What has fascinated me is that Africa has indigenous words for writing and reading. Totally removed from any outside influences. In South Africa words for writing: Bala, Ngwala, Tsala Words for reading/learning: Funda, Hlaya, Bala Words for counting/formulae/arithmetic: Izibalo, tinhlayo, Bala There are more languages as well who have their own words for these disciplines. If Africans were not read, writing, counting and creating their own mathematical formulas, what use would these words have in our languages? Just an interesting fact from my curiosity.

Don't let them dceive you again. Hieroglyphics came from Egypt whose inhabitants were mainly blacks until the invasion of white Arabs. Cleopatra wasn't a white, she had a lighter shade of the normal dark skin among her people, referred to as "fair skin" by the English. Cleopatra started the hieroglyphics. Its in a form of pictoria letters. Egyptians were developing speedily among the blacks. Truth is, the Egyptian Pyramid was built by the Israeli slaves in Egypt during Pharaoh's reign in about 500BC. The Egyptians made papyrus paper and linen from the papyrus tree. Papyrus linens were used in embalming bodies of the dead in order to preseve them for a very long time. Papyrus papers were used as scrolls for writing after advancing from writing on tablets. Egyptians love gold ornaments and jewelries just like their descendants in Ghana, precisely the Akans, part of Ivory coast and Sudan. However, Ethiopia formally Abisynnia was the land of milk and honey. They were advanced too. A rich land and its inhaitants were also blacks. Eventhough Ethiopia wasn't colonized, some of its descendants migrated to the sub-saharan area known as the "gbe" speaking people. The Gãs, Yoruba, Eʋes, Fon, Adza(Aja) and the rest of the gbe speaking people. These people were part of the Ge'ez speakers, originally. These people know where they migrated from, they were one of the people who suffered the slave trade the most. In 1859-1870 many gbe people were captured and sold out by the soldiers of Osei Tutu empire now known as the Akan tribes, meanwhile the other stronger kingdoms in Nigeria formerly known as the Nija Empire were also active in the slave trade, again the "gbe" people were along the Badagry area are descents of enslaved people. The gbe people were enslaved to the British and the Dutch in exchange for firearms, mirrors and hard liquor and also, because the "gbe" people were identified as jews from Abisynnia. Eventhough they turned their backs against God and worshipped babylonian gods, they still know the name of the Almighty creator. Later, "Yawe" (He created) avenged them, the British came back and fought the Akans for their land, \

He’s been using this tactic of isolating North Africa from historical reference for the longest because he knows it was 1 of the cradles of civilisation, to which Europe got all of it’s advancements from. So by saying “sub Sahara “ he will try to defend his nonsense by stating that there is no documentation of advanced technology in let’s say the region of Zimbabwe. As a Black American who's Mende ancestors moved from Mali to Sierra Leone before being trafficked 200 years ago, this is powerful - thank you!! The current Foundational Black American ethnogenesis argument is a bit painful for some, but it's important that the delineation process be respected, because we are a different with distinct history and cultural mores after 25 generations. However, in an important way, your work has provided new insight that resistance and the desire to learn could have been cultural basics transmitted through those ancestors. Our documented history in the US since 1765 includes African ancestors who escaped plantations under the Spanish, and fought as legendary warriors against the US government in the 1815-1858 Seminole "Negro" Wars. They didn't lose, and never signed a treaty - they just ran out of warriors. This information will help establish the connective tissue across the centuries, even as FBA lineage becomes codified. May all our ancestors smile on your lineage forever.
@charlenegraham1923Ай бұрын
I think what's ancestral for Africans is curiosity and the ability the assimilate and produce new knowledge. How that's passed on, the educational systems used, I think this thing we see now with books and classrooms is specifically European. Africans certainly had written language but it was originally used as needed and definitely NOT to disseminate or even pass on knowledge. They had other systems for doing that and were actually reticent to write things down because those who are simply given knowledge without having earned the accompanying cultural wisdom and experience may do something like, well, try to take over the world through war, genocide, subterfuge, and lies. An infantile culture with stolen adult knowledge is why we are where we are. It's obvious the 2 year olds are currently in charge.

@johnmckiernan2176Ай бұрын
I had never thought of it that way. Although it has adapted scripts (Greek, Latin, Uncial, Insular, Cyrillic, etc.), all of them are adaptations of the Phoenician scripts, which are themselves derived from Semitic scripts and ultimately from the hieroglyphs of Kemet/Aegyptus. Africa (via Egypt), Central and South Asia (often in the Indian subcontinent) and the Far East (China, via the oracle script) and the Americas (e.g. Mayan script) all developed scripts independently and from scratch. Europe did not.
@johnmckiernan2176Ай бұрын
PS, Christianity was born in the semi-independent Roman client state of Judea, then divided into three or four parts, and Jesus himself was born in the tetrarchate of Galilee and Peraea and died in the ethnarchate of Judea, Samaria, and Idumea, which was at that time ruled directly by a Roman governor. No state called Israel existed between 722 BCE and 1948 CE. The name was revived to give the sense of a purely or solely Jewish kingdom, a theorised entity which never seems to have existed in the melting pot of the Levant. Israel was the last truly independent Hebrew-ruled state, invaded and dissolved by the Assyrian Empire. Later Jewish-ruled kingdoms were clients of the Seleucid Greeks and the Romans, and many of their inhabitants were Hellenised Jews, Greeks, Samaritans, Nabatean Arabs or Romans.

Not only is writing a recent invention in most places globally today it's a technology that has been borrowed with most written scripts descending from Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics. This includes the Latin Alphabet in Europe, Europeans didn't invent the Latin Alphabet they borrowed it from earlier civilisations that ultimately got writing from Ancient Egypt.

