I argued about pronunciation with the English teacher at school because he insisted on pronouncing like an upper-class Englishman. I was then and still am of the opinion that it is just a Finnish accent and it can be heard in speech. But because it was so hard for her to understand, I spoke "rally English" throughout school just to annoy her. You could also see it in the number.

Key points. Finland has won world championship 4 times (1995, 2011, 2019 and 2022). Those in the Video, were from Pesäpallo, which is a game, that is professionally played only in Finland, the "national" sport. However, in the world, there are just few nations, that can be taken seriously in this sport. They are Finland, Sweden Russia, Czech, Slovakia, USA, Canada and nowadays also Switzerland and Germany have reached the competitive level. All others can make single surprises but they have never reached even near the top.. Also, you have to note, that as NHL playoffs are being played at the same time in the spring, there are never the "best possible" teams playing in world championships. Good entertainment, still. However, for many finns, the key point in every years world championships is, that we beat Sweden. Depending on the schedule and top 8 brackets, it is possible, that in some years Finland does not meet Sweden, but it is always the key match, when it happens. It does not matter, whether we win gold or be 8th position, as long as we beat sweden.. Entertaining sport of course, however, not my cup of tea as I prefer soccer. Despite of this, match between Finland and Sweden always have to be watched.. You could describe it as a "big brother" Sweden vs. "Little brother" Finland... At least it was like this in the past when Finland mostly lost to Swedes.. Nowadays, after 1995 it has been more frequent to beat the swedes. Probably close to 50-50 of the wins between us. Nothing else matters during that day, when there is ice hockey world cup match against the swedes.

As a regular viewer from Sweden who also loves ice hockey I totally recommend you to check out more clips with hockey, as someone else mentioned it’s superior to football. :D One of the biggest rivalries in sports are between Finland and Sweden in hockey and Sweden almost always wins so don’t know what wikipedia page they showed that made it look like Finland wins a lot…. Lol (But I can agree that Finland is better than Sweden on the woman side.) NHL in North America is the best league in the world and all the best players are playing there no matter what country they are from. And because NHL is not a member of the IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) they don’t care about international tournaments like the World Championships and other tournaments between countries so they don’t pause when those tournaments take place like they do in football. The World Championship for example are always taking place in the middle of the NHL play off each year resulting in that a lot of the worlds best players are not available to play for their countries unless their NHL team misses the play off or are eliminated early. And USA and Canada are not even trying to be as good team as possible during the World Championships, their players are basically treating it like a free holiday in Europe and brings their families. However, sometimes NHL have granted the players wishes of best on best tournaments and arranged their own World Cup or paused during Winter Olympics allowing all the best players to participate. The next Winter Olympics will be such an event. Don’t know when you are planning to visit Sweden but the next world championship will be held in Stockholm in May next year. Unfortunately Great Britain was relegated in this year’s championship so the will not be there next year.

The US and Canada do send players to the world champion, but only from those teams that are out of playoff in NHL, NHL still going during that time. Same with other countries that have players in NHL, they can leave if the team is off from playoff and allow them to play. Sweden season I think it-s over by then, haven't follow the Swedish hockey since at least a decade now. Sweden often referred as the big brother compare to Finland. Basic: Each match consists of 3 periods. The team with most goal at the end of the match win. A match in real time can take around up to 3h, but the game is only 60 min, divided by the 3 periods, 20 min each. Each team have a roster form 20+ players. Penalty are many types. Each penalty(basic ones) is 2 min advantage for the other team. But can be shorten if the other team score. There are 5 min and games penalty, I think there is a 10 min also? Each side is play by 5 v 5. During penalty is 5v4, and each time a penalty occur for the that team, player at sent in to a penalty box, and that team is with out there fifth player or fourth, 3v3 is the lease player on ice, but the penalty time can be long depends on what 🤣

Ice skates might originate from Finland. The Great Britain won the Ice hockey gold medal at the 1936 Winter Olympics. One reason to ice hockey's popularity if that it was one of those Cold War sports. There are national teams from Canada and USA and other countries in the ice hockey world championships, but NHL don't pause for all the best players from NHL to take part In the tournament. That being said, there's this: "'Never Forget' - Leijonat 2019 (re-up)". In pesäpallo (Finnish baseball) there's not much international competition. Even the Swedish national team probably consists of Swedish Finns.

