I'm sorry but you are doing my head in right now. I am 4 minutes into your video and I am so confused. I mean no disrespect and I do not mean to stereotype but..... HOW CAN YOU HAVE AN ENGLISH ACCENT and not know about cricket?????????????? Please explain on your next video plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I know that there will be ahuge percent of your followers that are just as confused as I am right now seeing the cricket is an English game.

Everyone who gets a century gets a standing ovation. It's the gentleman part of the game that the crowd respects what the batsman have achieved, whether it's a batsman from there country or the opposition country. Cricket is a 365 day game. Cricket is one of if not the only sport that is played internationally country against country. It's not a once of game here & there, the comp is all cricketing nations playing against each other chasing summer across the world. So instead of like in Soccer that they play in domestic comps/ leagues & then get picked into the national side to play against another country as a one off game the cricketing comp is a international comp like a world cup but it's continual international game played all round. So atm us Aussie's are playing against the West Indies here in Straya atm in the mens, South Africa's women's team are here playing against our women. New Zealand are currently as i type this are playing against South Africa in NZ & India playing against England in India. And yes majority of those were against England

Yes it's a very popular sport, in particular on the subcontinent it is seen as a great path to a profitable career and family success, a way out of poverty! All the participating countries have a chance to compete as a professional team, without social bias, and gain crucial experience from the other teams! It's less potitical and elitist than the Soccer Cup! 👍 Like Australia's AFL matches, it's also more family friendly than Soccer or Rugby! 🙋

Cricket is the 2nd biggest sport in the world, only beaten by soccer/football bowlers is trying to knock over the sticks called stumps of which 2 bails balance on top. To get them out the bails must come off the stumps. Failing that they will try to have Th ball caught out on the full or throw the ball into the stumps while the batters are running still. One of them where you questioned if failing to connect was out, the batter was out called LBW or leg before wicket. This is when the batter fails to hit the ball and his leg is hit. If that ball would have hit the stumps had he not blocked them with his legs that is out. There are many more ways but those are 95% of the ways you will ever see some one out.

As cricket 🏏 is played throughout Australia's 🇦🇺 summer ☀️, sometimes the people watching the match will don watermelon 🍉 helmets, use KFC buckets as hats & some sections of the crowd I've seen dresses as a famous cricket commentator, the late Richie Benaud. Very funny. A hat trick refers to a bowlers getting 3 batsman out in a row. Difficult to achieve. There are several ways to get out. By the wickets falling, run out (if a batsman is running but a fielder throws the ball @ the wickets if the batsman hasn't run over the line of the opposing stumps, LBW (leg before wicket) if the batsman misses hitting the ball & it hits below his knee, in line of the trajectory whereby the ball would have hit the stumps, thereby declaring the batsman out. When a batsman is out you'll see the umpire jesture with his arm raised above his head & his index finger up. If a batsman hits a ball & it reaches the ropes around the outer field, the umpire will gesture with arm extended in front of him with his index finger extended & moving the arm in a sweeping motion, indicating the ball has reached the ropes, thereby giving the batsman an automatic 4 runs. As you saw, Gilchrist hit a number of over the fence shots. These are automatically 6 free runs. Here, the umpire will raise both arms in the air to indicate a 6. It's an honour to wear the baggy green cap, when you have made it into the Australian side. Kind regards from Adelaide, South Australia 🇦🇺

