Interesting about the sensors Mike the crank angle sensor on my 3.9 may be out because the tachometer metre and Speedo are not working, is that the possible problem Mike?? Thanks

Gary - if the Crank positioning sensor is off then usually the engine will not start The speedo normally works from the transfer case - later vehicles took the speed p reading from the ABS sensors in the wheel

Next section - I am not going to change the crank bearings! No, I am not, but the heads were dirty and to wash them off in situ would fill the sump with crap -also the valley end seals looked dry - time to replace!

Looks like it needs an extra 10mm adding to the block and the head on each end,gasket width seems way too thin!?!

The pressure of the coolant would push it out I would expect

I've been teaching the missus how to rebuild the rover 3.5 efi V8, I point her in the right direction and she gets on with it, shame you don't have time for Instagram as that's where I posted some pictures of her working on it.

I need to have an Instagram account which is Facebook I think and i don't want to go there I will wit until my friend pops round and we will have a look on her tablet

@@BritannicaRestorations Oh no you don't need facebook, Instagram is for phones only when it comes to posting a picture or leaving a comment, the link I gave you was for viewing only on computer, if you go to your phone app store ( play store ) or iTunes and install Instagram, create account, username Britrest & a password take you 2 minutes to do. if you need more help, give me a shout..
