Brink of Speed although I can afford to purchase a C8 at one of those ridiculous prices, I don't want to contribute to what's causing these markups in the first place. If everyone stopped buying these vehicles with crazy markups, dealerships new and used would have to change their practices in order to make money. As much as I would love to own a new C8, I just can't justify giving away extra money for the privilege of owning something that I'm already paying for in the first place.

Henry Ford once said he paid a living wage (five bucks a day!) so that his employees could afford to buy the product they make. That salesman at Corvette World should, by the graces of the owner(s) should be given a Vette to use/own. It's sad to think the fellow who sells them so well isn't driving one. I hope I'm wrong but it looks like the bottom may have fallen out of the C8 market. And as far as the Z06 goes, I can't see a 12:5 to 1 compression engine running properly on 91or 93 octane gas. Gas for Z06 will be $15 - $20 a gallon if you can even get it. YIKES!! I've been in the market for a 458, but seriously considering a new C8 Zo6, because let's be honest, it's essentially a 10 year old naturally aspirated ferrari with much better interior tech for a fraction of the price, if you can get it at MSRP...the issues I have are dealer mark up, but more importantly the fact that this is a car that many people can finance/purchase and resale to make a few bucks, which brings human behavior into the equation, ultimately bringing the purchase price to the point where I'd rather buy the older exotic. I only buy historically depreciating assets such as cars with cash, and have never bought a third "toy" car, but I'd be damned if I'm going to do it during artificial mark up (due to optimism of future pricing) in addition to high inflation...I think I'll wait, as I know the difference between a want and a need. It does meet my "wants" in a car, so I do hope it follows normal depreciation curves and I can custom order mine in time
@steinb62712 жыл бұрын
Don't forget about maintenance costs, reliability, and insurance. C8 insurance is laughably cheap (mine's cheaper than my Camry). Everyone (including me) would love a Ferrari, but getting a brand new car under warranty with butt warmers, XM, and all the other goodies at the price of a 10yr old stallion is pretty much unbeatable. You can find them at MSRP, but it takes some work and some wait.
@kalvin98612 жыл бұрын
More like a better faster reborn version of the 458 to be honest not a 10 year old Ferrari in my opinion. The Ferrari your comparing it to is 100 hp less with 10 year old tech vs 100 more hp with new tech so that’s gonna be way better not like a 10 year old Ferrari.
@jaquevius2 жыл бұрын
@@kalvin9861 Yes, I agree. They improved on the now 10 year old version, and made it affordable, which is why I'm heavily considering purchasing a Z06. Yes, Ferrari moved on a decade ago from this technology, and is at the cutting edge for consumers, just a few years behind F1, but this car has all of the elements of the beloved 458 (plus the fact that it's new and not 10 years old), and can be purchased for 1/4 the price of a loaded F8 with (IMO) better interior equipment. That's why I think this is a great car, but also I'm an older American so I may be biased. I've priced a new loaded F8 with the same tech as a fully loaded Z06 z07 with all the goodies, and we're talking 450-500K+ vs ~150? for the carbon ceramic brakes/wheels etc? Considering many of my friends want the nostalgia of the NA 458, wtf wouldn't I buy a much cheaper and newer z06 with a warranty? I don't care about status and exclusivity, but I do care about the sounds and feel....so the z06 with the z07 fully loaded convertible has my attention in a big way....when prices correct in a few years of course
@kalvin98612 жыл бұрын
@@jaquevius Ferrari also improved on now 10 plus year old versions of a V engines but they make them un affordable for most people. So your point is?? Ferrari only produces a v12 flat plan engine all others are straight or v engines. So then your saying Ferrari is also using old versions of a v engine and just improving on them. Same concept your using for the C8. Now it just got flipped back on your precious Ferraris lol NEXT!!
@jaquevius2 жыл бұрын
@@kalvin9861 I think you misinterpreted me. I was actually making a case for the new Z06 over Ferrari. Fully loaded ~150K vs 400K+ for a car that is honestly too fast for the road, with F1 technology, and doesn't have the sound/soul it had since the ~10 year old version in the 458. I personally feel they muted the sound too much in efforts to gain irrational speed (unless you're a professional driver in a competition). The new Z06 has all the elements of the beloved 458 is my point. The NA sound most importantly, as well as the fact that it is usable for skilled normal humans.