To explain the world championships in ice hockey, the playoffs in the NHL run at the same time, therefore the players who play in the best teams in the world are rarely sent. But that really applies to all countries as even the best players from European countries often play in the NHL. They have tried to delay the world championships to get around this and it works reasonably well then only a few teams whose players can't come but still they are the best teams. However, it is not like in soccer that the best players necessarily play in the best team, a team that comes in the bottom half of the NHL may have the best ranked player in the world but does not have the same breadth as the teams that make it to the finals. Then I think ice hockey is more of a team sport than soccer is, you have to have functioning fives that are very interconnected, while in soccer it is somewhat easier to have fixed stars. A coordinated group of half-decent players will probably beat a five with good stars in it that are not coordinated with each other.

In the NHL, helmets became mandatory only in the 1979-1980 season. However, the rule in practice only applied to newcomers, as older players were still allowed to play without a helmet even in the 1980s. For example, Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur played without a helmet until the end of his career, i.e. the 1990-1991 season.

Definitely to watch hockey and to what level, for example, and even though not all NHL superstars are like in the Olympics, at most each one of them is a professional. Jesse was made fun of for that in the early days, but Jarki Kurri, Teemu Seanne, Saku koivu and Mister five-time Stanley Gup winner Esa Tikka, etc., so they are. By the way, baseball was developed by Tahko Pihkala and the idea was a sport that would serve the Finnish defense forces as well as possible sometime in the 1920s ps. Finland's second official language is Swedish, which dates back to Sweden's time as a great power, and Finns were generally considered an inferior race even in the early 1900s, basic English is learned here without schools, because English-language series and movies are not dubbed, like in Sweden and France) Ice hockey has pretty simple rules, although the line of referees can also have an effect, three attackers quickly, if you can be mobile and a bunch of defenders is a basic start and yes there are rants and the most common is 2min. superiority in the other and they already score a goal here, the player gets out of the ice barrier and the situation is evened out. P aitsio means that a player in the attacking group takes possession of the puck even though the opposing players are behind it, in a zone like in football. The Soviet Union team was considered undefeated for a few decades, a good shot at that to the end. I personally liked the skillful playing that they had, well, they were a bit sloppy with the rules, I mean, I don't remember the years, so there weren't supposed to be professional players, so they had an advantage. When the Soviet Union collapsed, almost all best Russian players left to play for NHK, I think they defected before. But if you don't want to write a book, get to know the sport, those are pretty central, but of course a lot more, but I think I learned best by following or playing. If the answer was a bit too long, then we Finns are a bit like this when you noticed your enthusiasm and when you asked, the British also play world-class latke, they can unexpectedly have a pre-favorite, etc. from there to try to hide the sport. If it's too long, then you can say that there are no excessively long comments from Finns, kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoLSgHSogrZpj7s

Think you weight 85Kg and skate 40km/h against other player(80Kg) whos moving very fast too and you collide so IT IS hard hit,its like car crash Every shift you are on The ice so at The end of The season playoffs/Finals there IS not one player WHO IS not in pain but you cant tell nobody because The opponent Will use that information against you(If they know your right hand IS Broken you can Will Be sure that hand Will Be worse after Every game.🇫🇮🇫🇮🇫🇮SLAVA🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

I like video, but i think that accent is wannabe fake to sound original. It sounds bad and i understand he want it to sound honest, but its example of honest gone bad. Im myself Finnish, and im not even sure am i writing correct English, but atleast i dont make videos 😂 well... i try to watch it to the end, maybe content itself is good 🤔

Don't go to an icehockey match in finland. It's EXTREMELY boring if you don't have some kind of feeling towards either team. Like think if a finn would come and watch a game of cricket. Like WHY

It's almost like watching a game of chess if you don't know the rules. Of course if you learn the rules it will be substantially more entertaining but i don't see the point
