£1400 a moth is more than a pensioner gets who has probably worked all their lives. I am retired and the people I meet in some of the places I go to think that you are a mug to work. Go round any cheap beer pub like a Witherspoons and watch people who appear perfectly fit spend their benefit money. Any threat to the benefit system has people in wheelchairs chaining themselves to railings and the bad back stressed individuals at the back shouting "go on brothers fight for our rights".

Mental Health has sadly become the latest fad. I was diagnosed with arthritis at 8 years old, worked for 20+ years in aerospace engineering but then had to medically retire due to my physical disability, but also mental health issues due to prescribed medication over 30 years. However, it now seems there are a lot who claim mental health from a young age, have never worked, but somehow manage to have children, probably the most significant cause of stress apart from divorce. People with genuine medical issues should be helped, especially those who have worked, but there are far too many nowadays who just dont want to. The entire benefits system needs root and branch reform, including blue badges, because that is a system that is taken advantage of too. Sadly, they wont implement what is required to fully evaluate people. If people say they are disabled so cannot work, but go to the gym, play football, go clubbing etc. that is an inconsistency that needs to be properly scrutinised. Most genuinely disabled people are lucky if they are able to go out once a week, so any more than that should be questioned.

My son left college this year it took him a few months to find a job, he applied for so many jobs online and didn’t even get to interview point. I actually can’t believe how the majority of employers are so fussy, you have to have certain qualifications or driving license essential it never use to be like that. When i left school I just walked into a job but now you have to search online through all these sites that get thousands of applicants unless you are lucky to find something on your doorstep!! More apprenticeships should be available college to be honest was a waste of time for two of my son’s they have not been able to get jobs in what they studied. They never claimed any benefits though luckily they are both in full time jobs now but that was only through help of their friends. It was a stressful time.

If you really want to know how things got as bad as they are, I seriously recommend "The Welfare State We're in" by James Bartholomew. It's a real eye-opener regarding the history of Social Security, the NHS, the Education system, UK Housing system, UK Parenting habits and standards, the UK Pension system, and UK Taxation. If nothing else, this book will clue you in to the appalling rhetoric that politicians keep spouting time and time again because they haven't got a clue what they are doing. They force "solutions" that are grossly short sighted and they think you're too stupid and ignorant to see the extent of their incompetence.

When I left the Military I had a car and was told after finding out the job I was offered was no longer there. The Job Centre then said do you have transport I said yes and they said I could find a job for up to 60 Miles. Yet I see lots of young people with vehicles who do not work. Then the benefits threat. Sorry this does not work For all they do is go for another one. Bring back national service.

a job must pay all of the legally expected bills. Basic economics. The Government needs to take responsibility and accountability to solve the issue. Minimum wage should afford the smallest self contained 1 bedroom property and it doesn't. then when the law is broken they act surprised. It's a complex issue, but basically its a diversion from exactly where the welfare money is being spent. They'll target the low hanging fruit and claim success, instead of the millions they themselves waste on hotels etc. I totally agree it's too easy these days to report sick with MH issues, I know of people who've had days off when a pet has died, which is upsetting, but not to that extent, or it shouldn't be if people had a bit of mental fortitude, a quality sadly lacking in the last couple of generations. I know people who work in the NHS Mental Health services, and such folk as mentioned above are called (unofficially of course),, 'The Worried Well'. This isn't helped by social media and the MSM spreading doom and gloom and catastrophising every weather (not climate) related incident, and over-hyping every outbreak of a virus that may or may not wipe out humankind. Also it's at odds with the 'workers rights' bill they are about to inflict on employers, where these type of people will be able to start a job for one day, then go off sick because someone asked them to do something, and then claim unfair dismissal when the employer has to find someone else to do the job. Or, maybe that's the masterplan, get them off the welfare and have the employers paying huge compensation claims to them.
@lewiemay12 сағат бұрын
Its everything .not just sickness benefit. We paying people to go to english classes to enable them to get jobs. For a fact many still need interpetators in job centre interviews after 2 years of classes! They dont go to them. But are paid to. Even clothing allowances and travel expenses to attend interviews are given to claimants. Countt the years each claiment has had benefits and make decision if this person wants to sustain themselves or are perfectly happy to let working people do it for them.

Real mental health is no joke trust me, even for my family it was way too much, so i have had to be hospitalised and sedated for months of the year all through my life. So no doctor or Gov worker that has never experienced i darkest days in hell that i have can't ever talk to me about what mental health is like.

The benefits office is useless the government who refuse to reduce the tax burden on paye workers they cleverly have not changed the tax thresholds no wonder people work hard get depressed .Its the new illness depression now there is no invisible line. Problem is as well if someone has been given any time off for depression it us very hard to change employment elsewhere .Do tors don't care they would sign a monkey off on the phone for a quiet life .Don't no everyone has an inspiring job most have dull clock watching job. So with high rents etc there is no incentive to work when you are better off on benefits.i also think people are more aware and they don't like being told b politi fans telling them what to do especially one wui has people buying his suits
