and a story.

Ah Loophole and Legend of Tann, the 2 fantasy book series made by Niklas Krog that I absolutely loved when I were a kid. I remember how in a intermission show between cartoons, animes and irl programs on every saturday morning were calling up random kids to tell them what to do in the game based on Loophole. Thx for reawakening some of my most dear childhood memories Matt.

I still remember the X-Play review of this game and it was glorious.

As a kid the only thing that stood out to me about this game as is that the character' art style reminded me of the batman cartoons.

What about Brave Samurai Musashi, the follow-up to the somewhat-obscure, but very solid, Brave Fencer Musashi?

I appreciate the old X-Play clip you included here; this game and that review are forever intertwined in my head because of how much G4 I was watching back then (probably too much!)

The only interaction I ever had with this game was sticking $9.99 stickers on our remaining inventory before tossing them into a bargain bin.

Now I want a Big Rigs what happened!!! That’s gotta be a good story. I think the devs are Russian? And they got rid of the infamous three handled trophy with “you’re winner!” in a patch which is hilarious.

4:28 Holy hell, i am Swedish and i actually remember Loophole. It was not a good game from what i remember but something that was cool as a kid was that it did have a tie-in Tv-series
