Great refresher from Nancy Marchant's CRAFTSY class many years ago! Thank you!

I still contend this is the best Brioche class I've taken. Especially since I was watching your how to knit Brioche flat and I hear slip yo burp, he he (hubby is on vacation and doesnt knit) from the couch.

I always knit my i-cord with double pointed needles. No need to shuffle stitches just slide them to the other side of your dpn.

After watching your videos I finally feel like I can actually make something that is brioche. I love the yarn you are using. It's beautiful! You give very good instructions. Thank you

Thank you for the brioche classes, I have finished the hat and the scarf is coming along nicely. Your videos are very clear and informative and the choice of projects was great. Cannot believe I have made a wearable brioche item at my first attempt.

If you use a DPNs on the cord, you can just slide it over and never have to transfer stitches.

Brioche is driving me nuts! I have been trying to learn it for over a week and it still looks like a birds nest lol. But your video is by far the best I have came across and I will keep trying until I get it!!!

I got a set of cheap metal afghan crochet hooks from aliexpress and, with a little heat, removed the back stops. They are super long and have no finger grip area... I can pick up and knit all my stitches with the hook and them slide them all to the knitting needle in one swoop...

If I’m using the same yarn as for the hat (worsted) so they match, I wonder if I should use the same size 5 needle to work with? I’ll swatch first to see how it comes out but I’m thinking it will be fluffy like the hat... we shall see! Gotta finish the hat first lol. Thanks for the awesome videos!

Hello, I'm new to this, but would like to knit this scarf, and learn brioche, which I seem to be having trouble with learning. As always, it's the count that is defeating me. In this case, you knit one row of I-cord, then say to do that 34 more times. Total, 35 rows of I-cord. Does that include the stitch on the needle? Then, you say to move the stitches back and knit three, which means another row of I-cord, right? And then you say to pick up and knit 36 (which will include the three on the provisional row), but since you started with 35, added one row, which makes 36, but then end up knitting the three that are on the waste yarn, isn't that 3 (on the needle) + 36 + 3 = 42? I am confused. If anybody could clear this up for me, you would be an absolute angel. Add to that, I just read the pattern and it says to do 34 rows, slip them over, knit 3, then pick up 33 stitches from the I-cord (but you have 35 rows now, right?) and then to add the 3 from the provisional cast on, for a total of 39. I don't get that either. Knit 3, pick up 33, pick up last 3, that does equal 39, but where did the extra 2 rows go?

Have you had the chance to download and review the free pattern? The link is in the video description.

I'm having the same problem!!! I can't figure out the numbers... I started this again 3 times now always ending up with 2-3 extra stitches. I just don't understand what counts and what doesn't.

The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, any reason, other then preference, that you are using DK weight?
@PurlTogether5 жыл бұрын
Nope, just preference as to the weight, feel and colors that I had in my stash. Thanks for watching!

I was going to knit this. However it is just confounding to realize that I just went out and purchased some worsted weight yarn as the pattern calls for and now realize you're knitting with sock yarn, of which I have an abundance of and size 5 needles. Now I realize you know what your doing, however I am so confused now I will just find another pattern to learn brioche.
@PurlTogether4 жыл бұрын
I used a heavier DK for my project, not sock yarn. You can see my Ravelry project page here www.ravelry.com/projects/JanaKnitsalot/brioche-basix-scarf
