Bristol Cut-Off: We’re Not Mad, Just Disappointed.

Were you as disappointed in the Bristol race as Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi? After an electrifying Xfinity race on Friday night, the first cut-off race of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs felt lackluster. Where were the tire wear and strategic plays we saw in the spring? Can the short-track package be saved? Four drivers were eliminated tonight, including half of Joe Gibbs Racing. Will this race score the lowest on the good race poll? Jeff and Jordan tell all.

The highlight for me was Kyle v Kyle for 30 laps which it's a very sad day when the best battle I saw all night was the leader who is a generational talent battling the previous generational talent who's in a shitbox in 28th. But once Kyle said he lost his right rear grip, it was over.

why cant NASCAR allow the teams to be "creative" on short tracks? I don't buy that only the top teams would be able to take advantage....that is the reality of the current NASCAR "policing" the garage regime ....that or NASCAR needs to gets some humility and allow 750 to 1000hp. Tires: Remeber how quick Goodyear reacted last spring the had a in race press conference. culturally they're just never going to take that risk of tires blowing or wearing out. It's just not in their DNA . I think they're more afraid of the national press than NASCAR fans being frustrated with tires not wearing. I think they'd rather take that hit, which is sad because I don't think they realize it makes them look like they don't know how to make tires. like they're clueless as to how to on demand... build and bring tires that wear at a particular rate. ...... what they failed to see is that it makes him look an effectual against a maker like Perelli, who can do that with Formula One ....... they look like the gang that can't shoot straight .... I don't think that's the case so that must be intentional which means we have to find another way and that is horsepower.

NASCAR developed this super-duper hi tech car wanting parity and lower expense. Now that they achieved their goal no one is happy so TIRES are the problem? Good teams are just good teams and are gonna figure it out no matter how much more NASCAR tries to narrow the "lanes" to restrict the ability for the quality teams to "figure it out" quicker than the lower tier teams. Face it, the tire compounds are not gonna resolve the short track issues until they come up with a consistent tire formula. Either dumb-down the cars, figure out a consistently inconsistent tire, more leeway for the teams to adjust their cars either into or out of contention during the race or play with horsepower, tires are not the ONLY solution to the perceived problem. So to be disappointed in the difference between the spring race and the fall race because of the tire expectation is a bit premature as they haven't figured out how to dumb down the high tech car. What would you expect if you try put 15" bias ply tires on a Maserati? Why would you DO that?!!!

Not saying that the race was great. I thought it was okay and I enjoyed watching Kyle Larson demonstrate his dominance. But if you thought this race was going to be the same or similar to the spring race I think you set yourself up. Although this race wasn't riddled with incidents, passing, unexpected mishaps... How creative should Nascar be at creating obstacles? The real problem isn't tires or fuel tank size, etc. The car itself is untouchable. No creative innovations, where such things could be celebrated instead of eliminated. Racing has turned into elementary school go-carts, instead of where good teamplay and technical risk taking can shine.

It's not that hard... it was the weather... concrete is completely different from asphalt and the spring is right after winter so the concrete was tighter and way more abrasive due to the winter instead of months after months of hot weather allowing the concrete to settle more and become less abrasive with that along with the track taking rubber the time around plus the grip strips so the cars weren't even on the track surface itself on the bottom lane.. I think its the track and weather more than the tire compound.. but i am a dumb ass welder lol.. 😂

The NASCAR Playoffs suck. I say this as a 25 year-plus, weekly viewer of all 3 NASCAR touring series. I much prefer how NHRA does their playoff system. The NHRA rewards the teams that perform best for the long haul, not just 3 week fluke cutoffs! Also, this generation Cup Series car stinks at short track races. The low profile tires, and the unlimited downforce on the underside of the car just ruins short track racing. Bring back 5-lug wheel/higher profile tires, then go from there to get back to Truck and Xfinity-level short track racing. It’s the car, damnit! The NEXT Gen car just sucks, they removed all NASCAR-features from this chassis, and that is what ruined the decades of improvements that MADE NASCAR racing fun to watch.

Whats next watching and hoping for crashes this sport has been boring for a long time Nascar has 2 row restarts stage breaks to tighten up the field there is no innovation they control everything from gearing to springs its all to get some loser driver to have a chance to win if you want it down to the skill of the driver and the team set up then you get what you get. So how did that work out for the Burton Kid who lucked out and won a race never to be heard of again

He won in every other series he's raced in, including Xfinity. The only driver to do anything in the 21 car for years going back was Blaney, and while he won, it wasn't a lot of wins. I think Harrison just needs more time, much like Joey did. You're right about the car though for sure.