Fun Fact: Nsibidi was an occultic script used by secret societies in Eastern Nigeria. It's usage was oblivious to the outside world until a European teacher at a school in the Calabar district of Eastern Nigeria told his class (of black student) that Black people never invented writing. Then one of the male students raised his hand and told the teacher that "we have our own writing" from which the teacher inquired and it was shown him; that was how Nsibidi became known to the outside world.

The hypocrisy of these people is that they are convinced that progress and new ideas dont start from one particular area then diffuse outwards. There are those who try to separate Sub-Saharan Africa from North Africa, but they don't try to separate Eastern Europe from Western Europe, even though eastern Europe was considered underdeveloped until Charlemagne united it in the 9th century. Back then, progress mainly happened in the west, while the east was mostly made up of villages with nomadic tribes and Slavs. One can argue that before Charlemagne eastern Europe had significant settlements and structures but none matched the great Zimbabwe in scale and sophistication. The same person argues that the Great Wall of Benin was not actually impressive and did not have any greatness, despite historical evidence suggesting otherwise.

Education was universal in Muslim Spain, while in Christian Europe, 99 per cent of the population was illiterate, and even kings could neither read nor write. The Moors boasted a remarkably high literacy rate for a pre-modern society. During an era when Europe had only two universities, the Moors had seventeen. The founders of Oxford University were inspired to form the institution after visiting Muslim universities in Spain.
@jameswitt108Ай бұрын
Universities are a European invention, you probably mean Madras. The Moors ruled most of Spain for about 400 years, then they started losing large parts of land. The only bit they ruled for almost 800 years (not 1000) was the bit in the south, around Grenada. Can you name a university in Al-Andalus? Illiteracy was not 99% in Europe, what was it in Al-Andalus and which kings are you talking about, name them. Europe already had quite modern cities, especially in Spain. When exactly did Europe have only 2 universities? And did they not have any other institutions of education? Oxford developed from 1167 when Henry II banned English students from attending the University of Paris following a quarrel with Thomas Becket.
@Jay-Kay-BuwemboАй бұрын
@@jameswitt108So you are saying that a Madrasa is not a University? European Universities similarly evolved out of Monastic traditions in Christianity. The Moorish occupation of Spain was an important towards the dissemination of the knowledge of antiquity into Europe to spark the Renaissance. The knowledge of Ancient Greece for example was disseminated by translating Arabic manuscripts. This is why so many Arabic loan words exist in English in relation to the sciences; Algebra, Alchemy, Chemistry etc.
@jameswitt108Ай бұрын
@@Jay-Kay-Buwembo Kind of, madras weren't really universities, they were institutions of higher learning but not universities but if we agree that any school of higher learning can be called a university, then the university of Constantinople would still be in Europe before the Moors even invaded. Absolutely. Don't mistake me for someone who diminishes all the Moorish contributions, they brought plenty of impressive knowledge to Europe.
@Jay-Kay-BuwemboАй бұрын
@@jameswitt108 Sounds subjective uh regards to what you deem a University. When Oxford opened students learned a collection of liberal arts subjects including logic, grammar, geometry music etc. I would argue that similar things were taught at Madarsas along side studying the Quran and Islamic law. Heck you can say similar for the temples of Ancient Egypt. "The Madrasa of Granada was founded in 1349 by Yusuf I, the Nasrid monarch of Granada. It was the first public university in al-Andalus and taught subjects such as law, mathematics, theology, astrology, and literature. The Madrasa of Granada is also known as the Palacio de la Madraza or the Madrasa Yusufiyya"
@Egr-et6arАй бұрын
@@jameswitt108 The first were “expelled” from Spain between 1609 and 1614, although a certain number managed to evade expulsion or return to the Peninsula later on. But of course the con- verted, those who had identified with Christian Spain, could not be expelled on top of that. Most historical works about Muslims in Spain, therefore, concentrate on the Moriscos (more or less Christianized, more or less Islamized) from 1492 to 1614. And the enormous bibliography on slavery concentrates on slaves from sub- Saharan Africa in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, leaving Muslims on the margins. Moriscos and slaves, in short, have captured almost all the interest of historians even though, as we shall see, free Muslims were very numerous. Chapter 2 The Spain That Enslaves and Expels: Moriscos and Muslim Captives (1492 to 1767-1791).

Even Nordic runes are derived from that ancient African parent script, via Greek, Latin, Phoenician, Proto-Sinaitic, back to Egyptian. Some scholars claim that Mesopotamian cuneiform is older by about 200 years, but this is meaningless given this falls well within the margin of error of effective dating, so it's impossible to say. Also, it's interesting that cuneiform has not survived in modern form as not even Hebrew or Arabic developed from it, but from Egyptian hieroglyphic via the same Phoenician derivatives too.

Same here! We the Somali people had Arabic-based but Somali language script even news papers, post letters were used to write with it and we had other local scripts too. In 1970s some western countries hijacked our historic scripture and cultures around it and they bribed the government of that time, paid a swift campaign money for teaching every one even in the deep rural areas & told us it was only literacy campaign. What do Somalis or other east african have to do with Latin? Nothing. All of that was to take us out from our common cultural heritage and ethno-geography with our immediate neighbors both Africa, middle east & Asia who wrote arabic-based scripts like Yemen, Egypt, Persians, Urdu & others. to change the script into Latin just like they did in Turkey after1300 years of using it. So, it is a campain while it is evident that literacy in west in early 20th century was very law. Even the folks of west Africa like Mali or Mauritania could have more people who could read and write in like year 1910. So, the problem is Omar Abdirahman of well-know enslaved Muslim in US in 18th century & Prince Ayoubu Suleiman of Senegal where more educated the average or even all of the slave masters that led to release of Ayoubu or Ayoub Suleiman with his intellect and eduction being the source of that.
