Tailgating doesn't just happen at football games, it also happens at many concerts, music festivals, and other activities. I went to an outdoor blues festival in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. People were going back and fourth between watching the concert to walking back into the parkinglot to party/tailgate and listen to the concert from the parking lot. Many people never went in, they just enjoy tailgating.

My kids go to a catholic high school and it’s completely normal for parents to tailgate before all kinds of school events.

If you're using Solo cups, an especially helpful thing to note is that the indentations on the side of the cup have meanings as measurements. The bottom-most is a shot. The middle is a standard wineglass and the upper is a pint of beer.

It always amazes me how surprised people from other countries, especially Europe, are about how welcoming and warm-hearted Americans are as a whole to strangers. It makes me wonder how foreign media/press portrays us. I can understand that if they are from an adversarial country but not a friendly one.
@JJVPYOU7 сағат бұрын
Is not how the foreign media portraits us, is more that the act of being friendly, starting conversations, and being welcomed into the group by total strangers is not the way most Europeans act. That comment is almost universal among Europeans that come to the States. Chit chating and starting conversations with total strangers is not something Europeans do.
@jgnauman227 сағат бұрын
Very true. I've been to various countries in Europe over the years and the only time I really made any friends there was when I lived in Germany for 3 years, and it still took a while with them. Interesting though, I went to Russia a while back and made immediate friends with a gang of people that were very accommodating. It's really interesting to travel and experience all kinds of different cultures.
@vegas70276 сағат бұрын
@@JJVPYOU That's a very good point and very true. However, I have been in other countries as well and seen the media and even news outlets really exaggerate American stereotypes. Sometimes it's done with no harm intended and then a few definitely had an agenda. Fortunately, things like KZbin can do a lot of good to dispel those myths from all countries. 😃I love learning and there are some great creators out there that do a wonderful job bridging people together. Sadly, our own media sometimes does a horrible job of perpetuating stereotypes. Have a great weekend!

Tailgating is an excuse for a football game. You MUST go to a college football game; best food will be at an SEC game. My last tailgate party was at the GA-FL game, also known as the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Ole Miss is also renowned for its tailgating.

I threw a thanksgiving in cheltenham england at my then boyfriends house. I had to ship some stuff and I cooked for 3 days and I think we had about a dozen people. 1st they expected me to have some kind of “meltdown” lol. I then was questioned about what we did on thanksgiving and I told them we had house parties with food and either games after or a walk outside and then kept asking me about gifts. They were so surprised that we didn’t exchange gifts and I told them it wasn’t about that. It was just one day a year that we gathered with family and friends and were thankful. At the end they were talking amongst themselves that. They should have Thanksgiving. Pretty interesting.

We used to play Quarters a lot growing up!!! You have to bounce a quarter off the table and into the glass. If you make it you get to pick who drinks. I usually pick myself at the beginning of the Game!!! You dont want to seem like you're picking on one person or everyone will pick you to drink every time!!! As you can imagine that person ends up trashed very quickly.

Tailgating is taken very seriously here. My buddy is a big Angels fan, and he's stake out a spot under the Big A sign with his 40' RV. Food wise it usually shredded BBQ beef brisket (for sandwiches), fried chicken, cheesy potatos, potato salad, macaroni salad, salad, apple pie and some other desserts. It's easier to either make the food ahead of time or have it made for us, haul it in the RV and heated up out there. We used to BBQ put it takes longer, and inevitably the cook would get drunk and the food would get burned.

The best thing about tailgating is that every team/area has their own unique foods/traditions. For instance, in Buffalo you have the insane Bills Mafia who will jump through tables that were set on fire (seriously). And then in places like KC, Texas, etc you can get some great BBQ. Come to a Giants or Jets game and be prepared to try different types of lasagnas and other Italian food. Each place has something unique, but something everyone has in common is getting absolutely plastered before you even get into the Stadium haha.

The most serious state about American football is Texas. Games at Arlington (near Dallas) arewhere the pros play. I grew up in Texas, no matter how young, or what size you are, there is a football team for you. I started at 9 years old. You can also order beer and food during the game. They are fun

I'm definitely biased here but in the pro ranks, the tailgating experience in Buffalo is well known for being out of this world. Which makes it so annoying that it was raining just hard enough before the game I went to that my cousin (a longtime Buffalo resident) didn't want to partake in the festivities, and come to think of it, I couldn't blame her. In a scale you'd be most familiar with the temperature was between 0 and 1 Celsius before the game; when it dropped below freezing and the rain turned into snow it was a marked improvement. I mean I loved it but your mileage may vary.

Actually everyone’s menu is different and often it depends on who is playing who. One person actually creates a menu based on smashing two signature foods together into a new dish. It pokes fun at the opponent in a good way. Tailgating is tradition at every college and professional team. You set up with a few tvs to watch the game, coolers of cold drinks and lots of food that will be shared around. People often park RVs because it’s easier to cook and store things when everything is done. New York City it’s not exactly illegal more like it frowned upon as space is a major factor.
@TrulyUnfortunate6 сағат бұрын
You cant beat a good tailgate party!!! Some people who dont have tickets will sit in the parking lot and someone always brings a big screen TV and they just hang out in the parking lot to watch the game.

hi, i"m from texas and i thought i"d tell you how tailgate parties started and what they were originally intended to be , as you well know foods and drinks are pretty expensive in the stadium , so some intelligent people thought they would just bring their own foods and drinks , since you cannot go inside with them , they would get to the game in plenty of time to eat and drink in the parking lot before going in, Americans being ever resourceful started bringing their own b-b-que grills to make a "meal" and party of it before going in , others saw and started doing it too, soon we have complete strangers with nothing more in common than the love of the game stopping and chatting and being invited to a meal or a beer , wah la --tailgate parties were born, now they've become a lil" bit commercialized and that saddens me a lot , gone is the spontaneity of making friends out of complete strangers and jus sharing a beer and whatever for the love of the game and meeting others who share your passion , and nothing to do with profit .

It's good to see her have a good time. I've watched a few of her videos and usually she's really confused about the reasons things are as they are in the US. Then she takes it in a negative light because things are different and confusing her. I've always thought she needed more time with Americans and she would get the meaning behind differences then she'd be able to relax and enjoy with the stress of her confusion finally removed.