Agree with his statement that the dealership should have a Vett rep who knows the car - Bachman Chevy had ChevyDude & he was a real asset to them. But now he’s the used car lot dude …. 😔 Sad

Stumbled onto this video. Nice interview and just video in general. Sales guy is or seems like a very decent guy and would be worth buying from. I am in no market for a corvette but still look at the 2017s z06.

Car salesman: Let me help build your Corvette. Me: Ok! For 50 years of driving all that matters to me is my sporty car has a manual transmission. Salesman: Chevy refuses to build that kind of Corvette! Me: Oh, what a shame.

Lets face it production has been finally caught up with demand. Like the real Estate market people paying thousands of dollars over asking or appraisal price. My sister recently purchased a home and the asking price was $ 600,000. House went on the market and on the first day they had 6 offers for over asking price. She ended up paying $10,000 more but she got it. She wanted it and paid the price & then some. Same goes for the C8's. It used to be used C8's were $100,00 - $110,000 used from Carmax. I for one wouldn't pay $ 10,000 - $20,00 over MSRP, especially for a used one, but then again some will & do. When the Corvette factory had that storm damage I thought that the prices would go back up due to G.M. scrapping 100+ C8 cars.

selling 80k cars for 120k gets old quick. you rarely see a new corvette on the street, but there's TONS of them online for sale most dealers have them for a long time before they sell

factory sticker price is around 60k. The high dealer markup is coming to an end. It always does. oh well.

People don't understand that any dealership buys cars new or used at wholesale price period. Like he stated if someone paid way over list you can't sell it to dealership at retail price.

I have mix feelings! I’m familiar with both Corvette Worlds in Houston and Dallas. I know Russell, Matt, and have met Robert before. I purchased my C7 ZO6 and 427 Convertible from them. I also sold my C5 ZO6, 2015 Mustang GT, and 427 Convertible to them as well. I use to go to the Houston location all the time and have been by the Dallas location as well, probably since buying my C5 ZO6 back in 2003. I also purchased a bunch of accessories from them as well. I don’t think I would buy anything from them now for a couple of reasons. 1) No test drives on C8 even for an established customer, 2) They low ball the hell out of my C7 ZO6 ZO7 Seven Speed with 4300 miles on it at 70K, when they are selling them with more miles at 79K-83K, and lastly I tried to buy my C5 ZO6 back after two weeks of regret for 3K over what they paid me, 3K wasn’t enough profit and they sold it to someone else. I had the car for 15 years. So that’s a past for me on a purchasing a C8 from them. Nothing personal to the sales team, but right is right!

Well he did force you to sell or buy right? If I sold my house at $1.5M and a month later someone is willing to buy that same house for $1.8M. The new owner has every right to sell it at market value. He took the risk to buy the car or house. any gain or loss is on him.
@thecarpergarage9162 жыл бұрын
@@jml9550 no they didn’t force me to sell my car to them. However, having a relationship as a repeat customer definitely is a lot different than some stranger buying a house that went up in a value one month as you put it. I’m not burning with money, but a $3000 profit in two weeks with no overhead and retaining a repeat customer is more important to me than making $4000 from a new customer. I’m still in business long term and making money or as CW did (make a quick 4000 or whatever amount) and lose a customer forever. If that doesn’t work, try number 1 and 2 reasons.
@jml95502 жыл бұрын
@@thecarpergarage916 well I hear and feel you. But the matter of fact is if they are willing to lose you as a long time customer for chump change means your biz means nothing based on your story. Maybe he already took the deposit from the new customer and by contract he cannot void it without paying penalty?. I am in my late 40s and life happens. I live and learn on decisions I made and have to face the consequences. Sometimes things go my way, so be it.

Trying to sell a 2020. A USED 2020 with 5k miles on it for "under 100k" as if that's a deal. Get fucked. Everyone is still gouging the shit out of cars and C8's are really bad with scalpers and 'dealers' (Aka scalpers). Get fucked I'm not getting rid of my C7 to buy a c8 30k over sticker for a USED car.

Why would anyone need to sell a C8 to these guys at a bargain, when you could put a "for sale" sign in the window and sell for the same price they'd turn around and sell it for pretty easily?

As long as there people willing to pay those high prices, dealers will be happy to sell them at max price. Those are not “good prices”. They just better than others.
