The 80s cannot ever be matched in the music it produced. That was just one song per month. Listening to a radio in the 80s was like a non-stop greatest hits album, from every artist. Back then they would tell us what time they would be playing some of the recent favorites.

I graduated in 1980. I had no idea what was ahead for me. Looking back on those days I realize now how lucky we were. The music was not only better, but you could actually afford to go to a concert without having to mortgage your firstborn to finance it. I saw Night Ranger open for Sammy Hagar at the DU Arena on 3/20/1983 tickets were $10 Def Leppard opened for Billy Squeir at McNichols arena on 4/12/1983 my ticket was $12.65 Bruce Sprngsteen on 11/11/1984 at McNichols Arena my ticket was $16.50 9/3/1985 Dire Straits at Redrocks, my ticket was $13.20. I could go on, but you get my point. It was a wild decade. and I am truly grateful that I lived in that time.

I remember seeing a show called "In Search Of..." narrated by Leonard Nemoy (Spock) in the 1970s before the Titanic was found. Took humans over 70 years to find the big boat. And if you're ever interested in more Prince, I'm your buddy! Been a fan since 1980. He was the Mozart of our time, writing, playing every instrument, singing live (no lip syncing!), a guitar legend, one of the widest vocal ranges ever, and could dance like no other (yes, MJ was an incredible dancer, too).

"Say You, Say Me,...Say some more pronouns." That's how we used to sing it. lol. Eternal Flame from April 1989 was my wedding song. Hands down the best decade of music! Radio stations would play everything, not just one genre. We had rock and disco that spilled over from the 70s and the 80s just gave us everything else, pop, punk, country, dance, rock, slow jamz that had meaning, rap, reggae, and there were even weird songs that had people asking questions and it would be answered with snippets of songs. So much musical influence for the next 4 decades! Best decade for music!

Ancient music fan here. To really get the feel for the evolution of modern music, it's good to start with the 1950's, with the birth of rock 'n' roll & the skyrocketing popularity of country & western. Musicians today sample songs from the '70's & '80's, while the musicians of the '70's & '80's covered songs from the '50's & '60's, even incorporating classical music into their work. Great music never goes away. Thanks for your reaction.
