The battery isn't that hard to get out. You don't remove the cruise control (what he called the "horn") or the computer. You can remove the side panel and simply pull it out that way. It is held in with 5 bolts, takes about 5 minutes.

I have a '94 and LOVE it! Just an LT1 automatic but LOVE it. Did the Opti Spark change my self and its not that bad to do. Remind Rob that you can also pop the hatch with the switch on the end of the door. Plus the easiest way to tell a ZR1 is the rear plate. There is an 1.5 inch black plastic space on each side of the license plate between it and the back up lights. Non ZR1 cars the plate is right next to the back up lamps. Cool video though. A C4 fan.

I have the same exact car 96 CE 6spd. Mine has the 275/40/17 all the way around. You missed the hatch release on the door and I have the PKE key fob. This car is just as fast as a C5. I've raced a couple of them and never lost. I've always been door handle to to door handle with C5 manuals and beat 2 C5 autos. When I bought this car I was looking for a C5 and had the money for a nice option C5 and ran across the fully loaded low mile collector edition lt4 and had to take it and haven't regretted a minute of it.

That's not a horn, that's the actuator for the cruise control. Battery access is pretty straight forward. You just take that little vent body panel off behind the wheel and slide the battery out through the side. The fuel pump takes about 30 mins to swap out right through that door which is a pretty cool feature. I test drove a 1999 C5 and a 1996 C4 LT-4 right before COVID really got crazy and ended up with the C4. Better looking car (subjective), felt more raw and mechanical to drive, felt faster and punchier (SoTP feeling), and the trans felt way smoother. I ended up buying the 96 with 8500 miles in Comp Yellow for $18.5k and still have it. It has 12000 miles on it now.

Great to see a C4 vid. Not many Collector Edition cars with red int, zillions with black or gray. To say battery removal was difficult is an understatement. The biggest thing for me to consider is just price because the price of a C4 for a running car starts around 4k and you start to see really well mantained examples around 7 or 8k. While for a c5 it starts to go into the mid teens for well maintained cars. Also the look of the C4 is changing for me because where it used to look pretty trashy (at least when I was younger) now it just looks retro. The body lines are so clean and I feel like the shape holds up really well.

FUN FACT: The battery placement on these C fours we’re in a good spot for thieves. What they would do is take a screwdriver and a hammer and puncture the battery through the side vent let it drain out to the power died then they could get into it without the alarm going off and steal it easily. Especially since a lot of these cars sat for many many days if not weeks or months because people only drove them on the weekends so they would never know the battery was dead even if it took a couple days. Still an awesome car I’ve had 13 Corvettes so far and I’m looking for number 14 right now

My Vette mechanic (shout out to Mark At Titus-Will in Olympia, WA) is superb. Anyway I asked him the worst Vette to own/maintain and he quickly replied "C4". Why? He states over engineered with so many electronic components and old tech to run all those bundles of wires that electronic gremlins were numerous and a genuine pain. He claims a great car to drive but as they aged electronic gremlins made ownership difficult. C5, he states much improved.

In know C5 is improved in almost every way except (for me ) appearance. When the transaxle moved to the rear in C5 the a$$ end got way too fat for me. Also everything on the car got rounded even details like the door handles. Styling wise the C5 became my keast favourite generation. The C4 cockpit is the closest one can get to the cockpit of a F16 without joining the military. This C4 is sporting C5 rotors and calipers (a easy and worthwhile mod) and no you don't have to remove mechanical stuff to take the battery out as the lower fender comes of with four or five bolts.

LT4 is nice but if you’re going to get a C4 just spring for the ZR-1 in my opinion

In 1998 I bought a ‘96 C4 LT4, manual 4 speed. It was a deep green color, reminiscent of British Racing Green. That was s great car!

Never close the hood on a C4 with the door open! Chips the paint.

Robert don’t know nothing about C4 Those so called Door cubbies you used to find on early 90s c4 didn’t exist . 1994-96 is the only years that had them . Up to 93 had a huge glove box on top of the dash . They added the door panel compartments to make up for the loss of space when the glove box went away for the passenger side airbag .

They say they went hard on the lt4 and early ls cause engineers where pissed they used lotus and others for the lt5
@Trebor-gw8lt

True. The LT5 was a “not born here” engine and there was some resentment within the engineering ranks. The LS was a nail in the LT5’s coffin. The LT5 was too tall to fit under the C5’s hood and the LS fit like a glove. They did have a Gen 3 LT5 in development though. Lingenfelter has it now. 😂😂

@@Trebor-gw8ltThe thing I never could understand is how they managed to get almost the same power with pushrods and two valve heads. It doesn't make any sense and I've not seen a similar situation repeated anywhere else ever. Unless there was some fundamental problem with the whole LT5 design.

You should give away a 50th anniversary Corvette for your giveaway of 50,000 subscribers. You’ll probably get 100,000 more subscribers overnight lol Or a Corvette go kart or some really cool Corvette memorabilia to hang up etc.

My superb mechanic claims the C4 was the worst Corvette to own due to electronic complexities. He said the wiring bundles are a nightmare and gremlins besieged the C4. C5 he states a much better car

@Kathi Jordan Sorry to disagree but this guy has an adult lifetime of Vette experience through every iteration. He likes the C4 to drive but he says they have been headaches to deal with electronically......nothing is impossible I guess but I wouldn't bet against it....

got 91, 92k miles, 6spd. I am original owner, have driven hard at times, NEVER had an electrical problem ever. My car is all original down to the wiper blades and everything works. A/C is cold as ice and never been serviced. brings a smile to my face every time I drive it even today after 32 yrs.

Hey Mike! Random question! When we move out near you I think we're looking to buy a new Tahoe. Can you recommend a Chevy dealer that will do MSRP nearby?

Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine talk to Rod Pitzer, I bought a 2022 Tahoe RST from him last fall. This is where Mike bought his c8. Paid msrp and they had one unspoken for had it in a few weeks. Tell Rod Darren and Mike sent you his way he he will take care of you.

@@nrdemon1031 amazing, thank you! We were there this past weekend shopping for houses and we rented a Tahoe for the weekend the purposely to see how we would like it and we'd loved it. Also made it way easier to drive around in the heat looking at houses all day long for 3 days LOL. Nice place to spend time. I need to familiarize myself with the different packages but we're definitely going to buy one. Timing it works out great because our lease is up on my wife's car right before we will move

@@MichaelGreco I agree the new 2022 Tahoe is great, we are on a 2k mile road trip as we speak. Ours has The 6.2L, I originally wanted the 3L diesel but was impossible to get. Classic is the number one dealer in TX, Rod can tell you what’s coming and not spoken for, good chance he will have something for you that is relatively reasonable wait. If you have any questions on the area let me know I live in the Keller/Southlake area.
