Suddenly this huge triangle shape came into clear view and at first I thought it was a legit UFO then remembered Whiteman AFB wasn't too far away. The wing span of the B-2 is huge yet it's very skinny and because of that when the bomber leveled out from a turn it looks like the plane completely disappears if you're watching it at a distance.

Speaking of the B2 bomber (Spirit). I worked on this program at the Northrop Corp (now called the Northrop-Grumman Corp) back in the 80's. I have a collection of the company calendars, newsletters and employee correspondences from that era all in pristine condition. Among them I have my copy of the B2 roll out (the first time the plane was shown to the public) in 1988. Even then we knew that the B2 was a game changer. The flying wing design was pioneered by our company's founder Jack Northrop in 1929. Early designs proved unstable in flight and had many other technical problems. The flying wing concept was all but forgotten for over 20 between the mid 50's an 70's when computer technology advanced enough to be integrated into its flight operations. This aircraft absolutely could not be flown without computers doing much of the work and are among the most difficult to aircraft to operate. Nothing like it in the world tho. ⭐😋🙏💔😊 Britain and the USA are brothers. This invasion scenario is about as likely as us seeing your queen in a bathing suit smoking a joint while riding a cow through Piccadilly Circus. 😫😫😫

Just FYI - because of a number of issues - including Covid - the US just had the carrier Nimitz continuously deployed for 340 consecutive days, so peacetime maintenance rotations would not really be a short term (+/- a year) factor in wartime. Also - several smaller vessels (Cruisers, Destroyers) spent months at sea without entering port. (Sucked to be them) So the capability is known. Likewise, discounting the KC-130 fleet leaves out the real world option of using the short range tankers to assist closer to base - preserving the fuel available on the long range tankers. (Reference what the UK did to get a Vulcan Bomber from Ascension Island to the Falklands) Again, discounting the C-130 from transport because of lack of range is forgetting that the C-130 is capable of taking off and landing from an aircraft carrier - if required. But then again, any "Realpolitik" scenario says that (even without getting Eire involved) as soon as Northern Ireland was isolated, it would be invaded and used as a forward airbase, allowing an around the clock air presence over the rest of the UK as well as forward staging for airborne invasion troops. The key thing that was really overlooked completely in this discussion? How long will food and fuel stores last in the UK with a total blockade from Europe, Ireland, and North America? You figure that North Sea Oil will be a primary target - how long will the Royal Naval be able to put ships to sea, and how long will the RAF be able to put planes in the air once all fuel resupply is cut off - and every targetable storage or refining facility is attacked? Air dropped naval mines off of every important harbor could be dropped on a nightly basis - while the port facilities were being bombed. If it were - as the scenario premised - a one on one conflict, why wouldn't the US initially commit it's maximum power at the very beginning, basically overwhelming the defenses. Once isolated by air and sea - the UK could be left to starve as it was bombed into submission - with no land invasion except for Northern Ireland. Now, the entire scenario ignores so many real world realities -such as shared alliances and and mutual economic interests so it is not real. Some of those realities - as mentioned in the clip give the US some added advantages. But yes, a smallish Island Nation, against a level and scale of military technology that difficult to imagine - not really very feasible - unless allies figure into the mix.

@@kabirconsiders It is funny, because the very first war the US fought was against Great Britain. Come to think of it, some of the greatest allies of the USA are forces that the USA fought in past wars. Japan, Germany, and of course Great Britain, who is practically joined at the hip with the USA. In truth, the biggest threat to the USA is not foreign advisaries, but internal division that is massive and growing. That in fact is a true threat to the way of life and freedoms we have enjoyed. What is often overlooked when scenarios are discussed about an invasion of the USA is the fact that the defense of the USA is not only bolstered by the military power here. Believe me when I say, there are more guns in the USA than people. In an invasion here, there would be a gun hiding behind every tree, building, and in every ditch. Americans have proven throughout their history, they will unite to use those guns to repel an invasion. Even before the USA officially entered WWII, the USA was the arsenal of democracy. All of the USA's weapons, and very much of the British and Russians weapons were produced in the USA. The massive distance between the USA and the European and Japanese prevented bombing raids on the US factories from bombing attacks. That was not the case in Russia, Germany, Japan, Great Britain, or Italy. Only the USA in WWII could produce the ships, tanks, bombs, in numbers higher than they were lost. Biggest blunder Japan made in WWII was attacking the USA by surprise. It United the American citizens to fight the war in a way no politician could. Before that attack, most US citizens were against entering the war. After Pearl Harbor, almost all US citizens were 100% behind the war. As the USA learned later in Vietnam, even the USA can't win a war without the backing of the US citizens.

