I don't care what your opinion is of Brian Cockrell but in his prime he was a very dangerous man and someone you would not want to fall out with, plus he took that vicious kicking off several blokes armed with hammers and iron bars and baseball bats and still managed to do some of those blokes serious damage and got out alive . Any lesser man would have died in that situation.

Pat Tate would have flattened Tony Tucker with his hands tied and eyes closed. Lee Duffy wouldnt have backed down from anybody on that list. @michaelkelly36385 ай бұрын
That’s a question I always get asked. Firstly, there was no such thing as MMA in our day. I started out sparring with guys like proud Kilimanjaro & Hugh Roy currie but the giants had arrived by then & I was only 16st. I was too smart to continue as a paid sparring p and got into doorwork, like chapman and made out fortune that way. You have to understand there was no sky tv back then and to become a boxer you had only 4-5 pro trainers-promoters to help. I had Russians work for me who were Soviet champions and arrived here flat broke. I had loads like that who worked the door for a tenner an hour until they settled and found their own way. One of them, val Riazanov, can be found on you tube teaching ballistic striking around the world. He ended up thru Chris Ewbank going to Dubai to train combat tactics to the Dubai police. He made his fortune there. My answer to your question is this: guys fight, and if good enough make their fortune, when there is no better option. The failure rate is horrendous. It’s always an annoying assertion that doormen are failed fighters, when usually fighters did doorwork for a regular wage and the comradeship.