Cricket is like baseball but has 2 ‘Home plates’ called wickets which are upright instead of flat. The wicket consists of three stumps - pointy- ended sticks pushed into the ground - with two little rounded tubes called bails that balance between two stumps, side by side. When the stumps are hit that is called ‘being stumped’. The batsman is out. There are two batsmen on the field simultaneously to defend each wicket. They are ‘in to bat’. Only one end is targeted by the bowler each ‘over’. (See below) The batsman or batswoman (batter) at the active end faces the bowler (pitcher) who runs in from one side of the non-batter wicket while the non-batter stands in front of the 2nd wicket. The non-active wicket is like a combined 1st, 2nd and 3rd base in baseball. Both wickets are always live during play and a wild ball can be caught by a fielder and thrown at one wicket or both wickets sequentially, if the batsman is out of position- eg running - to take out the batsman trying to defend it. If the ball hits the wicket before the batsman can get the end of the bat to touch the ground within the ‘crease’, they will be out. This is called a run-out. The bowler must ‘bowl’ the ball - not throw it - to ensure the ball hits the ground within the pitch between the two wickets and bounces up towards the wicket- not aimed at the batsman’s head! Bowlers can put spin on the ball to make it behave unpredictably after it hits the pitch. If a batsman hits the ball and a fielder catches it on the full before it can hit the ground, the batsman is caught out. End of his/her innings. The bowler has 6 attempts (called an ‘over’) to hit the wicket at one end to dislodge the bails. Then the bowler changes ends or another bowler takes their place at the new end. The batsman on strike hits the ball and can decide to run towards the other wicket to take a single run (point) while the other batsman tries to run to defend the wicket abandoned by the striking batsman. The non- striker does not gain any runs even if he runs the pitch like the striker. If they get confused or change decisions in the middle one batsman may get run out. (Like musical chairs). Hopefully, not the better scorer. If the ball hit from the bat flies far enough, both batsmen can run back to their original positions and the striker gains 2 runs (points). If the fielding is inept, the batsmen may run another run or two. Odd number of runs within an over, 1 or 3, etc, will put the other batsman at the strike end and he/she will face the bowler and can score runs instead of the original striking batsman. The batsman does not have to try to take a run if the fielding team is set closely, making a run-out likely or if the hit was weak. The fielding positions can be anywhere around the pitch, including behind or at either side of the batsman. If the ball hits the bat and glances away, a fielder in ‘slips’ can catch it and throw it at the bails if the batsman runs forward past the ‘crease’ line. Once the batsman is out of the crease the wicket is vulnerable. The wicket-keeper fielding position is directly behind/side the batsman, ready to catch a live ball on the full to catch the batsman out, or to throw or touch the ball to the wicket when the batsman runs out of the crease, before the other batsman can reach that end to defend that wicket. A good wicket-keeper can discourage a batsman from taking the risk of a run for fear of the wicket being hit. If the batsman strikes a big hit over the closer fielders and it falls within the cricket oval but runs over the boundary they automatically score 4 runs (points) and do not have to run. If the ball goes straight from the bat over the boundary the batsman automatically scores 6 runs (points) without running between wickets. The other batsman gets nil. If the ball would have hit the stumps but the batsman’s leg was blocking the path of the ball, then the umpire can declare the batsman out LBW - leg before wicket. If the bowler thinks it was LBW he/she will call to the umpire “Howzat?” Meaning “How was that? Was it LBW?” A batsman can be Caught, for (runs scored) eg Caught for 23 Also Caught and Bowled - means bowler caught ball on the full Caught Behind means the Wicket-Keeper caught the ball on the Full. Caught LBW, Run Out, Out for a Duck (shape of duck egg = 0, means scored no runs before being out. A bowler’s stats are recorded as how many batsmen were out for how many runs against the balls bowled by that bowler. Eg. 4 for 150 means 4 batsmen were dismissed for a total of 150 runs they scored. Also how many ‘no balls’ - invalid bowls that batsmen not expected to be able to hit. Too wide, too short, etc. I’ve only ever been a spectator but this is a rough summary of my understanding as a starting point.

I’m Aussie and hate cricket, and call it the game where you wait for something to happen but even I know the basic rules lol. If you want a laugh look for how cricket was invented by Jimmy Rees. He’s Australian and his mix of information and comedy are sublime.

baseball was born from cricket, the balls are similar size to a baseball, only hard like a golf ball and can be pushing up towards 200kph (not sure what fastest deliveries are, could make for an interesting vid react though) and you have a thin bit of padding and a bat to protect yourself with, gets quite physical on body, so getting runs (making it to the other end is 1 run, boundary on bounce is 4 and over on full is 6) of 100 or more is celebrated, people can't run after playing for 2 (or more) days in the heat, on occasions, so hitting 300 runs is a massive feat of both skill and endurance, along with a tiny bit of luck

Cricket is like baseball, someone launches a ball and a batter tries to hit it. But unlike baseball this is where Aussies love beating England. Although would enjoy beating England in baseball too, but it's the nobility of the sport of cricket that makes it special.