One aspect the video doesn't emphasize is the use of drones. I actually believe UAV systems would have your island nation in dire straights fairly early on...and don't get me started on stealth aircraft with precision smart bombs. Conventionally, just a handful of AC-130 gunships and A-10s would start to decimate ground troops and vehicles quite easily once our planes thinned out the bulk of your surface to air defence platforms. But, it's all a moot point because this scenario is the definition of silliness.

Although, the Harpoon is being phased out in favor of the AGM-158 LRASM. It has a longer range, bigger warhead, and, it's low-observable (stealthy).
@ultraman51683 жыл бұрын
It's not totally accurate but you can't really blame him. The old Harpoons are basically a token self-defense capability at this point, and Tomahawk Block IV/V has much better range but is also not very advanced, plus many people aren't aware and think it's still just a land attack missile. The Littoral Combat Ships also have the NSM from Norway, smaller than LRASM but similar; longer range than the similarly sized Harpoon, stealthy design, with advanced datalinking and autonomy. It can even be configured to fit F-35's internal weapon bays. The anti-ship capability gap is not completely filled since there are still a lot of Harpoons to replace, but it is not as deep as it was 5 or 10 years ago.

USA only officially became involved after Pearl Harbor. We were however sending them armaments on credit through the lend lease program. American pilots were also allowed to sub-contract their skills out to fly fighters for GB. After WWII Nato was formed which means, an attack on a NATO allie is considered an attack on all NATO members.

What's worse for the ground troops... if new drafted recruits are being equipped with the old FAL rifles, their lack of training will be amplified by a rifle with lower capacity and higher blast and recoil. Not only that, not sure how many FAL's the British still have stored away. They may run out of rifles, without even civilian small arms to bolster their force.

but u gotta figure in the fact that during a time of a war maintence is shortened. maybe not by much but would be sped up. run tests on every system. change a few lite bulbs restock and ship out. plus allthough we may have 11 aircraft carrier 9 of those are aircraft carrier support groups. cause air craft carrier usually dont go alone. plus another thing this didnt take into account. not all of the aircraft carriers would be involved.

Delta Force, 75th Rangers, Green Berets, Force Recon, Navy SEAL units, and other special forces would be sent in to wreck hell in specific areas. Let's not forget that the Navy has river and other specialized patrol boats that can be easily shipped and invade the Thames, and other major waterways. 82nd and 101st Airborne are specially designed to take and hold places like airports, making a full scale invasion possible. U.K. air force would be slaughtered in weeks. Royal Navy might take months. Even so, once we have the air, virtually ALL U.S. military might from Army and Marines, can invade U.K. even while the Navy still fights

The US and the UK is the one war I can never imagine happening. Too many contemporary and historical business and personal links between the two countries and they are kinda fused at the spine so no matter what some hyper right wing nationalists or far leftist Brits might like to think the UK is so reliant on the US for security and trade there is no way it could make it on its own particularly after brexit. Plus I think aside from Canada, the UK and the USA share the closest set of values and have similar world outlooks because the money that owns them are exactly the same..

One thing he doesn't really talk about is the effect the US air supremacy will have on the ground invasion. I suspect American ground losses would be comparably light simply because air supremacy would mean any British vehicles, heavy equipment, staging areas, supply depots would all simply be fodder for American air strikes. The UK's ground forces would likely be cut to pieces and rendered combat ineffective before American troops even boarded their landing craft.

Though I don’t want to burst a bubble on the video but training a million troops, As well as not finding and or tracking British military hardware throughout the campaign is an oversight. Where would you hide training that many people. The us gaining air supremacy along with its reconnaissance assets would completely expose British assets day to day. I’ve seen the way us navel intelligence works. Unless your hiding units underground it wouldn’t matter how well you hid them. The us would find them. Number two I think it’s an understatement on how fast us navel and air power could dissemble UK’s navel and air power. Two the blockade and repeated bombings of power stations, fuel depots, roads, rail, bridges would make transporting anything almost impossible. Those few things could be achieved within two weeks. The us wouldn’t even have to send in troops until the UK was softened up to the point that resistance would be small.

Just launch cruise missiles at ports as soon as they are in range. One or two per port might not cripple a port, but it would hurt it. Next day, air fields. Next day, radar stations and civilian airports. Once aircraft carriers are in range, launch a swarm of cruise missiles at any remaining targets...then launch navy aircraft.. like minutes after the cruise launch.

I'll say one thing though, never underestimate the British. They do have a powerful navy, the second best in fact. The Royal Navy has around a fifth the warships with slightly lower tech level, but it isn't that massive of a discrepancy, but you have to note that the US wouldn't be able to put it's entire force to bear on the Royal Navy. The US and British are similar in pound for pound punch power, the US just weighs five times more.

One thing he doesn’t take into account when numbering the UK troop strength is the fact that they will spend months being hit from the sky before the US even attempts a landing.
